Top notch work. You might find work done like this in the 1920s. They were craftsmen that actually took it to this level. I commend you in demonstrating true quality. I can’t believe you didn’t have a laborer pulley brick and mortar up to you. How did you get materials up? In the past, I’ve had a weighted swing pulley to where I could hoist a bucket of mortar and a bucket of bricks to the top stage, and then I could carry I tong of bricks up a ladder.
When you leave the stupid guys at home and the smart guys disappear because it's 10 degrees outside, you wind up working by yourself. The kids at home probably don't have any idea what it takes make a living working construction in NE the wintertime.
It takes a crew of guys with moderate intelligence to get anything done this time of year. 😆 To be fair, most people have no idea what it takes to work outside in the winter. To get out of bed and go to work when you know it's frigid outside.
Your work is always perfection. I am surprised that she had you build a wood burning fire place and then convert it to gas burning. Maybe she is only putting in a gas log set - not the insert. If she would have had a gas insert - the entire build could have been totally different - just a stainless flue and probably not a brick fire box since the insert usually is the fire box. They could have coordinated the gas line with you when laying the brick for the fire box, then there wouldn't be a big hole cored in the corner. I put a gas log set in my wood burning fireplace - cause hauling in wood was becoming a pain. My log set is really nice looking and always fools people - they think it is actual wood burning. There are companies out there that put out crappy looking sets and then there are a few that put out really nice ones. What is nice is that it can go back to log burning at anytime. My neighbor has a gas pipe into their log burning fireplace that is a log starter - you only use the gas until the wood fire starts go good, then you shut off the gas - it is original and I think a nice feature. Anyway, looks very nice and ultimate compliments to you.
"You got to have your capable guys up here" aint that the truth. As always top notch work Chad!
Beautiful work as always

I was working with one of my buddies on this one. He pulled everything up. He's just camera shy.
Craftsmanship at its best. Thanks for sharing!

Beautiful fireplace and chimney… so sad it will never see a stick of firewood burnt in it
It's actually depressing 😕
At least the next homeowner will have the option of removing the gas log kit and using it properly.
Nice work brother
Beautiful job
👍
your work is awesome! Glad you are able to show us, lots of knowledge I wish I knew before laying a friends chimney as a favor.
You may want to write a 'how to do it the right way book', excellent craftsmanship.
if only everyone took the time to document their work, the world could learn so much. Thanks for your efforts.
Nice work! Where are the bricks from and what is the name of them? I really like that brick and would like to use that for my fire place.
Thanks!
They are made by General Shale, and I think they are called Watsontown.
Hi Chad, are you in Connecticut? If so how can I hire you! Have a chimney that needs flashing
I'm not
