Fantastic. I started making my own clothes a year ago as I was fed up with the cheap polyester around. Now I make mostly cotton dress and tops, and I'm only just starting to introduce my own features to shop-bought patterns. This has given me some good ideas.
Love when you give your opinions with examples!!
I really like this video, drawing over fashion pages and explaining at the same time.
Also it is worth noting that princess line dresses are made by stitching panels that are long . It does not have separate bodice in skirt .. in my humble opinion it looks better than ones with sewn on skirt . It looks more effortless and smooth .
I love your fashion taste. You never stop being amazing 😄🦄
+†Aurora† thaaaanks!

Hello Justine!! I LOVE your videos and really enjoy your common-sense commentary on fashion. Since this is a video about dresses, what are your thoughts on petticoats, also known as slips or chemises? My mother's generation swore that you absolutely needed a slip under a dress, no matter what. I have three of my own in white, black and beige, and they do make your dress hang so much nicer than without. Plus, if your dress is unlined, as so many fast-fashion pieces are, you need that extra coverage. In general, I think the undergarment aspect of fashion is so important and neglected. And in New England where I live you need another layer of warmth!! Cheers!!
I'm not Justine, but I wanted to comment. I grew up using slips (as we called them) mostly to prevent the see-through issue. Usually half slips, but a full or with a slip-like camisole if the top was thin. I didn't wear dresses much as a child, but I discovered that they do help add a bit of warmth. I know so many people who will not wear them, and I think it's strange. I use a cotton slip with a nice summer dress on hot days, because it breathes much better than a polyester one. Jean skirts, being cotton, breathe well and are not see through, so I usually don't wear slips under them unless it's cold. Even one of my nice lined skirts needs a slip; it's just too pale and the lining is thin.
Lisa R.and P.Martin: I used to wear them as a child in western NY. But when we moved to Phoenix, and as the styles changed, we did away with slips and those kinds of undergarments. Even hosiery, unless in the 3 months of winter we get and they are dark colored or patterned, I don't wear them. I can see how a nice silky slip would make a dress or skirt drape nicely IF you're not sweating, though.
@@AbidingHopeMentalHealthCoach cotton slips? Where do you buy them?
Jennifer S I don’t know. My mom bought me one. But they are out there.

love this video! do you have any problem with sketching at the first when you just entered fashion school?
+Irene Lucas sure :-) Apart from a few people, everybody needs to practice a lot, at the beginning... 😉
Its pretty good! Is this a tracing paper that you are using?
+shivangi garg yes, that's right.
thanks love this video where did you get the pictures used from
I cut them out of magazines. All of them are printed ads :-)
💗👍
What kind of paper do you use?
we should wear more dresses !!!! 💗💓💓 I hate when people react - like you wear a dress, you try too hard or something. Like anything else- not too open, not too tight , not shirt-dress, not sweater-dresses 🤦♀️ and I've watched minimalist video (capsule wardrobe) sometimes the dress can be worth additional expense. Also, you can style them differently- with high heels either ankle boots , clutch or big handbag, accessories also HAIRSTYLE changes the look (wavy hair, ponytail, loose braids) !!!! ..... We should NOT wear man's clothes. We should be smart enough not to compete with them, but be who we are 🌸🌸🌸
Who kne this much went into fashion. Ignorance isn't a bliss at all, it's a curse. A'ight, let's see what else you got.
And this is really less than 1% of what goes into fashion design and less than 0.1% what goes into fashion industry.
What about the "cocoon" dress?
You said in another video, you wouldn't want to wear that tee again and also althoug you look really nice you seem to have some eyerings - were you tired? Was sth going on that week?
+Thingys Happening I was moving into a new flat, that week. Funny you noticed.
What is silhouette??
