minori is absolutely an icon. her image has been instantly recognizable to me for years, so she's certainly made an impact!
I just realized that some of my looks do incorporate Shirunori. I am African American so it gets judged and looked down upon because people believe that I am “trying to be white” but it is just another form of makeup and art for me.
With jfashion, people tend to spend wayy too much time trying to figure out why you’re doing something, when it’s almost never that deep
I can see why I'm Asian and in my country people wear lighter foundation (and I mean 10 times lighter) than their own colour to imitate having a lighter skin tone now this is due to colourism, regardless people shouldn't be able to judge your way of makeup without knowing it's true meaning 🤷🏾
I've really been wanting to try out shironuri, but as a black person, I'm worried about how people will react
i just had an idea, you could create your own shironuri style but with black ink and white ink only for details, i think that could help a lot and be original at the same time
I want to wear shironuri, and once I get the chance I will do it, but I just reallllllly don't want to get harassed for that. especially because I squint and close my eyes halfway alot, they might think I'm asian fishing, too
Minori definitely left a huge impact on the japanese street fashion scene, I even remember that as a teen I thought the Shironuri style was called Minori, because you just saw that name coming up on so many images/photos associated with the style that I was like "Oh that must be the name of this fashion style!" it just shows how iconic she has been for that scene
I am so excited for this video, I love their style so much. I follow Minori and I just love seeing all of their different outfits even though we do not have the same style, I dress in more colorful and vibrant attire. I even did a look inspired by one of theirs!!!
Ooh, Shironuri is pretty and seeing the style actually inspires me to draw something based off of it.
Minori has definitely created a very lasting impact on me, when i was really young her makeup was really inspirational to me and i still talk about it with friends who have also been influenced by her fashion today, i hope shes able to get a gallery space to show her work!!

I'm an "old fart" goth, in my mid 40, and most of the time when I went to festivals and parties, I wore white make-up - it's sort of a goth sub-style as well that often goes together with huge gowns, tons of frills and lace and hoop skirts, so in some way, the styling principle is similar to Shironuri: you cover up everything that's not painted in make-up.
As friends of mine got deeper into japanese fashion, I came across Minori and was fascinated as well, since what she did was like a new take on the white face thing - at least from my point of view.
Super interesting interview - I also realised that, in our goth culture, the white make up has become rare, but on the other hand, the pandemic made it impossible to go out and visit festivals, of course. But - despite my age, I think I will not stop doing the whole white faced goth thing for as long as my skin allows me to do it :D

Bazookistan created the "Ishoku Hada" Gyaru style on accident around 2011 by using Gyaru features on shironuri paint. She appeared on TV showing this style as "Neo Manba", although there is no video recording of the episode there are pictures and I saved them on my Bazookistan pinterest board in any case anyone wants to look at that. This was before she joined Takuya Angel as a model.
Oh my gosh I never knew that! I would always just see articles back in like 2016 ish about Miyako Akane when she did those Ishoku Hada photo shoots with her friends but I never knew the origin of the style! I just watched Rock M. Sakura's video on this makeup and it unlocked huge core memory. When i was around 12-13 and got first connection with internet through my first phone i always watch lolita and other japanese fashion and makeup video on UA-cam. I remember really being obsessed Minori I watched every single video of her i can find . I really loved chanels like Tokyo fashion and kawaii pattern. Looking back i watched lots of goths, lolitas, shironuris, decoras and many more. Wow I'm now glad that i witnessed these in such a young age I think it's develop my fashion sense
I was also a fan of those UA-cam channels, there's where I first saw Minori ❤

brah i loved her style and shironuri but idk why seeing her made me remember the fear i had about human with heavy makeup, when i was a child i used to get scared the shit out when i saw a drag queen or a woman with theatrical makeup
