- Here we go again. Video 1 of a full restoration of a 1971 International Harvester Cub Cadet 147. Includes a run down of the tractor's features as well as a how to guide for testing your Delco Remy starter generator. Come along for the ride.
Just bought one!
Very nice. I sure hope to have time to get back on my restoration one day. :/
woo whoo another project from ya!!!
Loooooove this video, me and a buddy flip mowers just for fun, and there's good profit in it, so we got one of these last week and WE LOVE IT... so we will b learning a lot of old school mechanics, DO YOU HAPEN TO HAVE A service manual you could e mail or were to get one, thx....will watch all the restoration 👌🔧👍
Brings back memories. My dad had one he bought new then passed on to me. It had every bit of 4k hours on it when it was finally too tired to cut anymore. Dad is gone now, I wish I would have kept it and restored it. Great tractors.
I have the exact same machine is excellent condition and was wondering what it was worth. I almost "gave" it away for peanuts, but now I know better. With the cutter and snowplow, tire chains, new battery, solenoid and a few small parts, I'll ask $800. Always stored inside, so there's almost no rust. Glad I caught this video. Many thanks.
I have a 1979 International cub cadet 782 that i am going to restore once i get done restoring my 1966 Allis Chalmers big 10
Nice, are you posting any videos?
@@TheSaturnV i can
Nice!!!!
Was wondering if you were working on anything else.... LOL
Should turn out great!!!

looking good buddy! Great cub for a resto!
i mean it buddy ,
your attention to detail really impresses me :)
keep up the good work
I have a 129 and a 154 Lo-Boy
Michael Ellestad Really like those Lo-Boys
You're one of the best. Don't get on the net on Mondays but had to look in when the email alert came in. Didn’t disappoint!
it is really nice when you make your own wiring harness
Thanks bud. You do some really cool and unique projects, keep 'em coming.
I really planned on it, but a deal popped up on ebay. $90 for the main, headlight and lift harness. By the time I would have bought the wire, proper connectors and good mesh covering I would have already had $60 and a bunch of time searching for the right bits. The seller is Porch Electric, really glad I went that way once I opened the box.
I hear ya. These old Cubs are really well built. I plan on putting mine to regular use.
Thanks HB, good to to have another project to dive into.
Yeah, want it to come out nice but still be a worker. Not much use for trailer queens.
love how the song whistles at the international symbol like that lol
looks like a top notch operation :)
thumbs up from 500
Where did you order your parts from
All over. Some from ebay, Tulsa Engine Warehouse (now defunct), and if you go to www.onlycubcadets.net you can see a list of their sponsors that sell all kinds of Cub Cadet parts.
I love this series, awesome
Love the music
smoothycrimanal gaming Me too! 🙂
If we are talking about the same part, it is called a wrag joint. It is rubber to absorb vibration. I have no idea where you could find one. I made with a cut off wheel and cutting a piece out of the sidewall of an old tire.
Cool! i'm watching Saturn. This should be a nice machine once your done.
good to see another post from ya Saturn!
take care buddy....
Awesome vid. I love the 147 model the most. Pretty big gas tank? They work great but are thirsty engines. Look forward to the progress.
HI Scott. I thought I replied to this but maybe not. I think most of the problem was a combination of the S/G being dirty, the key switch being almost dead, the wiring shot, and a weak battery. Spins over just fine with those issues addressed.
Awesome! I can't wait to see this progress.......
You're welcome, hope it helps some ppl.
Always working on something, but usually not this fun. :) Hope you enjoy.
The loud knock you were talking about, could it have been the PTO knocking around? My 123s PTO knocked around really loud and sounded like a rod about to break. I wedged some woods chunks in it to stop it.
Agreed, beyond time for an update. I just got a new Mac for editing video, so things are about to swing back into action. Thanks for watching.
Yeah, really good candidate. Thanks!
I really don't know at this point. The thing is completely in pieces in my shop right now. I don't even remember talking about a knock in the vid, but there was a pretty big vibration going on. I'm hoping it smooths out a bit once I get it back together. Thanks for watching.
Yep, somewhere in the video I have a sub title about Porch Electric. Terrific folks and a great product. I bought the complete 147 kit, including the main, headlight and electric lift harnesses. Thanks for watching.
Yes, quite a few folks these days are restoring old GTs their fathers once owned. Maybe you'll see another like on craigslist one of these days. Here's to your pop.
cool tests, thanks!
I have a147 with the 14 horse. It has the same problem with tired starter gen.I replaced the brushes and still barely turns over. What was the problem with yours?
Oh yeah, luv a little Fed yeller & white myself. :]
Thanks Chewy, I appreciate that. Check your email tomorrow for an update on that project.
I have 4 mowers with kohlers two are 147 I love them but kohlers are known to hav a slight knock
It can also be the points making that noise. If they are not adjusted right it might make a very very slight knock.
cool test! thanks :D
I like the retro music on all your videos. It is very entertaining! lol. I was wondering if you could make a video of the front pto? I would like to install one my cub cadet someday.
Sure thing. I have it rebuilt and waiting to install, anything specific you want to see covered?
TheSaturnV Great! That would be awesome! Basically I would like to see how the pto works. I have the pulley but the rest is missing. Thanks!
It's time for an update. I wanna see.
The last narrow frame was the 86
The 86 was actually the first wide frame, and the 147 the last narrow.
Is mine worth anything mines a 127? Its in fair condition and runs
My dad and me work on tractors we have one that looks like it but it has a little rust I would put a electric lift on it
I have had most of the cub cadets ever made at one point and I had an electric lift on a 147. I had nothing against it at all so you should add one.
@@eastamericantrains589 I have a 127 cub cadet and I want to know if its worth anything it runs good and isnt rusty
andy moore it’s definitely worth a lot if it’s complete with a deck and hold air in all tires and good battery it’s worth 400. Don’t sell it though you’ll never get another one.
@@eastamericantrains589 why wont I get another one if there only worth 400$?
@@eastamericantrains589 I will keep it tho I think it's cool.
Do you recognize anything from the 122 in this video? Those are nice machines, let me know if I can do anything to help. In case you don't already have it bookmarked, Only Cub Cadets IH forum would be a great help to putting that back together. Really knowledgeable folks. Yours is also a narrow frame Cub, btw.
I have a 122 cub cadet it is a narrow frame
Vid 2 is out!! Lol
...on a $50 dollar budget.
:D
Thanks bud.
:D Only us tractor nerds "get it."
:D Fun times.
update??????
cool tests, thanks!
