    Interesting history on the torque wrench. I usually go by the old adage that "Tight is tight, but broke is too tight."

    Could you use your lathe to pare down the ends of the valve stems? Not sure if the chuck would allow you to grip the valve stem with the flared end back behind the chuck, if that makes any sense. Just a thought.

      Yes, that would be perfect. I’m not sure, either, if it will fit on the chuck … and I’m not sure if the chuck would mar the valve. I will check it out.
