Small Town Street Photography - Epic Winter Light!

- The winter months can be depressing, but when you get a clear sunny day when the sun hangs low in the sky then it makes for fantastic light for street photography and you just gotta take advantage of it.
In this street photography POV video I head out with my Fujifilm X-T2 and 50mm f/2 lens in my home town, finally beating the winter blues and coming away with some shots I'm really happy with.

Wow! Love this light. Your compositions and attention to color and sub-framing are just lovely. The light in Seattle on my photo days has been spectacularly gray the past month or so. Looking forward to some sunny days. Cheers on your continued photo adventures and thanks for sharing!

Patience is definitely key, I did some 'proper' street photography the other day and was quite happy with the results of waiting in a scene and waiting for, like you say, someone to interact with it.

Some really good shots here Tim. Red traffic light my favourite. Never been to Cheltenham, surprising because I'm only in Swindon. Had to pause the vid early on to change into a black roll-neck and a beret for that Bohemian look thanks to the cool jazz soundtrack.
Haha thanks Geoff! It’s a nice town, and especially buzzing during festival time, or when the races are on. I prefer big city street photography but try to make the most of the town when I can! Glad you enjoyed the tunes, next weeks video has a more bluesy vibe…

I am amazed by the photos you take from Fujifilm. This is the right channel i am looking for to learn and to know the Fujifilm camera. I have a canon 70d and am looking to upgrade to a Mirrorless Canon or a Fujifilm they are both amazing camera's and hard to choose, which i will be happy with. The voiceover works fine. I think the amount is nicely proportional - not too much, nor too little.

I like to have a go at street photography, but i am not sure i get it... I have just got back from Milan Italy and had my camera with me, i struggled a lot.. So i am asking as i don't actually get most of the photos i see on youtube and have no idea what your seeing or taking how would you like to do a collaboration with me a landscape photographer and see if we can do a video on the why?
Hi mate, I’m not doing any collaborations at the moment but I hope you find some street photography inspiration :)
Like the voice over especially if the option is silence, enjoy hearing what you were observing and what thoughts you had while looking for an image. Not sure if it would work but what would it be like adding audio as you are walking about? I see you used a 50mm, do you find you need to crop to get your desired composition? Do not avoided showing us shots that you thought would be OK but on review at home you decided that did not work as you believed, that is also informative.
Thanks a lot for the feedback. That’s a solid idea about images missing the cut, might look in to that in future videos. No I rarely crop when using the 50mm, I tend to want to crop when I use my 35, so that’s why I’ve been enjoying using the 50mm a lot recently as it fits how I see things. But that changes all the time :)

@@timjamiesonphotos Thanks Tim, although I've been following the advice of many who are looking to avoid being sucked into an algorithm driven annoying piece of social media and prefer something that is better geared to photographers. I might be wrong but I was getting the impression that the Vero platform was growing and the Instagram platform was becoming a more challenging place to get meaningful interaction where you get swamped with tic-toc-y tat. As I said maybe I'm wrong. 🙄🤔
