@Lyla Laycre What?? I was just classifying what he said and pointing out that it was in the video...
Practicing at home: pure joy and harmony
Playing in front of my teacher: *feels like I have never seen that sheet music in my life before*
I can so painfully relate to that! 😂😂😂
the pressure is REAL
Weirdly, I’m the opposite XD
So true... then I have to play the same thing for ages when it's fine at home
same here
Brett: "Hey you're missing something there"
Eddy: "What am I missing?"
Brett: "Your life"💀
I'm a singer, not a violinist, but I can relate to like 80% of this. I'm kind of this routine:
1. Procrastinate
2. Decide to practice
3. Warm up
4. Scales
5. Space out while practicing breath support
6. Keeps changing pieces
7. Self critical
8. Depressed.
9. Recording myself (sometimes)
10. Even more depressed
11. Quit for like 2 days
I'm also a singer and I go through these exact stages too, minus the scales. Just add "interpreter" and "thinker" to the mix. And sometimes I sing for days on end but then stop for like a week and feel depressed about having to train to regain control over my voice again lol
As a singer and pianist this one's mine 💀💀💀
1. Ohhhh right I should probably practice my timing in the song I'm meant to sing at a rehearsal lol
2. Boots up pc
3. Spends 30 minutes watching old videos from when I was a kid
4. Ohhh right the practice
5. Practices timing for like 10 minutes
6. Oh lmao shouldn't I warm up
7. Decides not to warm up
8. Random ahh concert of old songs
9. Hmm let me practice the whole song
10. Practices for another 10 minutes
11. Hm I should go practice my piano
12. Plays one excercise and gets mad when I suck balls
13. Plays pieces I know to build confidence
14. Tries again
15. Still sucks balls
16. Anger and mental breakdown but then gaslights myself into thinking I'm a calm pianist practicing
17. 2 minutes later: it doesn't work
18. Goes through pieces I know again
19. Practices identifying notes
20. Ohhh right that music app I have
21. Practices intervals for like 30 minutes
22. Ugh I'm tired imma listen to storm by Vivaldi
i love "Quit for like 2 days" part
*picks up an instrument*
*puts the instrument back*
Eh that's good enough
Me tho
Chicken Tenders guilty lmao
Me with my viola
Cami ThePotatoWolfx3 oof
That's my practice technique
where is
"Neglects technique to try and play that one piece way above your skill level"
That is everyone musician ever.
Yeah it isn't a category it's eveyone
yeah that's like every musician ever lol
Playing above your skill level helps you improve your technique, if played *properly*
Hey.
😆I'm not a violinist but a pianist. I think these are universal. I laughed so hard. I am methodical, but also record myself and listen to recordings. It was fun to watch this with my musician children and point out which ones they were as well. I love your guys' content.
SAME I"M A KID
Me too
Yeah me too I play cello 🤣
My late x husband was an American concert flutist. He was type 2 on your list but he did schedule in a life. His friend Sam was an English concert flutist of the type 3 on your list. Sam sauntered into competitions and auditions wearing sandals, Bermuda shorts and Hawaiian print shirts, and he always won. The judges always made Sam play much longer than everyone else. My x wasn't always allowed to finish a piece before he was excused. My x was a capable professional but watching him play was no pleasure, it looked painful for him. Sam was a joy to watch, he was clearly in love with what he was doing. One loses oneself in the music.
I call my practice routine “The 5 Stages”
1. Self Critical
2. Frustrated
3. The Discusser
4. Depressed
5. Procrastinator
this is so relatable lmao!
I call this one...

2. Self Critical

Sounds about right
Hahaha, far too relatable ^.^

Why Dosent this have more likes? You did the impossible!
Does this happen to anyone else?
Practice: Perfection
Recital: *Hands turn off*
This happens to me in concerts as well as playing tests
3 hours practice a day. solid, incredible sound. perfect. concert day. first note.
squeak.
Omg I hate it when that happens ;-;
Practice: shifts while doing scales and song sounds like heaven (when practicing to the orchestra audio)
Playing test: sssss- *bad string crossing* SQUEak
Marie C oof I only play percussion but that sounds painful
when you're frustrated and depressed while screaming internally bEcAuSe you can't get that one goddamn part right -
And you want to throw your violin away because of the frustration but you don't because you remember that it is very expensive 😂😂
And thats the point where I start practicing methodically
Yeah. Same
Well if you can play it slow, you can play it fast - so problem solved!
This is such a mood.
My level of procrastination is like, god-tier. I love playing and practicing, yet I am always putting it off.
I'm listing the ones I actually tend to do a lot when I practice as a piano beginner :
*5. Practicing fast* (this is actually when I already know the piece,i'm practicing my memory to know what to press on the spot, also agility I guess. but I do practice them slower after that)
*8. Self critical* (I talk to myself a lot yes😂 Everytime I play the wrong note I would go "oh,wrong note. go back 2-3 measures before")
*9. Keep changing pieces* (As an impatient person,I would go play the easy piece or the piece I had practiced after attempting to learn the current one. Also the fact that I am a beginner afterall and maybe it's different once you advance.)
*15. Frustrated* (no explanation)
*16. The app user* (yeah,I'm still a teen and broke)
*18. Recording yourself* (okay,I know I said I listed what I tend to do a lot but,I do only do this sometimes. Since I haven't really memorized a lot of pieces. But this is very useful though! So you can hear what your "audience" is hearing. Like the tempo and such)
*19. Depressed* (this used to me back then! I was a pretty sensitive kid so it stressed me out to get a lot of mistakes, especially as an 8 year old)
*20. Procastinator* (all. the. time. there's just a lot of interesting things in the world! trying to fit them all in a day is so hard. I only get to practice 1 hour a day most of the time🥲)
*21. Mental Practicer* (I can't explain. I do this before practicing)
*22. Multi Tasker* (sometimes)
*24. Recording Listener* (I think we all relate to this already so I don't have to explain)
Me: picks up violin
Holds it for five minutes
*Five mins later* alright done
Same but i do it with ukulele
Angle Sparkle118095 omg I’ve been trying to learn ukulele for 2 months now, I haven’t even learned the basic chords 😭

Lol true
Uhm... relatable
It's the emotion that counts
Lower your voice
that's me (kinda)
1:48 and yeah..it's me
me:
1. depressed
2. thinking i can be better if i keep practicing
3. lazy to practice
4. depressed because im not good
5.thinking when i get better
6. depressed
I can’t be the only one who practices in front of a mirror for technique purposes but then ends up staring at my face, gets pissed off by my facial expressions and leaves
Yes.
Same
Same
Use a fun 🏠 mirror. It's what I do! Now learn Paganism! I mean Paganini!🍟
Pagan Wolf i don't get it 😔🤔
The “Procrastinator” hits way closer to home than I would care to admit
I admit Im like that sometimes but Im making sure I practice everyday
Dude, I’m with you. Let’s not talk about how long I wait to practice before my vocal lessons *cough*day of*cough*🤦🏻♀️
my solution is to keep the instrument out of case and literally in arms reach of me, and not to care what it is i initially play, because once i start its alot easier
I struggle with the exact same problem too!
@@BobsRockets i agree with that , the problem is always with starting to practice , and not only in playing instruments , even drawing for example ..... When you start you just can't stop , but it's hard to start ...... I need to practice 💔
1:03 i thought he’d say “your violin” 💀
My practice routine pretty much daily:
1. Procrastinate by watching Twoset Violin while opening my case
2. After 10 minutes I have finally opened the case 😢
3. Try to be ling ling but end up only practicing 5 minutes
2. How your parents want you to practice
11. How you want to practice
3. How you think you practice
4. & 20. How you actually practice
This is definitely me
Lol 420 blaze it
-I'm in this photo and I don't like it.
I'm actually procrastinating right now
Madeline Loyd lowkey 3 tho
Me: spends two hours playing every piece of music i own instead of the stuff im actually supposed to be practicing
Whyyy don't show my secrets on French horn
I do that a lot.
Meeeeee tooooo! Lol!
Same though. My teacher get soo mad
Oh god me with singing
When I practice I get mad that I’m not super good and then I stop practicing even though I need to practice to get good. The struggle is real.
My stages of practicing:
1. Warm Up
2. Fix Posture
3. Scales
4. Find a video of the song so I know how it sounds
5. Play a line of the song at a time
6. Play the whole song and realize I played it too fast
7. Play the song perfectly until that one note at the end of the piece
8. Get frustrated and puts violin away
I feel personally attacked by all of these except the "casual but talented one"
that was not funny?
@@orsemcore he is implying that he is untalented
JDestroy r/whoooosh
Advaith Remesh r/whoooosh
@@advaithremesh1698 i understand what he said, but it was not funny
Me: I'm going to record myself
After listening to the recording: I don't want to learn music anymore
same omg 😭
Oof this was me yesterday recording a piece for choir
I made this mistake of recording myself just once, and then never again because it sounded like a cat dying xD
It is on the same level of cringe as listening to your own voice
Sometimes it's like that and sometimes is like:
Me: Oh that performance was so bad i don't want to learn music anymore
After listening to the recording: Omg that was awesome i'm the new ling ling
Too relatable!
I'm a mix of a few of these, but "casual but not talented" is a major one! It hurts!
I’m definitely the spacing out one I keep playing sad music I keep thinking about sad shit and just crying
You forgot people who play woodwinds and literally pass out after not taking in any oxygen for 5 min.
Rebeca Donadon Tru facts sis every woodwind would understand XD
i literally write in my music “BREATH ARIEL”😭😭😭😭
Rebeca Donadon haha trumpets too mate
Havent passed out yet, but felt like it
That's me, I'll play so long my face hurts, then I'll keep playing anyways
Where’s “doesn’t practice until the day before class”?
I always practice one hour before lesson, shame on me
I practice once a week
Meanwhile the only time I do practice is at class or when my parents tell me to help my sister practice, so...
Omg I am in this comment
That’s not me cuz my Chinese mom makes me practice 😂😂🤦🏻♀️
I'm not a violinist but a pianist, but i can relate 😂. My practice routine usually including these stages :
1. Super slow tempo playing
2. Facing difficulties at some parts
3. Starting to understand how the music should be phrasing, but then i starting to play faster than i should be
4. Doubting myself, even gets depress if i couldn't find the solutions of my problems
5. Procastinating (especially at the weekends)
here is my practice routine:
1: "Okay, just hurry it up and get it done"
2 *sees music*
3: cries and gets 0 on orchestra homework
the crying isn't just me. we have a club in orchestra called "We cry over our homework club"
Me: plays one note on the piano
Also me: I practice a lot today, I'm gonna get ice cream, I deserve it.
Me. lol Though, I do admit, I spent 5 hours learning a video game song by ear. Otherwise, when it comes to practising, I'll spend maybe 20 or 30 mins before going "I think that's good enough!" But I can also be number 8 and end up criticising myself a lot. ;w;
InSomniaArmyCheshire MooMooReveluvMeU
I spent at least a week learning all the songs of Hamilton my heart

This is so relatable ! I am definitely the "Always practice fast" one!
“There aren’t 40 hours in a day”
-Some anti Ling Ling wannabe
Those people don't deserve to come watch Twoset videos. Ohh, and in one of their meme reaction videos, some guy was like "Who is LingLing?" 😑😑😑 I'm like Bro, were you living under a rock?

It is soooooooo true !
True, even when I was in fine art, one of my teachee argue with someone who work at the museum XD
Ok, but like, I feel so validated by this lol I'm kind of a mix of a bunch of these and I always thought I was practicing wrong, so it's nice to know other people do a bunch of these things also.

Why did Tchaikovsky write this in D Major?
There must be a *D* eeper meaning
Ahh yes, Tchaikovsky was known for his epic *P U N S*
On Vengerov's own words... Every violin concerto is in d major
Tchaikovsky was inspired by Lalo's Symphonie Espagnole which is in D minor ; maybe he kept the idea of a concerto in D but made it major instead.
No, he just likes the D
Don't forget Schumann's one is in D major as well.
“just shut up and practice”
literally my whole life 😂😂😂
i’m literally always depressed or spacing out while one of my friend is super talented and works super hard and my other friend is don’t practive a lot but super talented

And magically can play it smoothly until the end than that moment I tried to be serious

Keeps changing pieces is definitely 100% my dad and I’m The discusser with a sprinkle of ✨depressed✨
I space out all the time and think about random stuff but I while doing that I still play the peace correctly and without realizing it I play it like 10 times in a row which is 1 of the reasons I like playing is so I get my thoughts organized and playing an instrument
I am the “Musician wannabe” type. I don’t play any instruments YET, but watching twoset is a kind of warm up for my future practicing
You should start.
This is my third round of trying to learn to actually play the piano instead of just messing around so I get that XD
Excuses. Start practicing!
You should start
You should! I play piano already, but I am getting a violin soon. And can't wait to start!
For piano players: when u practice and can't get anything right, so you slam on the keys.
(Personally I've never slammed them bc my asian mom would beat me up but my brother has 😶)
Yes! I can relate. I've slammed them couple of times.
I just strike a dissonant bunch of keys in frustration, but try not to damage the instrument.
@@jbertucci Obviously! Pianos in general are expensive.
@Nadia Charoensuk Yes. The care of acoustic pianos is expensive. I have a Yamaha digital piano. Love acoustics but I don't have the money. And the cheaper acoustics pianos that are affordable are simply a furniture not an instrument.
@Nadia Charoensuk I feel u 😭 pianos r overall expensive (if u want a piano with a good sound to it) so that's y I get scared everytime my brother slams the piano

You guys are hilarious!
i play the trumpet; these apply for me too. i call my practice routine “get me some help”.
1. setup
2. depression
3. wondering how trumpet exists

8. put my instrument away
9. wanna actually practice now, so repeat.
I just let the crippling anxiety and self doubt motivate me! Anyone? ANYONE?

18. The recording ALWAYS sounds worse than the actual
True Story. Due to Corona Virus I have to send my teacher a recording of my piece. Every time when I think „That was good, that one I‘ll send.“, I listen to it and then I‘m like „Oh no, my sound is so bad“ (Flautist) Then I‘m the frustrated one.
@@namenwerdenuberbewertet2948 yep, I finally accomplish a soothing, beautiful sound on my saxophone, but then I listen to the recording and it sounds like THUNDER
@@BoogleBeats Which device are you using for recording? I‘m just using my phone and my teacher told me I shouldn‘t worry about my sound too much (when listening to the recording) as phones aren‘t made for this type of recordings. The phone isn‘t really able to catch the different dynamics and also isn‘t made for high notes. Actually I knew before that the phone isn‘t the best way of recording something but hearing it from my teacher was kind of calming 😅 So I just pay attention to rythm and timing and don‘t care that much about sound anymore when listening to what I played.
@@namenwerdenuberbewertet2948 yeah, I had to play during class once so I just used my Windows computer microphone. It was crazy distorted! Everyone was laughing about it. Anyways, my parents bought me a microphone so I could play for my class whenever I needed to.😆
