I have a 2002 dodge ram 1500 4X4 full size cab, it was medium grey, i did the bodywork and painted it black myself here at home, i painted everything, chrome bumpers, grill, emblems, handles, even my chrome rims. I wanted it to look like the new ones and it turned out great
Looks good man, yal make sure to use a 2 part clear coat for the final coat for durability, or a 2 part satin/matte paint for the final coat! I've tried the expensive 1 part rattle can and it just doesn't hold up to the heat, weather, and washes and it will look bad in 1 to 2 years 👌
Important note: THIS is a 2 part primer! It's on the bottom where he showed you , if you go to auto store they will not have this and only 1 part epoxy - this 1 part will not work, try to get 2 part everything whenever your painting your car
This may sound like a stupid question but you mentioned what parts of a vehicle not to do this on and I am about to tear into a project bike. I want all of the chrome parts blacked out so id like to know whether you suggest this process for a bike as well? Great video! Thanks!
U got a plastic video? I’ve painted plastic with high build sanded smooth and painted. Seen some use bully dog adhesion promoter. Want to do my 11 Silverado front. Just wandering. In Florida we got hella bugs don’t want it coming off! I’ll spray a few extra coats of clear to play it safe eitherway
On 07-13 silverados they have a small bumper w a plastic piece under and then the valance it’s raw plastic. Last time used high build to get texture out of plastic. Diff vehicle. Ima do the same this time but use bully dog
Just as a precautiion, I personally would wear a respirator while sanding chrome. The process to produce chrome plating is especially toxic. Creating dust and breathing it, as well as absorbing it into your bloodstream can have lasting effects.
on chrome plated plastic you can use aerosol oven cleaner to remove the chrome. Then paint the plastic.
Will it not melt the plastic underneath ?
@@leonidprokopovych3289
I’ve never had it melt the plastic.
But you don’t leave it on a long time only long enough to get the chrome off.
@@krukabman I’ll try it out have a grille I need to paint appreciate the help

Try an inconspicuous place first.
Does the brand matter?
Doing this on my 2013 ram 2500 thank you! I got the rough country black mesh grill insert and want the chrome outside to be black as well
Great video! Thanks for doing it. I will be doing something similar for my 2013 Ram 3500 except I will be painting my grille matte black.

Thanks! want to black out my chrome pipes on my Indian! This will be a fun project now that I have some knowledge of what I am doing!
I already have my bumpers. They are new but then decided I want them black. How would you do them?

Thought Eastwood says not to use etching primer with it?
What orbital sander and pads are u using?
GREAT VIDEO !
Would this work for the rims on drums? I want to paint mine black as I have a white kit to create a contrast, would this technique work for that?
Thanks for the instructions
Thank you. Im going to be doing that to a 07 ram grill that's bubbling.

Will this work on old school chrome from the 70s
Is it good for car trim? Black out the chrome this way?

What specifically on the bike? If it wrappable. Wrap it.
thanks man!

what grit sand paper? and is it okay to hand sand it since I don’t have access to a palm sander?
80 or 100. And yea hand sanding is fine it’s just gonna take longer.
Thank you
Pretty sure I can use this method on my Harley chrome pipes. I want to black it out. Thanks for the info brother.
How did it turn out? I was thinking heat resistant stove paint would be best.
What grit sandpaper did you use?

I think he should park his vehicle closer😅
Yes, let's our dirty fingers all over the freshly primed parts
This is not chrome. This is paint.

You can only chrome plate metal. It's also called electroplating. That can't be done with plastic.
What happened with your face mask lmao you gonna cough up a lung
Put it on so late i was like man I hope he didn’t already forget his own words 😂
