- Before any additional modifications we took the MX5 to Autotronix near Sheffield for a baseline dyno run and health check.
Current Spec:
2.0 NC1
Racing Beat exhaust manifold
Top Gear Performance exhaust system
NO MAPPING
Average 172.3bhp 154lbft at flywheel
Standard 2.0 cars make on average 154bhp on this dyno
+18bhp from some good old bolt ons! 😎
Always sounds like the car will explode when on the dyno.
So long as it just sounds that way!! 😅
My bbr supa 2 did 203bhp from memory . Great colour Matt didn't realise you have mk3 now . 200 is a sweet spot forbthese imo . Itbs make 220 but are no more faster in a straight line to normal supa 200.
Oh yes, joined the mk3 club!! I do have a serious ITB addiction though, and it only needs to be as quick as a Cayman S anyhow… 😅
Hi there guys , has anyone done a video fitting the BBR 200 kit , I have a kit sitting in the box but any mechanic I try is afraid to fit .
Nice gains, doubt I'll get that on the MK1 NA6CE mani when I finally get round to it 😂. Planning on moving back to Sheffield at somepoint this/next year all being well, didn't know about autotronix so good to know they are decent. 1102kg i my guess 👀. I have the same headunit in the scoob, missed the last vid but yeah that rainbow mode is bloody awful! 😂
Hahaa yeah it was so annoying in the dark!! Unfortunately I didn’t see such good gains on a NA6 from a mani, closer to 5bhp. I did see a nice improvement with an ECU and map though…
Then I went mad and got carried away with mods! 😅
Love your work mate excellent videos, I have an MX5 MK 1 turbo (temporarily out of action engine build) so I am looking to continue my sprint season that I had already booked for this year. I am looking to get a MK 3 for temporary use for sprints and hill climbs until the MK1 is back at the end of May. Would it be possible to talk to you before I go and buy a MK 3 ??? Can I look you up on Facebook to connect then exchange numbers, really appreciate a quick chat. Cheers Lee
Hey Lee, sure thing mate, Matt Scarbro on FB. 🙌
hey guys, didn't you have BBR 225 ITBs on your NC? How were they?
Will had some AT Power ITBs on his NC along with a ME ECU, it proved difficult to get right and the car was sold before it was working properly. 👍
1125kg is my guess
😩😩😂 I hope it’s less!! 🤞
Clive at autronix is a top bloke, he has mapped my mk3 and Paul is a legend in the Mazda world. Car looking good!
I’m trying to decide between a 4-2-1 and a 4-1 manifold to replace my eBay 4-1, got 181.4 from the eBay manifold
That’s a great result, she sounds strong! Which manifolds are on the wish list?
@@CIRCUITDRIVERCARS IL motorsport, BBR, maybe a Racing beat
@@dss199 don’t think you can go wrong with any of them! Interesting to see if it makes much more power than the current one…
Any thoughts of cams?
@@CIRCUITDRIVERCARS don’t get me started on cams, supercharger or ITB’s routes
@@CIRCUITDRIVERCARS I can’t decide where to go in the long run
Great video, i'm Remy from the Mx5 FB page. And your right, the engine is very good and easy to tune. Maybe take a look on my channel also if you like racing :) Also got a tuned 2.0 with the header and the BBR180 package. I also came from the NA to the NC 1 I Love it, il sub :)
Hey Remy, a man after my own heart, I’ll check out the channel! 🙌🙌
Great video . What’s the mileage on the car . I just picked up one with 170k miles .
Wow that’s awesome and testament to Mazda! Ours is at 109k, here’s to many many thousand more miles for both cars! 🙌
Where's the video showing the weight of the car ?
Anywhere but at the back wheel is castles in the sky.
Did the RB headers move the torque lower or higher?
1136kg
Noooo!! Hopefully lighter!! 😅😅
1086kg, great video 👍🏻 my kind of car, understated. Can't wait to see what you get up to with it
Cheers Chris! I’d take 1086!!
Excellent video, car looks great, goes well, you just need to get it on track again and enjoy 😉 🏁
Couldn’t agree more mate, I think the first outing will be 20th March for a Blyton. Few more little bits to do beforehand, but she’s about ready now. 🙌
Awesome stuff! I tried to get a hold of you on the babybmw forum and wanted to get your take on some 140i mods I’ve got planned :D
Drop me a message on FB if you use it mate… Matt Scarbro
@@CIRCUITDRIVERCARS I don't, but I can. Will drop you a message shortly. Thanks!
@@petrolsunny I’ll log in on BBMW… save you messing about. 👍
Did you say the engine is a 2.0L duratec engine? Like the fiesta st?
Yes they're the same engine, the 2.5 also fits in it
@@smitbe1 Nice to know, cheers
I do like that blue livery
Winning Blue by name and nature! 🙌
NIce driving!
Cheers! Hopefully lots more where that came from!! Can’t wait to get back to the track!
1075kg
Yes my man! I’ll take that! 🤞
Great video. It's a drag weighing up manifold options but your numbers inspire me! Getting 172 at the engine and 154 lb ft is great! Cheers!
A smaller diameter steering wheel (not the type that are dished heavily; they are awful if you have an accident) 4.1 diff, 6 speed box, and lightweight flywheel together with good engine mounts makes a world of difference to these.
You’re a mind reader, I think we have all of those things on the to do list!! Any recommendations on the engine mounts as I’ve not looked into them yet?
I look forward to seeing this develop. My car is pretty much the same spec as yours, even down to the colour! I had mine tuned at Autotronix and it made 184bhp with a ecutek remap, K&N filter, IL Motorsport exhaust manifold (not header!) and a Cobalt back box. I also had it corner weighted at Roddisons and it weighed in at 1109kg. Ps, I have the K&N filter for sale if your interested. It has less than 1000 miles use on it as I've now upgraded to ITBs. I'm in Lincoln so don't think I'm far away from you?
Oh wow! We need to talk if you’re in Lincoln!
Great to hear where the next steps take us…
1109kg… noooo! I was hoping sub-1100kg, something tells me I’m going to be disappointed!
If you use FB I’ll send you a request, I’d love to take a ride out in yours!
184 sounds like you got a great result! I'm in Australia and keen to copy, which ILM manifold did you use if not the headers?
