I feel like this would be a really cool activity for a teacher to do with students, just to keep them on the ball and actually thinking about what they're playing. Like the inverted hand throwing muscle memory out the window lol
Sometimes brass players do this - if they're struggling with a passage they'll switch hands on the valves, and it helps shake up the muscle memory. Then you switch back to playing normally and it often feels easier!

Hoooooooly shit Brett's Ysaye was really amazing around the 9:55 mark, even though he was fooling around the intonation was on point, you can hear that he was practicing that. They're both awesome musicians!
I was pretty shocked by his Ysaye, too! His intonation is soooo effortless. I’m not a professional violinist so I don’t know if this is “normal” among music students. But I’m soooooo jealous. I still sound like a shit when I play double stops and chords😢😢😢😢😢😢

Anyway, since my last comment I changed my mind and decided to make a playlist with all their guessing games : charades, listening tests, etc... As expected, a lot of their videos fall under that category, more than 110 so far (without the 40+ Ling Ling workouts that are in another compilation) !
I’m jointly in awe of their ability to play these songs and their repertoire and discouraged as I’m a beginner and I can’t play any of these pieces (except for Blue Danube) the normal way. Love this type of video TwoSet!
i feel like this game will be more difficult if the piece (and maybe the specific movement as well) is designated in the paper along with the challenge; but still, a fun video and a very clever way to dodge copyright!

Yeah, I do create the squeaks and the poor sounds some of the time but mostly I play notes even if they're flat/sharp instead of sharp/natural. It's the old 'I play all the right notes but not necessarily in the right order!'
