Ed, can you please make a video on how you connected all your gears together, Most especially the preamp, compressor and interface, which should first, second and third?
Hey love the videos, could you explain how you connect your power supply to your power conditioner. How would you then connect everything connected to the power supply to the power conditioner?
Hey Ed. Great video. Studio lookin nice. I have a question. I’m about to invest in analog gear and a new desk. Which power strip are you using in your rack to power everything? And do I need anything else? Planning on getting neve 1073, and the CL1B compressor.
Nice but tough for those of us with DAW control surfaces Also it’s nice to get the midi 88 under and slid away when not in use My sit/stand motorized stand is a lovely addition to accommodate various height keyboard players and guest producers as well as tracking guitar, bass while standing But more desktop rack space is crucial so that’s a great feature on your build Mine is quite limited topside With cubes of semi essentials all about the patch bays from my younger days circa 1978 Yup 65 and still going BTW how do you like the Warm audio LA clone I’m fortunate enough to have the Teletronix La2a from ‘69 but I picked one up for $700 Still a great deal of bread as HH income was less than $20,000 a year back then Still a change from grey to silver faced after Putnam bought the company But who knew what would be the big thing in the future we all looked towards digital tech with computers just surfacing There was much to purchase very reasonably then But to the point that specific piece along with a Eventide H-3000 will remain top side
Which would you recommend out of these two: Furman Power Conditioner, Pyle Power Conditioned - or are you using both? Im confused on this bit. I would love to see a little overview of how you setup power
@@EdwardSmithMusic do you use them together like the pyle is plugged into the furman? I guess im just trying to figure out if its worth the rack space. I only have 2 4U racks
As you were measuring the mixing space, it looked like it was closer to 37” or was that just the angle of the camera? I’m curious of the exact measurements because the console I am looking it is 36.87” total.
Are the surfaces directly in front of the RU flat (stable) to set my coffee cup? As seen at 1:24 in your clip? I really like the idea of this desk, and I know it sounds like a silly question...but I don’t know how I feel about the majority of the surface area being at an angle. Anyway, I love the look of your new setup, and obviously I would use a coaster.
Where did you get the "blue channel power switches" version of your PDBC70 Pyle? Your link in the description takes me to an Amazon version with red switches. Great vid!😎
Wow...thats a nice setup bruh...i need a help from u that how to do a mini gaming and music studio pc setup...can u show how to do that plsss...and i am not a rich guy so i am doing music composing on my mobile/tablets...so....plss...i dont like ultimate and big music studio setup...cus of that im doing the composing on my phone and the gaming on the pc...not a pc...a laptop...
Any gaming laptop will be powerful enough to run all the plugins and softwares u need to make music. I would suggest you if u want to just make music and play really old or games which require less hardware power, any laptop/ultrabook with a 10th gen intel/Ryzen 5 will get u by just fine. But if u wanna play games too, I would suggest u get a decent gaming laptop with a good CPU and ample RAM to spare. A pc with a good cpu and 16 gigs of RAM will be enough for all your needs too, if looked at the right placed and waited for the right time, u can build a custom PC with a really good CPU and maybe over 16 gigs of ram for cheaper than a gaming laptop... It'll also supply your gaming needs since inbuilt graphics got so good over the past few years.
Thank you Ed. Great job. I am now where you probably were sometime back. Great job. I need to do the same thing and will, look into RAB. 2 questions. Have you included a patch bay into your studio. I’m hoping I don’t have to do that. I’m curios at what you did. Second question - that power on rack where you were able to turn on things in your studio. Good job
Unfortunately monitor mounts on console desks creates a fixed distance which means the Listening Distance (from the monitor to your ears) will be too short. This is why movable and height adjustable studio monitors on stands behind the desk is the best solution. The average Listening Distance recommendation for 6.5" studio monitors is 1.4 meters or 4'-7".
what made you go with this desk vs an output platform for about 500$ less just out of curiosity? the slanted rack mounts and just the aesthetic? I get it, I do.
Yes I like the look more, but I also want a lot more rack space, and that’s where the Output Desk is limited. Cable management wise, this desk is also just untouchable. Overall, the Output desk doesn’t come close to the desk in this video. 🙈
@@EdwardSmithMusic I get it, I have been looking at the output for months and havent pulled the trigger because I prefer the look of the kind of desk you have but didnt wanna drop 2 or 3 k on an argosy, I think I might get this desk you have, or I think theres a 42 thats a little longer? Did those rack panels come with the desk?
Problem is that you might be sitting too close to the speakers. Even for fairly small speakers, the distance required for the bass and treble elements to "sum up" is usually around 1.5 meters. So, when having the speakers on the desk, there's a big chance you're too close to them for them to do their job the way they should. Those look like potentially 8" speakers, which means the summing distance is probably more than 1.5 meters, even. Also, it may be that you're not forming an equilateral triangle, between you and the speakers. That means your stereo image will be unnaturally wide. These things are not much of a problem for music production, but it won't fly for mixing, and definitely not for mastering.

Love the switch panel for turning on/off all gear, lights and all.
Nice studiodesk. Dilemma atm... RAB 36 or Studiodesk Commander V2 😱🤔
very cool......i want one,
Dope I’m dawless so no pc for me but looks sick
Looks smart but I'd like to know why your interested in Rack gear? Is it all to do with the sound?
nice hs monitors, have the hs7s

Do you have any suggestions for a starter desk setup? Can range from $100-$500 and must be able to fit a 61 key midi keyboard.

Another nice one but it doesn't seem I can fit two 27" monitors which is a must for me, so another fail unfortunately overall.
