DETROIT DIESEL: “Mad Max” Rat Rod V12 Diesel 1948 COE Dump Truck With Hidden Motorcycle | EP24
Вставка
- Опубліковано 6 чер 2023
- Why? Because every mid-engine rat rod 1948 Ford COE dump truck needs a tiny Honda Trail 90 rat bike in its former engine compartment, shrouded by a gym locker. With makeshift construction and a distinct aura of oil, the 4,000-pound Series 71 Detroit Diesel 12V71 two-stroke engine with twin 671 blowers powers its manually-shifted Turbo 400 transmission with a double roller chain and produces over 1,000 foot-pounds of torque and 425 horsepower. Nicole gives it a fresh oil change, then climbs under the gull-wing doors and into the wheelbarrow-bucket seats of Scotty Ray's "Mad Max" apocalypse-surviving, Rat Fink-inspired truck, cruising around the city streets and desert of Las Vegas.
MORE ABOUT SCOTTY RAY:
A native to Las Vegas, Scotty Ray is a diesel mechanic at Micon Construction, owned by his brother, Mike Ray. Scotty Ray is active in the local rat rod community and Model A club, and frequents car shows with his rat truck known as the "Detroit Destroyer."

I love you for keeping the content cool and classy. There are too many beautiful young ladies pushing primarily T/A with a side of 💩 content. Your content is AMAZING w/out the distraction. As a father of a 16 year old daughter you give me hope. THANK YOU 🙏🏼
Wow, thank you! That means a lot to me!!
Thanks for pointing this out.
Got to admit the period correct attire adds to the content, but the meat and potatoes is the attention to detail on showcasing the vehicles.

Awesome truck
This guy truly belongs on movie sets where his talent and innovation can be immortalized on the big screen!
We appreciate the comment!! Thanks for watching!

Reengineered from repurposed materials with a level of craftsmanship. Just from this video his knowledge and talent naturally surfaced and any true tinkerer will admire.
Thank you sir, in my life I met some of the greatest. They had every combination of head cam displacement even referenced rod and piston diameter at the fly and after a case of beer. My pops owned a wrecker and as a kid I fell in love with the energy. Approaching 74 still operates his Pete 40 piggyback house grass pool and his coveted 53 Willys he’s owned my entire 45 years. Back in the 80’s there was no support do he cropped a chief frame 390 4spd with the Dana 44’s. Heck it’s still his daily with a 2000 Bravada 4.3 and a Getrag 5 spd we swapped two decades back in her. 🫡
That old Detroit isn't leaking oil, it's marking its territory.
It sure did!! Thanks for watching!!
Its Detroit slobber 🤤

Half engineer, half mechanic, half sculptor. He's a Mad Scientist-and-a-half! Love you, brother...freaking awesome awesome telling of the story of your Rat Rod -- and you.
We're so glad you enjoyed watching!! Thank you!
I agree he is a mad scientist style dude..
this is the guy you seek in a zombie apocalypse. we need to re-direct this dude to work on the cure for cancer.
Sem dúvida a mulher mais fera em máquinas que já vi ! Parabéns pela bravura ! Saudações do Brasil !
I love it when people express themselves through their vehicles. That beast is a true work of art. Well done! This channel is a gem!
We're so glad you enjoyed watching!! We appreciate it!!
Now that is a rat rod, lol....
I spy a very mischievous 11 year old girl with the keys to the castle! That was AWESOME!
Haha..you might be on to something!! Glad you enjoyed watching!!
I love this guy. Makes Macgyver look like an amateur.
Thank you so much for watching!
Yes, he does.
“Why have 6 when you can have 12”!!!! What an artiste’. It’s amazing to see what people create with discarded stuff… what an incredible contrast from the last episode!!
Haha..for sure!! Thanks for watching Dave!!
You’re an inspiration…, I need to start putting my 68 C10 together, but first I’m going to have to take it apart😅
It's amazing how he put small things from his childhood here and there on the truck. It's a really nice build.
We agree!! Thanks so much for watching!!
He built a story of his life.
Nicole, you always put a smile on everyone's face, that's a gift!
Thank you..I appreciate that!! We really appreciate you watching!!
Yes, Nicole is sooo adorable.
It's because when beauty meets gears we are faced with an enigma and a dream of....most men...someone who knows more about cars than they do while she stays a woman and you a man. Iknow I sound misogynist. I'm just saying much respect to a woman who has can stand in side by side were men were to insecure to let her stand....come on...throw it!
Gosh...aaaaabsolutely in love...(with the truck too)! Thoroughly enjoy the videos, the interest, and the fellow kid at heart! Great job. Keep them coming!

I'm lucky enough to have known Scotty for MANY years! He is absolutely the BEST!!! So smart and so creative! Love this man!❤
How nice!! Thank you for sharing with us!! I loved doing this episode with Scotty!!
He is great.
((::))
That’s great, found few in my life to inspire. I’d love to shake his hand and engage in conversation with him about anything he’s passionate about.
I love it, how Nicole gets "as gitty as a school girl" when she moves that throttle and drives those different machines.
Haha!! It's my happy place!!! Thank you for watching!!
That reaction just had me rolling! So good.
The Detroit Destroyer is like fists of fury rolling on the tarmac.
Savagely Awesome Rat Rod !!
Thank you Scotty and Nicole 👊🏻
We're so glad you like it!! Thank you for watching!
I will always have a love for Buzzin Dozens. I was first addicted to them when my Grandfather owned a few Detroit powered dump trucks. The sound is just pure anti-depressant for me.
Thank you for sharing with us!!
who needs pharmaceutical grade Amphetamine when you can get a screamin' Jimmy or 3?
1) This rod needs to be re-named "Tetanus Shot".
2) I think Nicole should have reconsidered when to wear a helmet in this episode. It was not the BIKE that was the threat!
3) Driving this thing appears to be about as difficult as piloting the Space Shuttle.
Haha!! Love it!!
This is most certainly one of thé most inspirational and amazing clips ÉVER on UA-cam…it should both be shared and recognized far and wide for its creative ingenuity and unusual combination of ‘weirdnesses’ éver imaginable.
Touché once again : simply fantastic and mind boggelling all the way into total madness.
Both the Magician and the Presenting Lady deserve Oscars or Idols recognition.

@@kobusdutoitbosman6240 I doubt Elon Musk could use this guys help building a Rocket. BUT - If I'm in that Rocket floating around in Space, this IS the dude I'd want around when something went wrong.
Building this truck was a labor of love. Nicole saw that. Thanks Nicole, I love the video.
Yes it was! Glad you enjoyed watching!!
I'm just astounded at the builders you find! What an inspiration for creativity, recyclability, and plain ol' get 'er done determination. And the automotive Americana... SO COOL!

The song the Detroit's sing is the sweetest sounding oil burner. I love it.
Thank you for the comment! Glad you enjoyed watching!
Turning perfectly good diesel fuel into smoke and noise for 90 years.
They said I was crazy for building 77 Celica, 20r with a B&M blower, 390 cfm Holley 4 bbl, and a nitrous fogger blowing directly at the rotors on the carb side. Air conditioning was nice. In 5th gear (overdrive) it was scarry fast.
This dude took it to a whole different level.
Glad you enjoyed it!!
I am not at all a truck guy , but that is THE coolest rat truck EVER !!!!!
Yes it is!! Thank you for watching!!
I can’t believe I’m seeing this! I just saw this thing a few days ago parked in front of a house I was working close to, snapped a pic and posted it on Facebook!

I was planning to move to Vegas, build Rat Rods, and invite Nicole to drive,.....then THIS guy comes along!!!
Haha!! You snooze you lose!!!
I just realized I've been grinning like an idiot since the start of this video! Once again - Nicole comes through with an amazing drive!
Oh..how nice of you!! We're so glad you enjoyed watching!!

I used to run one of those old Detroit V12's with no mufflers.
Woke the whole neighborhood up in the morning.

Let’s see here; you take 12 each 4” diameter exhaust pipes, total that up, and you got a guy who built collectively a monster with an exhaust opening about the size of a man-hole cover. Outstanding.

"Got a helmet?" - such a cool response
Truck is straight out of the future dystopia. Monster..!!
Yes it is!! Glad you enjoyed watching!!
I still got all those old Detroit diesel specialty tools for those motors ! When I first got in the heavy truck industry , those motors were still in production & I worked at a GMC heavy truck dealership when there still was such a thing !!!
Some Brockway CONVENTIONAL CAB TRUCKS were built with those 12V-71's from the factory ! that was a lot of motor back then , they were fairly simple , but a hell of a lot of moving parts in the accessory drives and valve train ( AND THEY LACKED INTAKE VALVES ALL TOGETHER / USING THE BLOWERS FOR THAT PROCESS ) WHAT A BLAST FROM THE PAST !!!!!
Love it!!! Thank you so much for sharing with us!!
You're very knowledgeable, awesome truck awesome channel! It's great to see women out there loving the industry just as much as men.
