Might want to clarify this is referencing the LM2 engine. The LZ0 fixed these problems. Still aluminum block, but forged Crank, Rods and Pistons now as well as steel cylinder sleeves. The HP has been bumped up to 310 and Ft LB torque is right at 500 now.
i almost went into a 52k debt just to get a new 3.0L silverado. then after much more thought and research, decided to hunt down an 06 GMC LBZ. After some time, I scored an 06 GMC LBZ extra cab with 140k miles for $10k! Runs perfectly fine, just overhauled the suspension and gave it a full service to start my tracking!
- long crank was fixed - oil leaks suck and can happen with any engine. Lots of newer gas trucks need rear main seals from leaks. I had mine repaired on 2 different f150”s. - emission is BS. Def-dpf-scr-egr are all crap that should not be in a diesel. Out of those 4 things I could see use for an EGR when temperatures are below 0°C as it helps keep engine temps and warms the engine up faster. As someone who drives semi for a living in the oilfield and drives a combination of emissions and deleted trucks. The best performing trucks for cold weather are deleted trucks that keep an EGR. They can at least keep engine temps when it’s -30°C where as no EGR the cab is cold. I have a 3.0 and it’s been great so far in year 1 other than emissions. When towing and at half a tank of DEF it thinks it’s running empty and you have to top it up or else it threatens you with reduced power. All in all I love my 3.0. If they come out with a delete for the LZO I’ll be getting that done and keeping the truck as long as possible. I have it oil sprayed by Krown and PPF on the entire thing to prolong the life.
I just unloaded my 21 AT4 3.0. Besides being in multiple GM shops for emissions issues they never did figure out, which threw me into limp mode while towing multiple times. The kicker was 2 oil samples from Blackstone flagged @ 60-70k miles showing extreme wear metal such as a bearing unloading. Used the Dex-D 0w-20 every oil change from new. I’m so utterly disappointed in this pile of garbage!!! New 25 Duramax HDTrail Boss in driveway now.
Just got rid of my 3.0 21 silverado. Kept trying to regen and started a loud fan sound. I wanted this truck to do good but the def thing was causing so much trouble. Def should have never been allowed.
I have a check engine light that comes on every so often for the emissions system and then it goes out sometimes within an hour or a couple of days. The only issue it cause is it won’t remote start while the light is on. I’m at 4 yrs and 69k on a 2021 Silverado 3.0. RST Z71.
I’m in the market for a half ton truck and want a diesel making the 3 liter engine my primary choice. Does Chevrolet have some of these issues sorted out in their new 2024 or 2025 1500 trucks?
I wanna delete mine so bad! When i first bought my 2022 lm2 it was a beast and got 36mpg and 16-20 towing my 5k toyhauler 26rr greywolf! Then the def kept bidening and they had to replace the whole thing, supposedly a bracket cut thru a ground or wire harness, since I got it back I’m now getting 20 max mpg and 8 towing and it sucks def faster than gas! I did put 22 x11 fuel tritons on with 33 x 12.5 ats but I feel they reprogrammed it or something. I’m going tomorrow to look at 2500s and I might even go back to gas!! 😩they literally screw up everything good in life, and I think on purpose too! They meaning the same people who “pulled” off 9-11! Don’t get me started 😂we’re about to get hit here in Florida with another inside job, hurricane milton!

The long crank, no start issue was fixed with a software update.
Bro said smoothened 😂
Are these problems showing up on the 2024 LZO models?

So bring it to the dealership… it’s under warranty
Which generation is this?
These were mostly 1st gen problems and have been ironed out with the LZO released.

1st most common problem.....its a 2020+ Chevy
