Henry doesn't buy the mythology of rock. He enjoys rock, but doesn't turn it into something "special". In his bands, he rocked and tore the sh*t up in concert and didn't need a legacy in the "rock hall of fame". He simply rocked while he was young and left the door open for you to step in and do it yourself.

This is the nicest ive seen henry, he's being entirely sincere and holds passion behind his answer rather than saying what people want to hear which is why i admire the man, he's a real dude and real about what his music projects and has great charisma as you should be being an iconic vocalist

I know that people love to hate Henry, but I just love to love Henry. I emailed him once when I was withdrawing from drugs, kinda manic, and he actually responded. It was a short, throw away response...not much, you could tell he wasnt feeling my email too much, but he thanked me for taking the time to write him and it meant the world to me then.

@@godloveszazawhat? He expresses his opinions, and is generally more gratious than most to opposing views. That said, I just want to be clear that I never asked "why do people hate Henry Rollins?"
I said that people love to hate him, I never asked why. I just dont care.
Btw, I am the OP, but this is my main account.

10:50: on Bruce Springsteen, Born In The USA is much more a critique of the government and society at the time than nationalism. Maybe a bit of both, maybe a celebration of the working man, average working class american, but mostly it's about the mistreatment of Vietnam veterans... I think young Rollins was just judring off the chorus and the mainstream appeal and commercial success... Like so often, Bruce is good (when he's good) but overrated but that doesn't take away from the music that it's overrated.

    • @ViduwanPaduwan

Big fan of Henry and Black Flag and never got into Bruce Springsteen, however, Henrry was way off the mark when he suggest that Springsteen and his music was all about patriotism and nationalism. Born in the the U.S.A. was more of an indictment of the country in it's involvement of the Vietnam War and how the veterans were victims themselves. All that aside, I'm more inspired by the song, Rise Above than Born in the U.S.A.!

Although I think Springsteen is a garbage human being he is a very talented musician and songwriter. Why is it that some musicians automatically claim anyone that has ever sought an ounce of commercial success or financial gain has proven they have no talent by doing so? The whole starving, artist suffering for their art, schtick is an absurd joke. Music is subjective. Conversely not every unknown band is great either. Most of them suck in fact.
