- Painting your chrome trims in order to do a chrome delete is great, but if not prepared right, it can lead to peeling and flaking. Here's a quick video explaining why that happens and how you can better understand the process to make sure you and your painter know exactly what you're looking for.

Yeah realized they used a foil like shrink film on my “chrome”air cover 1999 Honda vt750 it shattered apart and left a really hairy audace on the underlying plastic because it was mostly fiberglass fill because 90’s i guess.
Will scuffing it and useing primer then paint work?
I just got my plastic chrome trims on the bumper painted black at a bodyshop and not even 2 weeks after the stone chips are already exposing the chrome beneath. The chrome is still shiny so I don't think it was sanded. Feels like a waste

Black etch primer is key. It should bight into the chrome well. Then black primer and then paint

@goodintentions8714 if you can remove the chrome then do so and primer and paint otherwise etch primer first.

I seen a video using cleaner as a stripper on chrome, wouldn't it be better to strip the chrome off and then sand and paint?
Yeah you're suppose to strip it and scuff it for painting.

They have to have clear coat if they're painting it
How can i remove the paint on a chrome delete that started flaking/chipoing off
If it’s chipping bad you may be Able to power wash it off. If not probably have to sand it all off
Okay, so if this is happening, how do you fix it?

Between vinyl and hydro dip, which do you recommend for chrome delete?
Never done hydro dipping, so can't comment on that
