@@civictull concordo pienamente! I don't think Tull ever had any illusions of being another white "blues" band from England, it was a base to start from and get their real music heard. Blues music was red hot at the time in England with the great Peter Greens Fleetwood Mac leading the way. Tull played blues and played it pretty good but their heart was in playing their own creative music.
The shit going on in the UK at the time was fricken incredible, I am 5-10 yrs to young to have enjoyed it, but old enough to remember, Kept all my older bros vinyl.
Looks to me like Martin Barre on guitar so it would be the second line up. Besides, Back to the Family was on the Stand Up album which was released after Abrahmans left.
He played it on the 50th anniversary tour a couple of years ago, which he did as a sort of walk his career from the beginning. I love his flute, but dang he still is amazing on harmonica!
This must be one of Martin barres first gigs as Tony iommi was at the rock n roll circus only a month earlier! Not taking anything away from mr barre but imagine a parallel universe if Tony had stayed and both sabbath and Tull had gone on separate paths ? What would the future of rock been like ? 😂
@@pip12111 as the performance is after the rock n roll circus I would’ve thought it to be Martin as the order goes Abrahams iommi barre. And as iommi was December 1968 . Either that or they’ve got the dates wrong
@@nicksmart5469 Correct. As per IA, Iommi had already left the band but came back to do the RR Circus miming to prerecorded music and live vocals as a favor to the band.

Extraordinary footage - lots of debate here about who's on guitar - 100% it's ex-Nice guitarist David O'List. Knew he'd tried out for the job but not that he'd gigged with Tull - here's proof. He sounds great here as do whole band, but Davy never that robust by all accounts and Ian a famously hard taskmaster so not meant to be.....great to see though.
Glen Cornick was one of the best bass players-ever. The stuff he laid down was so hard, certainly of the highest quality. Miss you, man.

jesus the harmonica is fucking EXCELLENT and unique as hell in this amazing rhythm and blues classic by the amazing Jethro Tull

My favourite piece from their blues period. Old by the time he was 21, the voice of a
45 year old already then. Fantastic

@Tony Tiger Both!! lol.
Clive is a dynamo on drums.
Are there any other versions of this song? It's amazing it never really caught on.
No! This version was only released on the now hard to find "25th Anniversary" box. They never did a studio version.
That's really sad. A curious fact is that it is very similar to Someday the Sun Won't Shine for You
Flávio Alves Check our the 2016 reissue Of Stand Up. This show was remixed by Steve Wilson on CD2.
Yes
Flipping my peace ✌️
Ian Anderson didn't want Jethro Tull to be a blues band. That's why Mick Abrams left. I wonder how much greater they would have become.
La virtuosità di una volta
he's good at harmonica. does he ever play it anymore?
yes he do. saw him last month play sunday feeling
I don't know if there's an instrument he can't play.
Yeah, He is an excellent harp player, I didn’t really know that!
yes TZG 2022
Very underrated on the harmonica. Wish he would play it more.
Much better on the harmonica then the flute at this point in his life MUCH MUCH MUCH better

The bluesy Tull - Every bit as good as Hard rock /Prog/Folk rock Tull . Who is playing the lead guitar- Barre or Abrahams?
