while i'm sure its not actually good, an awd rally tire s1 tune on the forza edition beetle is like beyond grippy, it even grip rolls in dry weather on dirt! you like actually need to put on heavy rims and keep it heavy and put in a lot of rear wing angle to purposefully induce some understeer to keep it from snap oversteering into barrel roll off a cliff. if you can control it though its stupid fast, especially in vw only s1 trials or tours.

lola, alfa 33s, porsche 906, both 917s, and alfa romeo tz2, just to name a few all of these cars in s1 dirt/cc are very lightweight with very high acceleration, some of them lacking a bit of grip
i loath the boneshaker lol. so many nightmares of it in fh4 lol. if i was using it, i was called a tryhard loser. if i wasnt using it, i was called a talentless noob. ive still only driven it on like 4 tracks total in fh5 lol. i wish the scout's stock gearbox wasnt so absolutely garbage, the fact you need to waste so many points to get it to be even drivable in lower classes is a real bummer unless you put on lots of dumb heavy draggy parts to make it just worst than a vw beetle.
the scout’s stock transmission isnt too bad when you compare it to the gmc syclone and bronco ‘75, which are significantly worse you dont have to “waste points” for it to be drivable in lower classes, you just need to properly build/tune it. the C class scout build uses full aero, maximum weight reduction, stock tires, and v8 swap with centrifugal supercharger. it does lack grip, but you can tune it to better utilize that grip
i just think all 4 speed boxes are garbage in any class with the centrifugal setup since you actually make less torque lower in the revs than NA. if you're trying to get out of tighter turns at a dirt circuit track then you'll constantly be inbetween 2nd and 3rd, or if you're climbing big hills in cross country races you'll be inbetween 3rd and 4th either buzzing limiter or out of the powerband in both those cases. scouts stock tires, even with increased profile are just not that great but theyre not any worse than other old knobby tires so... i guess they are what they are. i'll always stand by the f450 as the most op low class vehicle for any racing because its just so stable in any condition and gets dumb power numbers for its class. max weight reduction, stock tires, 6.2 centrifugal setup, sport brakes and gearbox you get well over 750hp, plenty of gears to always be in the powerband (10), modern stock tires are actually decent, and its long boi so it can be cheesy with the checkpoints. wanna take it road racing in c or d class? same principle as before, as much weight out and 6.2/centrifugal swap, stock tires. in b class? use sport tires for road racing or offroad race for dirt. for cross country you can use a 1040hp all motor 7.2v8 with stock tires, and as long as you dont get on any sand you'll still have enough grip to be competitive and have more accel than just about anyone. or just use same setup as dirt track racing for less speed but more grip. thanks for coming to my ted talk. next time out we will discuss why the deberti f250 should be buffed and get into x class.
How about the trailcat for s1 as that was the old meta, And the tundra and tacoma for a class? Also the forza edition racing truck in A class, i like to run a forza wing and heavy rims to lower the PI to add some more power, Also i distinctly remember the S1 meta in fh4 was the ram trx and the hilux in 3 , Also the unimog in fh4 A class offroad was fun with 2400hp
Sorry for late reply. The Trailcat is still good, just not a meta anymore. As for the Tacoma/Tundra, they're good, but fall short to the likes of the Bone Shaker.
