Ahhhh.....the memories. I was there and as far as I'm concerned, Jethro Tull was the highlight of the entire festival!
How cruelly sweet the echoes that start, when memory plays an old tune on the heart ! 'Old Dobbin,' Eliza Cook !!
I was around 10 years old when I discovered Jethro Tull. I saved up my allowance until I had every one of their albums. One of the greatest rock band of ALL time!
Very cool
A wise investment 👍
My copy of Aqualung was still hot from the pressing!
Jesus, the drumming is insane!! This live version of Sunday Feeling sounds so much like Hard Rock, it’s just epic!!
❤
Stærkt og vildt gruppe i aften på den gylden løve v.Varnes/Aabenraa.
The rhythm section is a BEAST..Glenn and Clive dipping and diving and driving this tune..Ian was the frosting
One of the best rhythm sections in rock. EVER.
Tull can have such soft and quiet musical passages but also have such a powerful sound as this song demonstrates!
Jethro Tull, the best progressive band i ever heard. Ian Anderson is the fucking Master!!
My favorite Tull line up.
Fantastic! But I like Barriemore Barlow a little more on drums.
ALL of the Band configurations Ian put together were/are thee BEST..!!
Haha.... Cornicks bass cab. was hanging on for dear life at 3:30....and Martin had hair ! Classic .
My favorite Tull lineup.
Hitch hiked there with a friend - so many brilliant bands and performers. Nothing comes close in the following 50 years.
This was the first time I'd seen Tull live. Always fabulous entertainers.
Newport 1969 festival was my first time, after that every time the came to So. Calif. Tell I think 1978, those were foggy times.
@@WilmerCook Wow! What a time to be alive, and young, in California! ✌️💞🎵🎶🏵️🌈
Absolute Monsters, one and all!!!
My God, this just explodes, like nothing on earth!
You said it, Bert Evans ! It EXPLODES out of nowhere!
This was an explosive performance from them
50 years later, it's excellent, they're brilliant, precious happy days.
A Truly Wonderful jazzy Piece .From A Marvellous talented Group
Jazzed-Up Hard Rock w/Traditional-roots Folk Twist of pure Musical THUNDER..!!
Nobody did/does it like Tull. Tull & Rush never a bad concert.
Super banda maravilha sou fá a mais 40 anos(Brasil)
On this day they were the greatest band of all time.
Tull was best when Glen was with them... I've been a fan since the 70's... and it's still obvious... he made all of the other members sound better... he was the heart and soul and drive and bad-ass foundation of the band.
This was Jethro Tull at their very best. They were my absolutely favorite band.
Paul, I made the trip from Winchester to Tanglewood, 7/7/70, to see Jethro Tull open for The Who. Love their first four albums.
Glenn Cornick, besides being a masterful bassist, had very much his own stage presence and charisma. I've long suspected that had at least something to do with IA's firing him. He and Clive made up one of the finest rhythm sections in the business.
Anderson always claimed it was because Cornick liked to Party and the rest of the band didnt/ Remember Ian Anderson refused a Tull performance at Woodstock because he didn't want an association with the drug culture.
How the hell are these guys not in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame?
Uh, because the RRHOF sucks. Look who's in there. Somehow R&R got hijacked by special interests.
Answer: They turned down playing at Woodstock,
Glenn Cornick and Clive Bunker were the best rhythm section for a rock band back then. Jazz savvy which gave Ian and Martin a great backdrop to creating the most innovative rock music ever, well at least for me.
What if Jethro Tull had played Woodstock? Half a Million Freaked Out Attendee's.....this is on Fire!!!!
Like Led Zep, they had a conflicting engagement. I also read that Terry Ellis figured Woodstock for a loser. Joke was on him.
Ian Anderson deserved an Oscar for balance!!! Some performance some musicians some music and some band. A band like that doesn't exist now, so called musicians now don't have that talent. Fantastic
Dopo 50 anni è ancora THE Best..
Ian is crazy i love it what a show
What Clive Bunker did with a small trap set was so much more than any other drummer with their massive drums sets ever could do.
😅 what a groove, unmatched !
this guy deserved to make every dollar he ever made
Jethro Tull and Ian Anderson are too big for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. God bless all from Patrick
Wonderful, That is such a nice clear recording.
Well! Wow & then some...finally we saw these guys in 1972, and they were every bit as eccentric and compelling as this clip suggests. Next best gig: aged 15, second row centre at the Sydney Opera House, 1973: the "Warchild" tour, with fantastic bits of"Passion Play" thrown in, including Ian Anderson giving it some "welly" on the alto sax! Completely fantastic!!
Welly? Wazzat?
The greatest band on earth in front of the biggest ordiens at a festival ever. Can it be bigger !
glenn cornick FUCKIN ROOOOOCKS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
First saw them in 69. And, 10 more times after that, 69-2006. In my feeble mind those early shows were the best I'd ever seen. And, I've see almost everyone worth seeing.
Love The Bunker.
Great song, Martin rocks on guitar. Saw Tull several times in the 70s around LA and once in Albuquerque. All great shows.
Was there! What a great festival - in my view the "last" of the real festivals.
Literally.
@@Miatacrosser So the real festivals in your opinion were only this, Woodstock and Monterrey Pop?
Wot, you don;'t like the modern, corporate, sponsored pop-star festivals?🤭
@@lemming9984 You got it! Totally tame events - ugh!
Yes I was there too, it was just about the music.
They have probably the most solid discography of all "classic rock". Pure excellence in every album.
Just brilliant !
Just amazing.
The Island of Misfit Toys comes alive
I know that feeling so well... Best hangover song ever written.
I doubt Ian has ever had a hangover though. ;-)
This festival must have been something special. I am aware of Emerson Lake+Palmer, The Who and Taste with the greatest guitar player ever, Rory Gallagher, have recorded there. I am sure there are many more. Just feels special. This video rocks. Thanks for posting. I saw Ian Anderson last night in Vegas with the amazing Ryan Odonnell adding vocals, mime and a bit of dance. Still a great show. Still a symphony of Rock.
Also The legendary Jim Morrison and the Doors were there too. If i could go back in time, i would love to go to this concert over Woodstock.
Hendrix was there. Last performance in England.
The one and only unique wild n free cosmic minstrel...Ian Anderson
Astoundingly brilliant!!!!
The best alignment
of the band ever...
Increible. De lo mejor que he visto y he escuchado en musica. 👏👍
Wight Pop Festival...1970...Peace and Love..🦋🌻🌷🌿
EL GRAN IAN ANDERSON!!
FUERA DE SERIE!! DE LO MEJOR DE LO MEJOR!!!
Thanks for share ! Super talent !
Phenomenal.
De outro planeta Jetrho Thull
Meu deus !!! Olha este baixo!!
Excellent set, but I can only remember bits of it...waiting for Jimi. That's his roadie/manager sat at the back. I had been working for the crew building the stage and ended up behind the bass stacks when Jimi was on. Still got the hangover...
Sooooo brilliant!💚
Saw War Child Tour ‘75 @ The Forum in LA Fantastic show!
Wow!
Martin Lancelot Barre...yeessss...
THE BEST
DAS WAR JETHRO TULL PUR 1970. SAGENHAFT IST DAS BEI DIESEM FESTIVAL.IAN ANDERSON NAHM KEINE DROGEN, DIE MUSIK WAR ES WAS ER BRAUCHTE.ITS GREAT.❤😊
Music!
The Mad Minstrel of Rock n Roll, in his prime 'rolling the rock'!
Temazo!!!
A real tour de force shades of joe cocker with that trademark flute rocking away it's a pity that early lineup ever changed.Ian Anderson was very much in control throughout the bands history
Best tull
💈💈. - - After a number of times going to see this band live- and I hope you did as well - a pretty special group of lads that may change the notable musicians, but don’t ask me now I’ve been going to and from , back and forth no matter who shows up in a spotlight, as long as Ian Anderson- ( the Gent ) with the flute is up front, possibly creep around the side, he’s been known to come floating in for the start of the show- in that said alone- would be no other reason- - On a Happy Steely Dan Friday = = =. One and all “ Jethro Tull”
THANK'S FOR THE FANTASTIC VÍDEO.
Paulo Oliva you're welcome!
☮️💙💙💙
Rock ON!
Great performance
they were fantastic i was lucky to see them at the anaheim convention center in anaheim california usa they were such good musicians better than most because of their disipline and their talent
VERY GOOD...............................
😘😘😘😘
Clive is Tull's best drummer.
ROOTS real Hippie SOUND
My favorite tull album is the white bootleg my god album-trying to get someone to upload it-will even send u a cassette of it if u like. Thanka
✌️
if Beethoven and Bach had electricity. Barre's guitar is a force of nature.
BAD ASS
3:17 is a particularly amusing moment. 🎤➡
My only gripe is that Martin gets no camera time during his solo.
Scottish showman
Singles bar in 1970. "So what do you do"? "I play a mean flute". "Oh really, so do I". Sorry, 53 but had a little 7th grade going that I had to get out.
Clive can do the single stroke roll..I’ve seen him do it.
And John Evan.
Fala aí pedrão,
Imagine time-travelling them to the 2024 Grammys. Take THAT Miley Cyrus!
there was problem with money for Jethro tull band...somehow they decided to play finally
Zsír!
They were a tight band back in the day
Ian Anderson helped me be a.much better flute player..live astonishing in concert..he flew onto the stage during intro of Passion Play it took your breath away..the entire band supetb.musicologisrs to this day
Check out Rahsaan Roland Kirk. Ian Anderson gets much of his flute playing moves from him.
Not in the rock and roll hall of fame ?
whos on drumss ? FWM
clive Bunker
Why weren't they at Woodstock?
Ian didn't want to be associated with the whole "sex and drugs" hippie thing, so he turned down the chance to play at Woodstock. The Tull guys were not big partiers (aside from Glen Cornick), they were the type to finish a gig and then head back to their hotel rooms to read.
No, the reason is, the Woodstock organizers would not (could not is more like it) pay in advance. And thus Ian Anderson made the biggest mistake of his musical career.
Jethro Tull....manifest subjective science of the proven the perplexed the explained and the religious .....ask me later or spare me the assumed.....ah ah a fan of those who seek the truth...but faith works by the love of heaven....Jesus and mohamed are a pair far removed.....nothing is easy....truth is servant to care...hate must destroy to it;s diabolical end!!!!!!!
The only thing I can interpret from your post is "Jethro Tull"
