I got mine by mistake essentially. I had neons, wanted to add something that was different but similar so got silver tips. Had to add more but so glad I did, they’re incredible fish! Can be territorial from time to time but they’re so cool!
Yeah silver tip tetras😊 They are actually quite fun to watch and pretty hardy. Noticed in my group there seems to be a dominant male who is really easy to spot because he’s brighter orangish yellow than the others. 😊
One neat thing about silvertips I heard is that if you bring your hand to the glass then instead of darting away like most little fish they swarrrm right to it, especially if you have a large group, which I imagine can be a fun and endearing experience
Beautiful footage and good information as always. I also like your list of possible tankmates. I think they’d look great with pristella (x-ray) tetras. I also think they’d look awesome with glowlight tetras, which are about the same size and shape, but have that awesome orange line down their sides!
For 3 days now I have been debating rummy nose or Silver tips for my 75gallon south American tank. I got 4 juvenile electric blue acara and a juvenile geophagus surinamensis all under 2 inches currently In the tank I want a tight schooling south American tetra to go with them. I need to know the best tetra for schooling. Love your videos thank you for doing what you do. ❤
Awesome video! If anyone has a suggestion about my lighting situation - I have a 60 inch long tank. Im between getting a single nicrew to cover it, or two hygger lights to cover it. Any thoughts?
I love the colors of the males - but ended up with an imbalance in the amount of males to females. Several were very aggressive with all the tank mates. They were all intimidated- rummy nose, brilliant raspers, corys, even my sailfin Mollys started hiding. After watching 3 males run a female into the glass and not leave her alone, I think I found how I kept loosing the females.... I culled out 6 males and took them to the LFS. Replaced with what I hope are 6 females. There were a couple more males I would have liked to catch- but those suckers are hard to catch in a 125 planted tank. I had about 15, so about 9-10 were males when I culled the school. The tank settled down, and everyone comes out and swims around again. So I solved that issue. Really nice active beautiful fish.
Hey Prime Time Aquatic uh is this stocking list way overstocking for a 20 gallon long planted tank ? 3x Wrestling (1 male and 2 female) 1-3x Sunset Honey Gourami 10x CPD 8-10x Cherry Barb 6x Harlenquin Rasbora 6x Kuhli Loach 3x Reticulated Hillstream Loaches 1x Panda Gara (Garra flavatra) And some Malaysian Trumpet Snail, Cherry Shrimp, and 3x Bambo Shrimp (Atyopsis moluccensis).
I’ve got 9 of these, I think they’re all males except one. They are very aggressive with my endlers and each other, I’ve got a 40 gallon community tank, 3 dwarf gouramis and 11 endlers,6 Cory’s. What should I do too make the silver tips less aggressive? A few More females?? Please help!!!!
when i bought my school, the lfs owner asked if i was sure i wanted 30. he couldn't fathom that somebody wanted them to be the focal fish! their tips also vary in brightness and shininess.
I had ten .4 male 6 females, each male became territorial bullies, chasing any and all other fish from their area.will not have them again.4ft heavily planted community tank.

Aren't they such interesting Fish!! 🤍🥰 (One of my personal favorite Tetras!!)
@@Aemilius46 they really are. Was kind of pleasantly surprised
Love all the under appreciated fish videos, silver tip tetras are stunning in a home aquarium

Beautiful little fish!
Great video 😊 my favorite tetras would be the green fire
i picked up some denisons yesterday ....love the tails may have to get some of these now 😂
I have 20 in a heavily planted 40 breeder and they fight 24/7 for the last 2 years. I wish mine were this calm
Mine were the same, I had twelve and a couple dominant males harried the females and less dominant males constantly.
Same here. These are aggressive for tetras.
Thank you for sharing this video 👍😀
Great info, Thanks Jason !!!
Beautiful fish, great schoolers, but I found them very nippy.
These look amazing 😻
I ❤ them, think I might add some to my community 😊
Such a beautiful fish
I love my silver tips
Awesome video! If anyone has a suggestion about my lighting situation - I have a 60 inch long tank. Im between getting a single nicrew to cover it, or two hygger lights to cover it. Any thoughts?
Two 30” hyggers might work well.
I would love a big school of as many of these as would fit comfortable in a 40g breeder.
AWESOME little fish
I really love these little Fish!! 🤍 A German Blue Ram would probably make a good tankmate, do you think??
Actually would a Kribensis make a good tankmate??
Does Flip Aquatics offer your viewers any sort of discount? They sure should. I never heard of them before you guys.
Yes - usually associated with our live stream giveaways - usually once per month!
It's hard to pick a fish based on your videos b/c you like all the fish!
Hi, I have 10 silver tips, and 10 Buena Aires tetras, no issues, need more help in breeding them, beginner to this, any help wpuld be grateful
Can they be kept with roseline sharks? I have 10 roselines in a 180. How many would be appropriate?
That would probably work just fine. In a 180 you could easily start with 20-30 and see how it looks.
Random question - how many pea puffers can I humanly keep in a 20g long ???? Can they live with Cory's?
You could do a couple males with 6 or so females. They usually do well with Cory cats!

Would these do alright with Geos or would they nip their trailers off?
They would most likely be ok, but larger geos could potentially eat them?
Amazing ❤❤❤🐡🐠🐟🐙
Would they be ok with black neons or a community tank with cherry barbs? Many thanks
For sure!
@@PrimeTimeAquatics 😎👍
Cool fish definitely I had a group of them in with angels and they ate them I have 1 lest that’s big
Hey Prime Time Aquatic uh is this stocking list way overstocking for a 20 gallon long planted tank ?
3x Wrestling (1 male and 2 female)
1-3x Sunset Honey Gourami
10x CPD
8-10x Cherry Barb
6x Harlenquin Rasbora
6x Kuhli Loach
3x Reticulated Hillstream Loaches
1x Panda Gara (Garra flavatra)
And some Malaysian Trumpet Snail, Cherry Shrimp, and 3x Bambo Shrimp (Atyopsis moluccensis).
I might cut one of the schooling fish out and see how everything looks first?
How would they do with Black Ruby Barbs and Snake Skin Barbs?
They should do well together!
@@PrimeTimeAquatics WooHoo!!!
I want to make the same setup but with White clouds !
Nice!

I would add more!
@@PrimeTimeAquatics thanks! But should I add more females only? Or more males only?
I had a dozen of these in a 20 gallon planted aquarium, unfortunately they displayed a lot of aggression amongst each other.
when i bought my school, the lfs owner asked if i was sure i wanted 30. he couldn't fathom that somebody wanted them to be the focal fish! their tips also vary in brightness and shininess.
That’s cool!
I had ten .4 male 6 females, each male became territorial bullies, chasing any and all other fish from their area.will not have them again.4ft heavily planted community tank.
Good looking but bad behavior reviews. It's a shame
Male are so agresive,, i had 10 of them, they are harasing in the tank, almost kill each other, i don't need them, they harasing, my guppies, betta,,,
I could see them being tough on Bettas.
