i love these videos covering dlc only features!!
If you select a late start date, make a custom nation then select a religion not in 1444 you can save the template. Switch back to 1444 and use that template to make a custom nation with protestant, reformed, or sikh in... 1444.
Yup!
Might start playing eu4 again to start doing this.
Wait, thats actually broken
Didn't know you could do this actually
getting actually started playing a game is so hard after playing this game since release lol
Try playing something else.
The Count Cristo beef is real, fellas!
It's time
That intro was spot on, can't even remember how many times I booted up EU4, remembered I have to do estate setup and just quit lol
Well, you don't really have to. I feel like in this game people tend to sacrifice the fun for playing optimally. Which is fine if that's what you want but like, you don't have to.
@@Quwertyn007 well you don't HAVE to but I feel like I NEED to
Like, I'm not a minmaxer my ideas are never "meta" I just pick something to roleplay my nation but I can't ignore a mechanic like estates as I feel like I just miss out on a part of the game
It is annoying when you start the game, do the estates and unpause and can't continue the game because of poor rng with alliances
@@IronWolf123 that's why I always create a backup after doing my estates, that way I can just load that save again if I get bullshit rng
I really hate how the estate setups work in EU4...
I know a pretty unique custom nation strategy - you can create a 6-6-6 ruler with Immortal ruler trait. As this particular trait is very expensive (800 points), you have to minimise the amount of points spent on provinces, ideas, tech group & government and heir & consort. With such limitations, your CN can own only a handful of low dev provinces, but with such amazing ruler you can dev them up easily.
Also, as your ruler cannot die (unless you assign him to an army as a general), you can become the HRE Emperor for the rest of the game.
Try it out for a refreshing and kinda weird experience.
Unless you form mamluks, in that case hell definitely die
Can be fun! Careful with AI use of this though as they will make him a a general and he will die that way :(
@@LemonCake101 If you make the ruler a women, that should (in most cases) prevent the AI from doing so.
@@hans-rosakrause590 It does! But being a women also prevents winning the Emperorship until pragmatic sanction.
@@LemonCake101 True, so if you're Christian, that definately would affect it.
i can't be bothered to actually set up the custom nation
Watch EU4 let's plays
>creates OP custom nation
>watches it conquer the world by 1525
Well, that happened.
Whenever I play EU4, 99% of the time it is a custom nation.
My most common nations/scenarios I go back to is:
Creating a mini prussia in Albania, with OP military NI.
Creating a mini Austria on Malta focused on diplomatic relations and vassals, while creating a vassal that is another mini prussia on Calabria, while creating a "horde" vassal on djerba. This way I don't have to focus on military, just deving and trading. Basically being a sugar daddy
Creating Pirate Republic on Bornholm, with OP starting naval NI. No military, only Marines.
Random new world is the best thing ever
FR Idk why the eu4 community is so turned off by it
Because it creates less and worse landmass, just straight up less provinces
@@mememetal6631I think it also blocks some achievements
It breaks too much in practice :(
There should be random whole world.
I remember making custom nations to practice game mechanics without the mission trees confusing things.
Vinland (although I didn't give them the Western tech group as I wanted the aesthetic of a Viking civilization which had been somewhat cut off from Western Europe for 500 years), Ming Treasure Fleet lost in Hawaii, Roman Empire Fled to Tasmania and a few like that.
One idea I'd had was to create an Icelandic custom nation based on the idea that the Icelandic Thinggr Holfstadt had never fallen (or at least survived till 1444), however I wasn't sure whether it should start Norse or Catholic and whether to make it a Merchant Republic, Noble Republic or Peasant Republic.
Nice video, this is very fun to with friends, I can speak there from experience.
And if you dont know what government you want to go, I can reccommend going for the "Livonian Autocracy"
That is not only because it has good modifiers (15% Forcelimit, 10% maintanance, Gov cap and AE impact and for some reason -0.1% army tradition decay)
but also because it has no requirements, while others like the asha monarchy for example require you to be zoroastrian, crusader state requires you to be catholic etc.
Doing a custom nation game with random tags is peak and can be fun to watch and play around with.
Agreed, I love playing that way with my friend
Best part is that there are achievements for custom nations!
Exactly! Shame you can't get it with this method though
Playing anbennar and multiplayer turned this game from a 1500 hour game to a 6k hour game for me
*heavy breathing* i like to watch
I have an issue with playing non-Ironman games. When I play regular games and start loosing I open the console and start cheating so hard that it’s fun until it isn’t. I was about to quit the game until I tried Ironman, that was a hard habit to break but I probably couldn’t play with custom nations without my will power being tested
Honestly preventing yourself cheating with ironman, or taking off the mental drain from doing it is fair
@@LemonCake101 I played Civ4 before I found EU4 and I never got good at it cause I started playing when I was 12 and only ever cheated at that game on settler difficulty. I would start the game and spawn in 100 of each great person and then just build wonders in 1 day. It was legit fun for a long time but it kinda made it impossible to learn the game. Didn’t want that to happen with this one too
same thing happened to be tbh - I think we cheated when we were learning the game to keep it fun, but once we got good cheating was the thing that made it unfun.
You are literally me, I am even good enough to not lose with any country thats stupid weak, but no ironman means at least a free 500 ducats (as a treat)
9:41 pretty sure that AI can change culture by getting that event that one of the advisors teaches his culture onto tags heir and then later event where ruler makes their culture the primary culture of the tag
They can but in practice, they don't.
@@LemonCake101 speak for yourself, I saw England form Ireland once
@@YataTheFifteenth oh damn fair!
very interesting vid as always, i love the cakey boy
I always play as custom nation. Usually two types confucian horde or hussite/hindu/shito high american nation outside of america
holland and brabant are members of the hre iirc but flanders isnt
Oh fair
Congrats on getting more subs than Mount Cristo
perfect lunch break vid
I need that chad couch potato from the thumbnail, golden stuff
Its on google, same as all my other chads!
The main reason why people get bored of eu4 is because they have never played sicily
Actually just set up one for the Around the World in 80 Years achievement. Made it so I took all of Ireland and most of Scotland as a Polynesian Alcheringa Peasant Republic with Western Tech with -30% election cost and 40% monarch life expectancy. I also pimped it out with 10% discipline, 20% Settler Chance, 20% Production Efficiency, 40% Colonial Range, 20 extra settlers monthly, an extra colonist, and like -50% Regiment Drill Loss. I had to take one of the negative debuffs for no building over force limit to stay under the 400 cap, but I have a colonizing and stealth military powerhouse with crazy monarch point generation before I even take my first idea group.
I dont even own EU4 and i watch these videos
Dzień dobry,🇵🇱
Dziękuję
There are a few mods that alter what things you can add to a custom nation without being ridiculous.
For instance, in addition to the regular "development cost" reduction, I've seen a "development cost modifier" (development efficiency) reduction, which alters the rate at which the development cost increases each time you dev a province rather than the cost itself. Something that is normally applied in increments as you get later admin technology, presumably to simulate the exponential growth of populations and economies during the game's timeframe? With the additional modifier from the outset you can essentially place your country some hundred or so years ahead of the rest in that regard.
Combining 'development cost' and 'development cost modifier' reductions can result in a very potent playing tall nation. And it goes really well with the 'governing capacity' and 'state governing cost' modifiers.
Likewise mods let you combine "morale of armies" and "morale damage taken", which apparently isn't listed in the regular game's nation designer, to field armies that can stand in battle for considerably longer than any others you might come across.
Ok, hear me out. High American Atlantis.
You know, instead of giving the "colonial" nation western tech and granting the colonizers better maps, you could instead invest the same points into the high american tech group and get just better stats on your untis.
That too!
Another thing you can do is give the ruler an existing dynasty for potential easy PU-s. You only need the same name.
Omg, I saw the AI ignore the zone of control once, I thought i was tripping 😭
custom nation + random world is joated. You can just save your custom nation's settings and reroll the world map if, say, Circassia owns all of Russia + Poland and you decided to play in Belarus. I like it better than historical europe where like half your neighbors are 200-300 dev at game start and there's like five independent nations below 100 outside the HRE.
Only used custom nations once, and that was a few years back when there was an exploit that meant you could make a CN with more than 800 points in Ironman...
Never thought about using it for AI nations for gameplay purposes but that's a great idea! Especially the idea of colonising and finding a blobbed Vinland (or similar) that you have to deal with
It would be great if you could pick a mission/flavour set from a country that you are meant to replace. There would have to be limitations on which set you could pick (obviously the region you start in, often culture of religion, certain government reforms, etc.). Without any kind of added flavour custom nations feel boring and bland when compared to the vast majority of countries until you form a tag, but then - why a custom nation?
That would be pretty cool!
I've formed nations with custom nations before, it's great if you want to play with different ideas than normal
another option : play a partial CK3 map (iberia only, silk road only, etc) then convert it to EU4 with cultural tradition national ideas
Can you make a policy tier list? Would be awesome to see best possible idea combinations for best policies!
One big problem is that AI custom nations can't form other nations, while it could be very OP for an AI custom nation to get missions I think the main reason is that the AI takes new ideas.
Every province tier list when?
remind me in 2 years when lemoncake is gonna be beefing sub counts with ludi et historia
Yay, S-rated national ideas!
Lemon you should do Culture tier list :)
ua-cam.com/video/qtBsmb4nZkQ/v-deo.html
You could also spawn Janmayen or the synthetics or maybe both for an more amazing and unique gameplay
Waitaha supremacy
Australia is such boring content that sometimes I just create one single "Australian emirate" or empire "Huy", with good maritime abilities, it's a cool country, I like to see how it sometimes tries to unite Oceania, finally realizing the potential of Australia, in the form of a serious maritime competitor in Asia.
Finally. I can not play eu4
Well you can make a searies from this. Using 800/200/50 points make a nation that will have the most dev in 1812.
Some strategy regarding location and national ideas etc.
Can you do a video about EU3 features that aren't in EU4?(if i remember correctly, there are fairly medium quantity of things)
I have an idea for you. Every province tier list but split it with regions so a video for each region
I think that is now the 100th time that has been suggested (no I have not been keeping a tally no idea what you are on about, congratulations!)
It doesn't work because it doesn't address the main concerns of taking over 100 hours in total, of pure talking, and loads of other issues like 'what icons do I use for each province'.
@@LemonCake101 do it for free depression
@@albinosbruh4713 no
AI always debase if they have no corruption, so a -corruption idea is useful and not too OP.
AI very often use harsh treatment, so you can mitigate mil points wasted if you want. Speaking of mil points wasted: don't give them Prussian government, they spam militarization.
I wanted this game on hard to be like vic 2. AI FULL schizo
I wonder, is it possible to make something akin to CK2's Sunset Invasion by making a strong american AI custom nation?
9:40 on that I had ai Denmark change to a german primary culture group twice in some Ai games is there an event of some sort or is it just weird?
Lemon, we haven't had a modifier stacking video in a while, is everything okay with you?
Not many good modifiers left to stack really
@@LemonCake101 How about artillery contribution to siege/ vs fort?
@@BobbiusRossius could be a shout in fairness
@@LemonCake101 i mean i wonder if its in theory possible to instantly win a siege if you stack it enough
also when mahafaly streams?
Where is the guy asking for the all provinces tierlist? Ah screw it, I'll do it myself.
Province tierlist when
There is much to be done
He can't be around all the time!
I did this with 3 fantasy custom nations in New World. It was boring af, and they formed colonial nations and ditched cool names and flags.
Yeah you have to be careful with that
This doesn’t apply to me as I am clinically addicted to eu4
Map gamers are something else entirely, are you telling me that now you don't even need to play with the map just watch it move on it's on?😂😂
