Quick and Easy Seal Rescue

- Another quick and easy kayak rescue for the books. Compared to the sometimes tricky and lengthy rescues, easy rescues give us a chance to regroup quickly and rescue more entangled seals. This bright orange piece of net is not the usual fishing ghost gear we find so often. This piece of plastic net was very likely used to protect cargo or produce. Any plastic has the potential to entangle and kill marine or land-based animals. To protect our wildlife, we have to find and demand eco-friendly options for packaging.

Too bad that we don’t protect our precious wildlife from harm as much as we protect our precious cargo Well done gentlemen!
Great point. This world is too good for humans.
To my, ludzie, tak się w tym świecie rozpychamy, jakbyśmy chcieli zostać na nim sami .
@@hannagradzielewska3586Eventually it'll only be us and what we eat. We're steady killing everything.
Even our cargo flies overboard all the time, soooooooooo we can’t even say we get all our cargo right either!
We can NOT thank each one in your group enough, including the kids, for choosing to rescue these seals!👍👍
Agreed. And it is up to us to do our part to address the root cause of thr problem - pollution, by minimising and better managing waste on our planet.
Thank you team OCN for all you do to save the fur seals from the waste created by humanity.❤
Our efforts are just a drop in the bucket compared to the millions of tonnes of trash entering the world's oceans every year.
We are unfortunately not solving the problem, but only treating the symptoms of the plastic crisis with our rescues. These videos aim to show the consequences of this pollution and create a change to tackle its roots - namely our addiction to single-use plastics, the lack of law enforcement at sea, and the shortcomings of the recycling industry.
Hi all!
Beautiful, fast, with humor, and most importantly, this red net did not have time to harm the cute seal, who perhaps did not even understand that he had been given life. Thanks guys.

😊 Hi. I don't know if you have noticed with all the problems you have had, but the words 'print media' are in your comment now instead of your usual 'seals'. I hope you are okay with me telling you.
I love your daily message and updates and hope you are not still having problems.💙
@@Mcat7101 ,Thank you Corrected it. This is my carelessness. Sometimes you need to translate something into another language, and after that Google translator sometimes changes the whole meaning😍🤗
@@olgapyatYou do so well with your comments. It must be very difficult to write them in English. I read most of the comments, but always read yours because i know you post everyday, and with a really positive message of support for OCN.💙

I enjoy seeing pups of various sizes and ages just having fun playing near the water. Looked like the pup was contemplating a bite on Wally there. But not this day young one.
The puppy would have been even worse trouble without you. Thank you, Naude, Wally and Tony you rescued pup's life 👏❤🦭🌊🌊.
I have a deep appreciation for what your team, and what all naturalists do to save the environment.
We all have a part to play, big or small, by minimising and better managing our waste, and making less damaging choices for our planet. Some can do restorative work, too. 🌱 😊
👍
First time missed, but for this pup the second time was a charm! His 'luck': he probably wasn't too difficult to spot, with that orange net around his neck. Thanks guys!💕🦭
That was a quick capture and release, another piece of junk taken away from harm and a happy little pup. Thankyou OCN. 🤗💝🏴
That was nice quick pitstop, Thanks guys. Please let Wally know that we miss him.

That pup wanted to go back to the water in a hurry, and was prepared to take on Wally if necessary. Luckily(?) Wally and all the OCN team have encountered these moves before. It’s a good job the pup wasn't successful as, if he had only realised, it was really his lucky day. Thank you OCN💙
He changed his mind quick when he saw Wally was bigger than him, lol!

That was a quick capture and release, another piece of junk taken out of harmsway, the little pup can now feel free from the rubbish. Thankyou OCN. 🤗💝🏴

The seal had moves but Naude had better moves. Glad this was easy on you and the seal. You need some of those, from time to time. Thank you for saving him.
They sound like grumpy sheep 😂
Thank you my heroes for saving him ❤️ greetings to all 😊🙋🏼
Overwhelming how much plastic is used very frustrating. Thank you for giving this little one a second chance.👍🙏🏻❤️
Thank you, OCN, for your unwavering dedication to these beautiful animals. ❤

DEPRESSION ERA PARENTS made me who I am today. Father's favorite saying was waste not, want not. Unfortunately, in many countries and cultures waste is so accepted that throwing away a sock with a hole (for example), instead of mending it, is the norm. Father never bought a pair of new shoes until he put his toe through the top of the shoe; soles were replaced when they wore out. Please think about what ends up in your trash. In doing so, you may save a seal. Love and hugs from me in New Mexico USA.
When you come in on the kayak, you can quickly net the seal close to the water. I'm glad you got him this time! Thanks, guys!👏
Dziękujemy,dziękujemy,dziękujemy❤🇵🇱👋
I believe two of those seals are married! Love the jellyfish at the end.
I LIKE the video 👍God bless all those angels that works in Ocean Conservation Namibia and their family. 🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷

Thank you for saving the seal~🤗
I have to say that the OCN team makes it look "Quick and Easy", but I would hate to see the outcome if I were given the task of freeing that seal. The team has honed their skills to an amazing level of proficiency.
Merci OCN encore un qui vivra grâce à vous. Énormes remerciements à vous tous pour ce que vous réalisez ❤️🦭🦭🦭❤️🌊😉
Thanks to all the good Samaritans saving these seals for future generations. You're doing God's work fellas! ❤😊❤

0:09 That poor seal on the right was trying to mate but got blueballed! Better luck next time!
😊 good job guys what would the seals do without you❤
If I may make a suggestion...
Wear that pouch you have for collecting trash on your non-dominant side. If you are right handed, wear it on your left side; if you are left handed, wear it on your right.
As you will most likely be using your dominant hand to hold the seal. And your non-dominant hand to handle the trash. This will keep you from having to cross yourself to tuck the trash into the pouch.
Just a suggestion. Do what works best for you.

That's an interesting piece of netting there., It's looks to me like temporary construction fencing. I say that because of the safety orange color. Materials will be the same but designs vary. From a tactile standpoint it's soft and doesn't mar surfaces, but it's unyielding.

When using the kayak I have always thought you should have a mud weight with about a meter of rope attached to the kayak. This way as the 1st person jumps off, he can drop the mud weight thus anchoring the kayak allowing the 2nd person to jump off and go immediately for another rescue instead of having to drag the kayak to the beach. Nice to see Wally again.

В Намибии снега не бывает. Утро здесь очень холодное, а после полудня от теплого до жаркого. Иногда погода сильно меняется.

Do you guys see any great white sharks out there?
No predators prey on Cape fur seals along these colonies. The water is simply too murky and shallow for sharks to attack, and orcas that frequent this area only once or twice a year do not seem to be interested in them.
HELDEN
And noone can come to an agreement about what to do about this plastic pollution. What a shame!
