Oops, is there a spelling error in the description of the video? "'I'm sorry' is overused, boring and can make you seem week.."
For "week" should be "weak", shouldn't it? :-)
Quite funny examples, by the way... :-b "headlock", "conga line" "cleaning dip", "dragging someone by their tie" etc - seems like you have been partying really hard in Spain, oh well... :-)

One day a Christmas party was organised by Lucy’s CEO, and everyone in the office was invited. At first Lucy had decided not to go, but she stopped by on the way home from the pub. She had totally let her hair down that night! There she got drunk (this is not me hating on her) and made fun of the receptionist’s dress. She said, “That dress you’re wearing, you like a marshmallow.” She was now discussing at the top of her voice how low their salaries were “Overworked and underpaid.”, she said. Amy (my name for the CEO) was now going to deliver a sensational speech, then suddenly Lucy burst into a conga and everyone was shocked to see that. She raised her voice and said, “Hey lady, this isn’t the oscars, get a move on.” Everybody gasped and looked at Lucy in disgust and surprise. It was horrendous actually. Eventually, the speech and ended. A coworker of Lucy was in the middle of a chat with the CEO’s husband. When
Lucy burst out saying in a childish tone, “You have a fat tummy, you’re fat. Fatty, fatty.” Amy was on the verge of firing Lucy. Lucy hadn’t stopped there. After that, she pulled Paul (my name for the CEO’s husband) from his tie and dragged him on the dance floor. While getting her food from the buffet, she dropped an entire bowl of sour cream dish on his trousers. She tried to clean the dip too! She told Amy to back off and find her own man, when Amy came to help. Lucy was outraged and tried to start a fistfight with Amy. She caught her in a headlock!! Amy filed assault charges against her. At last Lucy apologised and got her job back.
The end. This took a while to write.

I liked how you creatively linked all this together, I'm sure it did take a while. Therefore proofreading is most important: When I read through this some words were incorrectly used or were missing ... consequently the sentence didn't make sense. What I like to do is (old school method) write something out on paper in pencil, for ease of editing. It's also good to leave it a while ... then come back to read it again with what I call "refreshed eyes".

English is an alien and a second language for most of the people living in different parts of the world. It makes no difference that one can write or speak it properly or not. Language is merely a source of communication. It's not a source of honor or pride. Those who still believe that the English language is a source of pride are living in the days of slavery (colonialism). Western colonialism is the darkest phase of human history. There is not a single European country in which the History of colonialism is taught as a subject. Even in the British syllabus there is no mention of colonialism. English is merely a language like any other language but its international status compels the people world over to read, write, speak and understand it. Every language is highly respectable and esteemed. Even an African or Amazonian tribal language is highly respectable although just a few illiterate tribal people are speaking it living far and away from the civilized world. The most important factor of a language is that those who are speaking it, should feel comfort and ease at the time of communication. People should learn English as an international language not as a matter of pride. French Prime Minister Clemenceau in 1904 said that "English is a badly pronounced French." English is terribly influenced by the French.

I once got scolded hard by western exchange student. so I say.. "I am sorry.. may I ask?". then he got so offended.. why you say sorry.. did you do something bad to me?? he kept giving me long lecture.. but still I couldn't understand him.
here in Indonesia.. we say sorry first when texting our teacher.. or starting conversation with stranger or someone older. it's pretty common to say sorry first in everyday sentence.. it's to show respect for them.. to lower ourselves (I mean being down to earth).
but because he wanted it that way, I tried to follow. I feel like a bad person. also there's this assistant professor who's much older than us. and he told us to called him by name. woaaaah... i feel so guilty to do that.. so I tried to avoid calling his name.. difficult difficult..

You know as an English speaker of English in England I feel the need to start and end every sentence with 'sorry' just in case someone takes offence at my existence and having had the audacity to think they may permit me to speak to them. It is just how I was raised to be polite and to expect everybody in the world to be disappointed with me for daring to exist. I think 'sorry' is an integral part of our culture and language!🙂
By the way, listening to that story, who on earth did you do that to and did you end up being done for assault? I hope it all worked out in the end?

Some of these phrases really just rub me the wrong way because I've been told them so many times by Staff members that I realise they are just following the handbook and don't really care about how you felt in that moment. Oh no, problem with a customer? Better read page 56. Really makes what you're trying to say robotic and unfeeling. I don't get why people can't just be sincere when they they say sorry... it's not that difficult.

"I owe you an apology" is the only way to apologize without actually even apologizing :)

Around here they say things like "I'm sorry that you feel that way...." and non-apologetic apologies like that.

@@nodakjak Haha, that is a good one. In other words, the person saying this is not sorry for what he did. He is just sorry that I feel bad about it - which again sounds more like an accusation than an apology ^^
Well, a very formal way in Germany to say that you are sorry is "Ich bin untröstlich" which literally means "I am inconsolable" which is quite the opposite of your example.

@Natasha Reif What one person thinks is attractive is often completely different than what someone else thinks. Also, maybe the people of moscow are pretty but she isn't less that anyone. At least for me.😁 thanks and have a good day ahead.
