This 2-part walk-n-talk with late Gurcharan Singh Tohra, the most influential and controversial Sikh leader of the 20th century, was recorded in his native village Tohra barely about 4 months before his death in November 2003. Tohra who died of a massive heart attack on april1, 2004 in Delhi , was then recuperating at his native place after a bypass surgery. He had just patched up with Badal after another breakup.
Most quoted by commentators of Sikh politics and scholars of Sikhism, this interview provides historic clues to understand the dynamics of present day Sikh politics and unravel the blatant misuse of Sikh card by some big Sikh feudal leaders to remain in power . Tohra was Tiwana Jatt from Malwa. He was defined as Communist, Lumbar(fox), Machla jatt etc. In fact he was mixup of all these. During his long tenure Sikh thought , identity, culture,historical structures were destroyed. Communist Sikhs emoployed in SGPC. Damdami sidhu is also comrade promoting another comrade. Tara Singh was a Hindu, Nank Chand Malhotra, plant of Congress and Hindu Mahasbha amongst Akalis. Sikhs will have to pass through valley of death if they want to survive and follow a Sikh leader and not comrade or Hindu camp follower.
