@@serioushex3893 eh, raid is such a meme at this point that I don't think anyone ever falls for the ads anymore. if they're still willing to give a shitload of money to people we like, sure, let 'em
Do Filipino food and Jollibee
@@Narfwak I will be happy for them to get the money if it means I never have to play the bloody thing
They are eating sushi with a fork. I don’t understand
Ugh, I want to be eating all of this deliciousness again! 🙈🙏Now I'm starving, THANKS TRY 😭
Take Remi out for a walk and get some takeaway then.
I love to cook for you, just visit Belgium. Also, let’s taste some proper beer
Do you have a P.O. Box? Would love to send you some award winning locally brewed mead (once mail is fixed due to C-19) since you enjoyed it so much. Also, can you request TRY to put you in a video? You could ask them to have you vs LJG in a Battleshots video. The fans would lose their minds! ~Be Blessed
I’m with you, I want sushi so bad now and the shop near doesn’t stock it 😪🤪
I’d love for people to put all this in front of me just once
Some inside info: Me and Jamie did this shoot in 20 minutes. A Try channel record. So proud.
Aren't you known for finishing early tho 🤨 😂 😉 💯
Did you actually clean every plate too? Lol
Nice, it all looked so good too.
I appreciated that Armie Hammer joke
Dermot... Are you in the next video? Plz let us know! Peace
So if Katsu means “to win or be victorious” does that mean this meal is winner winner chicken dinner?
This comment needs to be liked more 🤣
@@veryinteresting5870 ^^^ totally agree.
🤣🤣🤣
BARZ
It's an explosion of winning!
(don is Japanese for boom!)
KATSU CURRY TO LINE THE STOMACH BEFORE THE SESH FTW 💜🍻
It was definitely a good foundation to build upon.
I wonder what the venetian blinds would taste like?
Here here Justine! Another dish I recommend is konkatsu- it’s Japanese breaded, thin sliced pork served with an amazing sauce. It’s my favorite Japanese food, and I think you will love it!! 😋❤️
So what would you say to popcorn Durian? 😈😈
I cook katsukare at least once a month..
Spoiler Alert, the tryers have had very good things lately. So coming soon, revenge of the Durian - part 3. 😂
If you listen carefully, you can hear Justine's cries on the wind...
I'm waiting for the Durian alcohol shoot!
Carolina Reaper flavored Durian snacks....muwahahahahaha 😈😈
Nailed it. We need Durian part 3
@@Kikujirosan Carolina Reaper & Durian infused absinthe :D
I can't decide what's more enjoyable: when they love what they're eating or when they absolutely hate it.
Personally, I prefer to see them enjoy the shoot. The Try Easter video this year might be my all time favorite.
Love > Hate. I think the Krispy Kreme episode is their best.
It's more fun watching them squirm. Except the Easter egg video..that one was so joyful
I think a good mixture of both is always a good watch.
Both
Jamie’s laugh is the best. I love when it’s surprised out of him.
Yep. He's got an incredible laugh.
I miss him so much :(
"This is a good foundation. We could add a lot of flavors to these noodles."
Exactly, I was going to say this! At the restaurants (and usually if you get ramen to go) they provide pots of spicier condiments to adjust the flavor to your liking
Justine got to the heart of ramen, but I also admire Donal's thoroughness. He did it right... eat it all, then drink the broth from the bowl.
Wrong noodles, though. They looked like udon.
I was thinking some eel sauce in there with just a touch of spiciness as well.
Always a good time when Justine and Ciara are on camera.
Agreed! 👍
Good pairing
Now we need Ciara and Justine cooking Japanese food together lol
They've talked about a food/baking collab on their respective Patreons. Just need some cans to accompany the shoot.
Ciara: Seafood Fricasse atop a Tempura Shark - Justine: Cod and Chips
We need to have them try fresh durian together.
Yes please.
Id watch that channel
The eight most dreaded words in the English language: "This video is sponsored by Raid: Shadow Legends."
I can't stand video sponsors.
@@ashleydowney1222 they accept the deals because UA-cam is being a cunt
Video sponsors are fine, just make it something a bit more appealing. Like Durian-scented body-wash.
Yeah, but imagine all the good Raid did with sponsoring virtually everyone :p
@@ashleydowney1222 sponsorship I am fine with...Raid is another matter.
Donal and Jamie might be my new favorite couple, they are hilarious together.
Same!! 😎🤪😁😂😅🙂🙃🙂
I would pay good money to see ‘Irish people try magic mushrooms’... 😂
Me too.
Maybe in a live stream format so there could be audience participation.... i bet the comments section would be great craic.
Possession of magic mushrooms is illegal in Ireland, so probably not the best idea for a company to put out a public video on a famous channel with over a million subscribers showing them trying magic mushrooms in Ireland 😂
@@IceMetalPunk I never said it was a good idea, just that I’d like to see it 😂
It'd have to be pay per view.
I think Jaime and Donal came to this with super appetites like they didn't eat anything until this shoot...
For days...

"Do you like the taste of fish in your mouth?"
"Depends on the fish" 😂😂😂😂😂
Can’t fault his logic.
2:21 Anne's face! "Damnit Paddy, don't remind me!"
After 'frothing at the gash' 'do you like the taste of fish in your mouth' has to be the second funniest line in the history of TTC.
Looks over at Anne "Depends on the fish."
Love a bitta fish.
Paddy,
Love the Dead Pan look straight into the camera when you replied "depends upon the kind of fish"! Absolutely Brilliant.
Actually sushi is not the best for you, white refined rice turns easily into glucose, aka sugar which is easily processed and absorbed, which might cause you sugar levels to spike and then crash later. Depending where you buy it or what type, fish might be as little as 15% of the total roll, so not exactly a protein feast. Depending on how much soy sauce you like or crunchy bits that are fried in canola oil, your sugar, salt, calorie number might be lower if you eat a Big Mac.
You handled that as gracefully as anyone I've ever seen. Fair play to you. Anne looked like she immediately regretted her phrasing and you let her off the hook, like a gentleman.
@@marianchicago4002 who asked though
Jamie’s laugh is so contagious! 😁😆😂🤣
First time I've ever seen someone eat the pickled ginger WITH the sushi. It's generally a palate cleanser between bites.
I've done that! Better taking a bite with a bit of pickled ginger and soy sauce than wasabi. I love it when I get a small bowl of miso soup to go with the sushi. I can test my chopstick skills getting that one little cube of tofu at the bottom.
@@mayloo2137 It's soy and wasabi for me, but I am intrigued, and wondering why I'd never even tried it before even out of morbid curiosity.
I don’t like wasabi so I usually put my pickled ginger into my soy sauce to infuse and do often eat it on the sushi.
I think because its given on the same plate they assumed to do that.
As an uncultured swine I thought it was customary to eat the ginger with sushi. I first found the ginger disgusting, now I can't enjoy my sushi rolls without it 🙈 Whenever I go out for sushi, I'll literally hide the ginger so I don't offend the chef or embarrass those with me. I can't believe I've duped myself into such a shameful habit but... I just love it so much!
Every once in a while these wholesome episodes where everyone is enjoying are good for the soul.
Sean - "So, Donal, how do find the Japanese food?"
Donal - "mmmmMMMMMmmm....Feed me moRE!!!
Having learned to eat sushi in Okinawa, the ginger is used as a palette cleanser. Its used before eating and in between dishes. You literally scrub your tongue with it as a natural soap.
They put the pickled ginger on top of the Maki? Now that's something I've never seen lol.
First thing I noticed and cringed/laughed at. That's a no no.
It's a palate cleanser, not a garnish (also it's disgusting, but that's just my opinion)
@@brockmarie 100% agree with you. It's gross and meant to be eaten between rolls to cleanse your palate.
In the British isles we've embraced it on the sushi (that shit never came with instructions) and now i really enjoy it
I eat a lot of sushi and I do this sometimes. I put it into my soy sauce too to impart some ginger flavor
Salmon is my enemy. Thanks for all the deliciousness TRY!
I'm very picky about my fish too.
Your happiness is contagious - thanks for sharing it and brightening the day!
That's okay; I'll have yours.
There’s no in betweens with Anne, she likes something, or she doesn’t.
Same here, but I will only have salmon one way, and that is dried and smoked salmon
Jamie making an Irish Tuna mash out of the sushi is savage. Eating up like the boys did is a compliment to the chef. They also seemed really hungry ;)
When will you do wisconsin cuisine? Deep fried Cheese curds, brats with sauerkraut, booyah, cranberries, kringle, frozen custard, butter burgers... Rumchatta, and lots of wisconsin micro beers or our fruit wines
"You can taste the oil'... Lol, don't worry about the oil in the prawns, ole son, it's the dipping sauce that'll get you. That mayonnaise is more than 99.9% oil.
This is the happiest I have seen a taste crew since the first Krispy Kreme doughnut episode.
You forgot the Easter chocolate one they recently did 🙃
And the Lindt chocolates.
Time for Field Trip to Krispy Kreme with 6 Try Channel members.
Finally! The Donal/Jamie combo! The most adorable duo!!
Aye - Justine and Ciara are always fantastic together. But Donal and Jamie stole the show this time. Well done, gentlemen!
'katsu' actually comes from the English word 'cutlet'. It's a western-inspired dish. It just sounds similar for the word meaning "win".
Traditionally the Japanese palate prefers a more mild flavor and tends to favor more umami (savory), salty foods with maybe a splash of acidity over things that are super spicy. so for those wondering why the curry and chicken are not spicy that is the reason. also when it comes to the curry its usually more thick than other curries as it sticks to rice easier since that's their main source of carbs and starches. The Thai and Indians often eat their food with a mix of rice accompanied with a traditional bread such as naan or roti which soaks up the curry. Japanese didn't really have a bread to go with it at the time it spread to them so it was adapted to be more thick so that it would stick to rice and food and then they made it more mild to agree more with the average Japanese palate.
Paddy is getting fit! What a beefcake!
A good home cooked Japanese curry with be full of veggies. I miss my mom so much. She made the best curry 😭😭
I didn't know the Japanese served curries. My local Japanese lunch place pretty much just had sushi, teriyaki, and tempura.
@@bigdream_dreambig I’ve found that only Japanese restaurants that cater to Japanese people or do more home style cooking serve curry. I’ve only found one place in Chicago that has good curry.
@@hanaj Yeah, it's very much a homestyle dish in Japan, a stereotypical kids favorite, although there are certainly plenty of places that serve it, or have some sort of curry.
@@bigdream_dreambig Yeah, apparently they got it from the British in the 1800s, or something. It doesn't actually taste like Indian curry. It's sweeter and thicker, more of a stew.
Ciara and Justine together, I can just sit and listen to them talk for hours. Though Justine needs some more durian fruit foods
The pickled ginger is a palate cleanser. Eat it between types of sushi, so you don't mix flavours. Plus ... it's damn tasty all by itself.
Only if you like ginger. I personally don't. I prefer my sushi as is with nothing else. No soy sauce, wasabi, or ginger.
Just because of the Raid ad at the beginning, I feel the production staff should have to do an episode dedicated to durian fruit.
This needs to be top comment!
"Can I have both?"
"That's the right answer - you win!"
I think we all win today
So glad everyone got to enjoy themselves - thanks for the laughs and smiles everyone!
I'd honestly REALLY would love to see these guys take on Korean Food especially something with gochujang in it. That'll get their spice senses tingling
Glad you enjoyed Japanese food! Japanese food isn’t normally spicy. As many Japanese people don’t do too well with spicy food. Therefore it tends to be mild. That being said however, there is some spicy food in Japan though not as much as Korean or Thai cuisine.
Well now I want to see the unedited version with Donal and Jamie lol
LOVE this channel! Been around since the FACTS channel days.
You need to do a JApanese food Pt 2, with Unagi, Yakisoba, Sukiyaki, Donburi, Okonomiyaki, etc.
"I had a family....and they died!!!" 🤣😂🤣😂 "I" died! LMAO
I spent 12 days in Japan a couple years ago and it was great. I've been hoping to go back soon. Most of the food is reasonably priced but I did eat at one sushi restaurant that was $100 per person. Very fancy.
I bet it was worth every penny though! 😂
I love seeing you guys respond positively to stuff. Especially Japanese food. So tomorrow The TRY Channel is taking all of you to the best Japanese restaurant in Dublin and it's
all on them !!! Such a great company!😎
I see Dónals family is still starving him🤣😂😂 Please feed him!
Japanese food is incredible beyond words. 😍 is it only me or do Ciara and Justine kill it?
I'm flipping out over eating sushi with a fork - and I don't even eat sushi. hahahaha
Or how that one guy sliced a sushi roll in half with a fork 🤣
Sushi is a food you can eat with your fingers. Skip the fork and chopsticks.
I think it would be VERY interesting to see Paddy do Japan!
I know I'm not an Irish People but damn I'd love to take part in an episode someday. Also: I need a curry katsu now.
Growing up eating home cooked Japanese food, I agree with Justine. The katsudon and ramen are definitely foundations to build upon and usually are. My family always added roasted veggies to Japanese curry especially (we'd cook big pots of it and that'd be dinner for days). There are whole cookbooks on what to add to ramen to spice it up (literally and otherwise). Love that y'all love it either way.
I will say that, as an Asian person, I was dying watching y'all eat it with a fork. Especially the sushi! OMG LOL
I want Covid to be sorted so I can send you all Midwestern foods.
Yes.
“If I ever get a girlfriend...” 😂
A video where everybody is laughing constantly and uncontrollably and eating.... released the day after 4/20... I’m onto y’all
funny thing, 4/20 without the slash is 420, which if divided by 10 is 42, the answer to life, the universe and everything
Absolutely love Justine and Ciara together!
I'm glad they were served more "mainstream" Japanese foods as there are several really odd Japanese dishes and delicacies, but giving them one weird dish wouldn't have hurt. Was Donal high when he shot this video? It would explain both how much and how fast he ate, as well as his constant laughter...not that it's a bad thing. Thanks for this! ~Be Blessed
Some of the more western influenced food might have been neat to have them try too, as it has a degree of familiarity, yet is also not the typical way the food is used in the west, and also isn't the first thing that would normally come to mind when thinking of Japanese cuisine.
shoulda served Nato at one point xD
Glad to see that Colin is finally feeding you properly
i love these videos make me happy people enjoyiing diff food
Always a bright spot to the evening. Thank you!
Donal holds his fork differently in every scene. Skillz
I'm a simple man. I see Ciara's radiant smile and I upvote.
Japanese food is superb!!! We have a few different Japanese restaurants but I definitely have a favorite in my "area" .... still have to travel to get there since living in a rural farming community. But so worth it!!! Hibachi grill, bento boxes, sushi, soups, noodles, dumplings, tempura, etc. Just LOVE it!!!
That was so fun to watch all the groups.
I love them enjoying themselves! Such a wholesome video
Just some information, japanese food, though flavorful, is not spicy. Most japanese stuff is actually a little bland if you're used to really bold flavors. But it can be good when you just want to slow down and actually enjoy the flavors of the ingredients themselves and not the seasonings and aromatics.
I'm a bit confused. You say it's flavorful but also a little bland. I'm pretty sure one would cancel out the other.
@@hotsauce5745 hmmm, I'm Indian and for most people around me that's very easy to understand.
I'll try harder.
Basically it doesn't really have explosive flavors like heat and sweet and sour. It's more about depth of the flavour, the umami flavours.
So basically people I know would say, thoda phika hai but bada swaad hai. Which translates to, it's a little bland but it's very tasty.
@@hotsauce5745 They're using "bland" as the opposite of spicy, not the opposite of flavorful.
@@hotsauce5745 a better way to explain it, dishes in japan tend to try and bring out the flavors of what your cooking or making rather than tons of spices of seasonings. A good example is sushi. Master sushi chefs in Japan make sushi in ways to specifically bring out the flavor of the fish being served. To the point of, some sauces and things like wasabi are discouraged because it would 'tarnish the flavor of tbe fish' thus not be what they wanted to present for the meal. Almost like art. Another example of sushi is if you have shashimi or nigiri, (where the rice is exposed rather than a roll wrapped in nori) its polite to dip the fish side in soysauce so you dont soak it all up with the rice, thus throwinf off the flavor of the rice itself. The fish isnt the same so you can control the amount of sauce on it.
I would say "mild" instead of "bland".
Everyone is still eating the popcorn prawns and Ciara's plate is already clean and she's asking for more. Respect!
Jamie's laugh makes me so happy, every time I hear it.
Why would you eat sushi with a fork? My head can't handle this. 😂
Personally, it doesn't really bug me how people eat sushi. I like using my hands, most people use chopsticks and some people use forks.
anne and ciara were absolutely great in this vid. i wish i had that level of excitement when eating, or doing anything for that matter!
Absolutely great content as always! Thanks again try channel for being the highlight of my evening!!
@3:43
Anne asked Paddy a question and the look she gives after hearing Patty's answer is so suspect. Anne u r so naughty.😉😄
Paddy gave the perfect reply " it depends on the fish" and I agree. ☺️
For the Record, I work Mon.-Fri. with weekends off (usually).
I cannot adequately describe how much sheer JOY I get on Monday, Wednesday and Friday when another Try Channel Video gets Posted! Much 💓 to one and all! Yes, that includes Colin too! 😂
Try South Korean if you'd like spice to be more ubiquitous. Japanese food has both spicy and non-spicy, but mostly non-spicy.
they already tried Korean food
They tried Korean food, and it was hella inaccurate. On top of that we had buddy bland taste bud Emmanuel disrespecting Asian food as usual
Such a good group of ppl. I love yall.
Okay that "magic mushroom" bit cracked me tf up, this time yall got a like for that bit XD
WHAT THE ACTUAL FORK... where are the chopsticks? That's half the fun, fumbling around with chopsticks! I think I speak for most of the viewers when I say I feel cheated that I didn't get to see which Tryers can do it, and who can't.
Glad I wasn't the only person who was triggered by them eating sushi with a fork 😆
Favorite parts of this video? Ciara and Justine 😍😍
Donal and Jamie cracking up at the end was classic. Excellent shoot all around!
I feel like the "fish taste in your mouth" - comment went slightly over Paddy's head there. 😂😂😂👏👏❤️
Guys, the line up of my favs is all I needed!! Patty, Ciara, Donal... 💜💜. What a treat!!
I lived near a Hawaiian-themed cafe that served great curry. The hangover special was the jungle curry, with a friend egg and 3 small sausages. Add chicken katsu on top and your headache was gone within minutes.
Oh, and as an aside, Japanese food generally doesn't have a lot of spice. Korean food has much spicier fare than Japanese food does.
"This video is sponsored by R-"
*skips a full minute ahead*
You had me at "depends on the fish". I love this channel.
I love the curry my mother makes. It's essentially like a stew, but with curry. Carrots, potatoes, onion, chicken/pork/steak in Vermont Curry. I wouldn't mind a trip with Ciara and Justine to Japan hitting up some ramen places. I've always wanted some authentic Japanese ramen with the egg, meat, and some veggies.
Japanese really know how to eat right. This video could have lasted for days.
I LOVE that you have not tortured these folks lately! How happy and fun this is! Thank you for mixing it up with nice things too. Extra good, Try.
Regarding the spice, ramen places will often let you pick the amount of spice you want, and/or have chile paste/spices at the table for you to customize to your own level.
Love to see everyone laffin and havin a good time.💚✌
I am shocked that they knew each dish. I would only have known tempura. I also like how casual everyone else looks. But Ciara looks decked out for serious business. She has come ready to play in top form. SO ON POINT.
It would have been proper to serve the food with beverage. Like sake, beer, tea... Because D. O'Riordan asked, “Do you have to let it linger?”
I have this on repeat. My favorite try episode so far..💚💚💚
So Katsudon is...winner winner chicken dinner! :D
You guys rock! Thank you so much!🤣💕💕💕💕💕💕
I love everything about this channel.
❤. The creative commentary is some of the best.
"You could build a flavorful house on this."
"Yes. You could add a duplex of flavors."
"Get those Venetian blinds in there...."
"One of those fancy kitchen islands."
Evening guys 🙂
I think we need to give them that actual spicy Japanese food. I mean they are asking for it.
What Japanese food is really spicy?
It's more ingredients than whole foods. Like wasabi. While it is true most Japanese food is mild, there's a lot of spicy versions of things such as spicy ramen and the like.
Every time I get Japanese food I’m always having to choose between Katsudon, Sushi, and ramen. It’s always a tough choice, but I’m never dissatisfied no matter the choice I make.
