Red Lantern Reviews I mean Skullface definitely had a motive, but I think the operative word there was obnoxious. Bolton is kind of a cartoony shovinistic villain, and I never really felt he was annoying, just entertaining. Skullface on the other hand has an interesting motive (don’t see too many antiglobalists), but his antics are plain out silly and underdeveloped.
The way Johnny pronounces Pythagoras is just hilarious. Are the characters in Metal Gear Ac!d not voiced, or do they pronounce it that way for some insane reason?

At least a card-based Action RPG could make sense (Im not a fan). A tactical RPG needs tactics. You just can't put luck in it, or else it is a bad game. The biggest problem is card-based movement. That leads to enemies, likely very easily, getting the upper hand. I've never played it, but it seems pretty bad.
Sometimes I wish they had made the Ac!d games play like a traditional MG game, since it would work much better than MGS:PO with the control scheme. Like having them play like MGS 2 with small tweaks needed and much less handling since there'd be no need for dual camera movement cuz the main camera is an overhead view, fixed camera
I can see why you wouldn't like card-based RPG systems, Johnny. The whole concept tends to contradict itself by allowing you to plan position-sensitive strategies, only to then make the actual execution luck-based with a deck of cards. And in the context of very limited options like Metal Gear AC!D pushes on you, it can be very frustrating.

Especially since these kinds of things tend to already be RNG dependant enough as is (accuracy, evasion, etc) without completely taking effective planning control away from the player with cards. I feel games like Metal Gear Acid would be far better if they removed the cards entirely. Case in point: See games like XCOM. Your gear is your gear and you can rely on your gear and you're never at the whim of "oh, you suddenly only have consumables and no weapons in a heated firefight."
tim5fl Eh, I wouldn't be so quick about that. Baten Kaitos did a very good job at the mix, though the combat system didn't involve any position-sensitive maneuvers, I think. And Phantasy Star Online 3 was also well-made

I was in love with the concept of the AC!D games from the moment I saw them, but after watching this I can't help but be disappointed. This makes me wish for an AC!D game that further streamlines the card system, has a bigger budget behind it and if cards aren't the way to go perhaps make the gameplay more along the lines of XCOM as it's my favorite strategy game in terms of managing simplicity and depth as well as smooth flowing gameplay and would love to see stealth take a greater precedent in such a game.

+SomecallmeJohnny As someone who's played a ton of Fire Emblem, I'll definitely say that it's a series with a pretty steep learning curve, so it can be daunting to newcomers. It's definitely something you have to set aside time to learn and get used to, but can be very rewarding once you get the hang of it. I don't think it's a series that everyone will love though, especially if you don't have the free time to play it.

+Smasher Flawed Haven't really dived into any of them except for Awakening, and even then that's only a couple of hours.
+SomecallmeJohnny As someone who's played a ton of Fire Emblem, I'll definitely say that it's a series with a pretty steep learning curve, so it can be daunting to newcomers. It's definitely something you have to set aside time to learn and get used to, but can be very rewarding once you get the hang of it. I don't think it's a series that everyone will love though, especially if you don't have the free time to play it.
FE is better than those 2 from the looks of it. Especially Fates, which flows faster than Awakening did but quite a bit

Well they kind of have to pay to have them there, not only that but's also an odd licensing issue, it's why not all old PSP digital titles are there for VITA (unless you grabbed them during that one PSN glitch weekend that let you grab all the ones you bought......which I did :D)

Jason Booth yep, a period of 3 days in which a bug in the VITA system let you get all of your old games, even PSP DLC, despite licensing so long as you had already paid for it.
