Love the screamin jimmy grew up hearing these 6-71 Detroits all the time
They sure make an amazing sound, don’t they??? Always wanted one, finally found one affordable.
Please please keep that old rig alive as is it a collector
You got it, will do! I’m really happy to have it!
There is no sound that can compare to an old 2 cycle Detroit, and there never will be.
I agree with that 100%!!!!
Amen😊

Brake cleaner does a good job on those hornets too. Just give ‘em the sauce. 🤣
I like it! I’ll use that next time if I have some on hand:)
I drove a 8v 71 as a young man, she would have come on song if you were to wind her up to about 2500 rpm, then you would hear a screaming jimmy!
Have you ever seen a Detroit nightlight? When you are pulling hard at night you can see the glow from the red hot stack and the fire coming out the top.
Wow! I’d love to own an 8v71, for sure! I haven’t seen the night light yet, but maybe I can try it with this one? Thanks for sharing that story! Have a great day, friend!
@@GrubNGasyou’re gonna need some big injectors to get a flame from the stack and I’d highly recommend a pyrometer if you go that route. N90’s should do it….that and setting the no-load to 2400 or so will get you north of 250hp but you’ll have to watch your EGT’s and be real mindful about not going WOT under 1800 rpm for more than a few seconds.
@@J.R.in_WV sounds like I have a lot to learn…
Was the actual first start in the vid the first start in years :O :O :O
If so congrats MINT 6-71 !!!!
Thanks so much, friend! The first start was probably the first in a little over a year or two. But a mint 6-71 nonetheless!
@@GrubNGas Absolutely Mint it is :)
It wont be the fastest buuut it's gonna be working reliable.
One tiny word of advice, when idling for longer times... bump up the rpm for the oilpressure ;) (call it 800 - 950rpm or abit higher)
@@AllianceB95 right on! Yeah, it won’t win any races, lol!!!
I used to drive an old dump truck with one of those in it.. but it had a turbo feeding the supercharger.. n man did that thing scream going down the road.. had a 7 speed transmission
That’s what’s up! I’d really like to get the turbo version one day…it’s a sound like no other truck since has been able to top!
Very nice, great video. Love watching old machines get another chance. I also watch Diesel Creek.
Thanks so much, friend! And yes, I’m a HUGE fan of Diesel Creek! Inspiring!
If I'm gonna get if I'm gonna get abstract, I mean I'm hanging to I would go and get me a Cummins out of a out of an out of an old Ford something from the 90s and dropping at and keep that Jimmy and either make it home make it put a flat bin on it or a stake body or set it up. Put a nice new s eval's. Put a nice new frame on there and give it setup for Holland Paul and tractors. And stuff make it get ready 24 somebody's as a bad dude
Appreciate the feedback, friend! I’m seriously thinking of keeping the truck intact and just fixing everything and putting a flatbed on it. Maybe put a Cummins in the 1955 Ford.
Very cool 😎
Appreciate that, friend!!!👊🏼
All the Detroit 2 strokes were supercharged later they were both supercharged and turbocharged
I’m learning…I’d really like to have the turbocharged version one day!
@GrubNGas yea man there's no sound like a Detroit I want a F model Mack with a 12v71 or 12v92 Detroit bad to the bone
@@mikemazz3377 for sure! Those are beasts!
Very cool....my vote is to put the 2 stroke detroit 671 into the 55 Ford, truck...way cool...
Thanks so much, friend!!! I like that idea too!!!
With the old Detroit, if you plan on driving that much, you have to learn how to slam your hand in the door and drive it like you’re mad at the world
🤣🤣🤣 Right on!!!
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣👍
@@BushmansAdventures 🤣🤣🤣
I was wondering when someone was going to post this comment.
Not true at all anyway.
What a bunch of stupidity!
They all have superchargers, it won't run without one.
I found that out…I was late to the game on Detroit…glad to be in it now:)
Blower👍
@@damienodonohue1327 its the same thing😂 It just does a different job on these motors. Don't be a smart ass.
@hom._. uh, not being a smart arse, if you read your Detroit workshop manuals they will tell you the same information, they do the same thing on an L90, Fld6, TS3 and the UD 2stroke motors😄
@@damienodonohue1327 terminology doesn't mean jack shit in a youtube comment. Stop being that guy.
You’ll have to start saying “blower” instead of “supercharger” or you’re gonna start getting a lot of b*tchy hater comments lol. It’s a shame but that’s the UA-cam we live in today.
I did not know that…thanks for the heads up. I’ll be sure to remember that in update videos.
screw those morons!
supercharger is just as correct.
Restore them both to original.
I really like that idea…it would be cool to have both running and driving!
That truck was not driven hard and put away wet this guy is not a clue unless he is lying or doesn't have a clue about trucks
I most likely don’t have a clue…more to learn:)
