Seriously, with all these UA-camrs running New York Marathon, Ben must by far be the best of them. 2:43 is by any standards a extremely good time. 227 place out of 50.000+. Mindblowing.
Brilliant stuff! What I like about running is that even we're not in the same galaxy ability wise, I can still relate to everything you're going through. :)
No kidding! I ran a 28 minute 5k today and felt like a rockstar 😂. The worst thing we can do is compare ourselves to others, especially guys like Ben that are so fast.
@@50Something true! I barely scraped together my one and only marathon, and I still know what it's like to hit the wall or to lose almost a year of progress because of an illness. Some things are just universal. 😂
Amazing achievement! The fact that you ran that course in 4h 11m when you were 15 years younger is a testament to your dedication to fulfilling your dreams through hard work and persistence. Kudos to you Ben, you are an inspiration!
Well done Ben🎉 savage time!! I ran it in 2022 in 24deg heat and 83% humidity 😢 it ruined it for me and a lot of people. I feel like I need to go again lol I loved the course and the atmosphere is like nothing else!!!
Such an inspiring video! I was there too and LOVED every minute of it. I did it in 3:58, but will keep working hard to improve as you did through the last 15 years ❤️
Running a very good time & still giving a commentary, I don't know how you do it mate! Looks like it was an amazing experience, so thankyou for taking those of us that can only dream of making it to NY along for the ride ❤
it's all relative to his own potential. it's 20 mins of his pb so what do you expect? if you ran 20 mins slower than youre pace you'd be able to do the same. seems more worried about videos than reaching potential atm. lame.
Love how you are using World Majors Marathons as training runs!! 🎉 Congrats on another great video and marathon!!! Can't wait to see what you do in Valencia 👏👏👊👊
Amazing to be able to re-live the race through your video Ben. This was my first ever marathon and as a long time NYC resident it was an absolute dream come true. I was so unsure of how I would do with the course and started off super conservative for the first 6 miles. This led to a nice negative split however and a finish time of 3.19. Am absolutely thrilled with how it went and I owe a lot of it to people like you who put out excellent content on how to train properly as well as motivate people to run and shoot for their goals. I can't wait to get back to regular training and improve more over the coming year. Hope to do another marathon next year. Awesome result Ben and glad you really enjoyed yourself out there as always!
Very true. Most sub 3 start with the same potential as those who scrape a sub 4; they just work smarter and harder. That's not knocking 4 hour runners, as that is where I'm at and I know what it takes to get to 4 hours.
What an amazing race! You are correct, that was TOUGH, those bridges and the "climb" into Central Park were no joke! My first NYC and 18th overall and easily one of my favorites. Thanks for the great video, it was fun to watch and think back to that day. The death march to the exit was kinda cruel though, I have never had to walk so far to leave a race after finishing haha.
Great job Ben! You're amazing! Yes I did do the NY marathon and I was looking for you... Disappointed I didn't see you but had a great time running the NY marathon. It was very difficult in my opinion but nevertheless it was a ton of fun and now very surreal. Thanks for sharing your journey 😊
I’m so proud of you Ben, this brings tears to my eyes. You deserve this so much after everything you give to us, and after some bad luck recently. Can’t wait to see what you do in Valencia mate, I wish you all the luck in the world - Nik
I always look out for the NY marathon. When I was about 15, my Dad did the NY, London and Paris Marathons in the same year and that inspired me to start running myself. I'd love to do the same one day.
NYC 2023 race was amazing, my favourite marathon to date, just edging out London. Ran with my partner to a 3:47 and we loved it. Seeing those sights and crowds through your video has brought back some wonderful memories, even the hills and massive straight streets.
Ben you absolute legend! Such an inspiration! I started running 4 months ago and will be having my first 15k race in December. Can't wait to further build up and eventually run a marathon :)
Well done Ben,I agree those hills go on forever I can’t believe I finished fourth Brit after breaking my fibula at the Boston marathon last year as you said never give up on your dreams great blog mate keep it up cp🏃🏻♂️🏴🇬🇧
Ahh thank you for this I’m running it next year and grateful for any advice and tips you’re incredible to run and film at the same time such an inspiration and a true gentleman of the running community
That was probably near to 2:35 on Chicago....it beat up many, so well done..... good rest and build to Valencia, got to be banging on the door of 2:30 in Valencia. 👍🦾🏃❤
Watching this, I was re-living all the pain I endured in the 2nd half of the race, and like you, I had to dig deep to finish 3.46. Was initially dissapointed with the time, but if people like you found it tough, then I know I can improve on that time, it was my debut marathon. Thanks for the great video!
Wonderful. Brought back so many happy memories of running NYC marathon in 1998 in a much slower 4:20. Aren't those crowds just amazing? But the uphill finish in Central Park was so tough! Well done, Ben. You must be pumped for Valencia.
You smile at the end says everything. What a hard course. Thank you for sharing your journey and the inspiration for my next ultra marathon Ultra trail Kosciusko 😊
You had an amazing run, great video and you seem to have out sprinted a lot of people, I finished in NYCM 4:28 there was a lot of people finishing when I finished, I want to go back and run it again, crowd support was amazing after waiting around for so long.
I lucky to run it this year myself too (even making a brief appearance in your video :). What a race, wow. It's an amazing experience, let alone if you also manage a cracking run like you did. Well done Ben. Also, well done to Sarah for working in the Run Steep Get High theme music - I rewatched that Jamil's video ahead of this year's race.
Delighted for you Ben! Great to see that big smile. With that time and elevation your clearly getting stronger. Can't wait to follow you on your Valencia journey.
Hi Ben congrats on an amazing NYC Marathon! I also ran my first ever NYC marathon but had some issues with my quads and lower back from mile 10 until 21 but still loved every second of it!
NYC was best run in my life at 4:18 in 2019 at 53 years old. Well done to you Ben with an incredible time and you still managed all that commentary too.
Congratulations Ben fantastic run. I did it in 2017 in the rain and you brought back some happy memories thank you and yes I remember how tough but wonderful it was.
thanks for sharing Ben, your channel has been incredible for me as a new runner. after starting just a year ago i'm sitting here now about 2 hours out from starting my first marathon and this video is everything i need to see to get me pumped up!

What a great performance, Ben! You appear to be in a much better place these days and we’re happy to see that! My partner and I both ran Chicago and New York as well this year (still needing to get a BQ qualifying time though). Good luck in Valencia!
Thanks for the video, it's so nice to relive it! I loved every minute of the experience last Sunday and actually think I preferred it to some of the flatter marathons I've run (but I'm probably weird like that!). Good luck with your training for Valencia.
I ran it in 2022 and it was a total nightmare, head and body gave up before half way but I got round , incredible support , ear splitting at times . Well done , brilliant time
Congratulations Ben, that is excellent time. 59th Street Bridge, coming out of Queens is the hardest hill climb ever!!! 🥵 This is the best marathon in the world, and what a beautiful day it was, I had so much fun. I finished 4:08.
Congratulations on a great race. It was really nice being able to talk with you on the shake out run (I am the baker from Virgina Beach). It's amazing how much time you take out of your day just to talk with everybody it must be draining. Again, congrats and best of luck in Valincia.
Ben, love how you threw in Jamil's music when you mention him inspiring you to run with the GoPro. As always, love the video. Well done with the effort in NY and best wishes for Valencia. Keep getting out done!!!
Did it in 2:57 back in 2014 - that bridge was tough. And Manhattan rolling hills were tough on the way back from Bronx. Lots of emotions and one of the greatest crowd support!
Congratulations on a great NYC marathon. I am a six star finisher (all sub-3) and ran my PR at NYC 2018 (2:42). Definitely my favorite marathon and looking forward to going back to run it again soon.
