Just as I thought. I learned that even a bad injector will pass a buzz test. My forscan never picked up the bad injector. Took it over to a mechanic with a more expensive scanner. High low open on one injector. After ruling out wiring, I was surprised as you were that it was a bad brand new rebuilt injector. Good job👍
Good logical reasoning for the injectors awful thing about these trucks cranking away hoping it will start knowing something just isn’t right. Nothing more satisfying than vrrroom! At the end.
I did see some oil pressure in the rails, but not enough, which is why I suspected a faulty "new" injector. Should see about 700psi or so while cranking. I was seeing around 100 or so.
Torque app pro here I come! That 7.3 would run over my excursion right now! Looks like that truck needs a steering box but excellent video figuring out what it was!
Yep, 3k on a good pump is common, though I've never actually witnessed a pump go over about 1k during starting. My guess is that the starter can't turn fast enough to generate any more pressure out of the pump.
eh, things happen. It could have been something stuck under there when they shipped, or it could have been a contaminant from our oil, main thing is they made it right, and quickly. No harm, no foul.

I bought a set of rebuilt stock injectors from Full Force several years ago. The truck ran pretty good after install but it had a new very annoying CACK-CACK-CACK noise. I drove it like that for a couple years. It's my daily driver and work truck so I can't just let it sit while I resolve the problem, and I don't live anywhere close to Full Force. I put a set of brand new alliant injectors in and the truck ran perfect and sounded as it should. I just ate the $1,300 or so I spent on the Full Force rebuilds.
Once you pull those glow plugs if leaving the injectors in I would roll the motor over by hand at the harmonic balancer instead of cranking it over to blow out the cylinders. You could damage your connecting rods.
Several OBD2 Readers will show the pressures on the HPOP. I have a video covering setup of some cheap ways of doing it. Basically, you want to see good pressure (like 3000psi or so) under hard acceleration. Usually a bad HPOP will build good pressure then immediately lose it.
@@ProjectTimeGarage i bought a truck recently and the guy i bought it from said the truck had 3 bad injectors, he replaced all 8 injectors and now the car doesn't start. Im assuming a bad install? Yes it sure could. In this case, we had a very nice running truck with 3000psi of high pressure oil prior to doing the injectors. Thankfully the replacement injector fixed it up. It's had about 2000 miles and it's holding strong (for now).
@@ProjectTimeGarage what I was getting at is if tolerances are off on low pressure pump it will still build full pressure just takes longer to get there, onces it's there it will hold it. So the hpop will work as it should regardless once low pressure builds to proper pressure. Hpop has to have pressure from low pressure pump before it can begin to build
So im really hoping this isn't my problem. Mine started ok. But after i got most of the air out of the system, something still not right. Starts right up. But it has white smoke and a light miss. From my experiences, white smoke, misses, etc can remain for quite a while after an Injector replacement. But, it's very possible one of the injectors has an issue.
