- 2023-07 Minelab Equinox 900 underwater detecting in the salt water now at 36 hours submerged! No leak yet, whew. Gulf of Mexico, Florida.
There are POP UP TIPS on doing beach detecting and using the Minelab Equinox 900 wading the ocean. Finding coins and 925 Sterling Silver and Gold.
Highlighted with the T Rex scoop, Steves Detector Rods scoop handle and Anderson Rods T-Handle.
One of the best vids I’ve seen on the 900…your responses to viewers questions, etc are some of the best, and seems to be a lost art with a lot of vid creators out there. 10 out of 10 in my book…liked and subbed!

If you are notching Out pull tabs you are probably loosing a lot of gold and if you float a basket you will cover at least 5 times more beach some are not interested covering area they are just utubrs been at it for 50 yrs I am 84 yrs now and still can put a pretty good day in the west coast is my favorite keep on digging!!!
I hear ya about the notch. 🙂 I've owned a metal detector since 1967 ☠️ I explained that I only had a hour to hunt, so no time to waste on pulltabs. At this particular beach a 29-30 ring is a small mans 10k band. Real ratio about 1 ring to 200 pulltabs. The basket is needed some places, true. Good luck on your next dig.

He is saying that if I use a Floating Basket to dump my scoop load into it will save time. That is true. I won't be straining to find the small jewelry hidden in the shells. Yes true but this was a very short hunt, so no time for that.@@elnoi7942

I hunted that coast when 20 rings a day was a average day now if I find 1 or 2 a day I feel lucky if I luck and find 5 in a day l feel real lucky
when you are using the 900 in the ocean, what do YOU set your Iron Bias and swing speed at?
Great info to ask about! 😎 That is about the first thing in the video at the one minute mark. I list the important settings onscreen. Recovery Speed = 6 (on land I sometimes run 5) , Iron (FE) Bias = 9 , which is the highest reject setting. This completely eliminates Corona crown bottlecaps and tent stakes which are eveywhere! Modelo caps may show an ID since they are wrapped in Aluminum foil. My testing is conclusive that this does not hurt high tone signal ID or depth. Best of luck !🍀☠️💍🏖
New subscriber to your videos, just bought the 900 and i need to learn it, could you please make a video on how to program it!?, me and 3 of my buddies all got the same detector but the dealers who sold them to us ,none of them don't know how to set them up! Alot of people say this and that ,do this n that ,but theres no instructions in the box, what we need is a video that shows how to start and go through the steps like ground balance to how many tones, how to get more sensitivity, and so on, thank you

Tell me where and what you want to detect. Like Parks, fields, beach or Gold nuggets. What ground or soil? Dry or underwater? Settings wiill be based on that.
Ok, Pul Cee has the best simplest instructional videos on the 900. I can make a video that shows my own special settings for depth that others dont cover.

In most average soils Ground Balance can be set on 0 or Auto all the time. The computer chip in the 900 is so fast it usually compensates except for black magnetite sand.
@@johnnyhiett I strictly beach hunt, the sand and shoreline, but I mostly hunt in the water here in Texas, Excalibur 2 has been great on gold rings and coins but no gold chains?, and a fellow detectorous keeps finding gold chains with his 900 but won't share how to program his detector
OK. Since the 800 and 900 both have 40khz mode, that's what finds the gold chains. The Multi setting Beach Mode 2 uses will favor high frequencies like 40khz. A single link in the chain is what a machine reacts to. The size of the link determines if the chain can be detected.
So select Beach 2 mode. The first thing you have to do is be sure to go into (Notch) Accept-Reject and make sure you are Accepting ID 1 and 2. Gold Chains will often be these low numbers. You can toggle "all metal" with the horse shoe if you want.
I'd start with this:
Beach 2 mode
Noise Cancel - run it Auto by selecting it and tapping the Check Mark button. Then manually adjust Noise Cancel number on a test chain to see what setting really works best.
Ground Balance 0 is OK on your sand or Auto if in the water or dry
Threshold 0, it's simulated anyway
Target Tone must be DP for best results!! Never bother with the other tones unless you are just doing something like shallow coin shooting.
Accept all IDs above 0.
Recovery speed 5 or 6. Do not vary this. The 900 corrects for it as you slow down anyway.
Sensitivity from 22 to 28. I always run 28 in dry sand for depth. Usually run 22 underwater since I can't scoop deeper. Then use 28 to pinpoint.

I have the 900 as well, as of last week... How do you "notch out" pull tabs or any other number for that matter... still learning the machine....
OK. Tap the Settings (gear icon) button. And choose the next to last choice on the display. It displays -19 by default. This means all the negative numbers are notched out. (Tip:All the ferrous IDs are negative and Coke = 1.) [Tip:So, while detecting, if you tap the Horseshoe button it will switch to All Metal mode...nothing notched out.]
Use the + button to advance along the arc of ID bars until you get to 29. Tap the ✔️ to notch out 29. + button again to go to 30, tap the ✔️ to notch out 30. Note the black ID number bars turn off on the arc as you do this. Add or subtract to suit.
Modern tabs since about 1980 are rectangular and have 2 holes. Avg ID 28 to 31 range. (Mens 10K gold band in this range. 28= US nickel) Half a pulltab will ID a lower number. Old beaver-tail tabs have different IDs..test them. Good luck. 🤠

Hello! 🤠 Be certain the cables for the coil and underwater headphones are securely connected. Check that no sand or debris is in the connectors that would damage the O-ring. Secure the headphone cord with the supplied velcro strain relief. Failure to do this can cause plastic to crack on the control box. Wrap the connections with 3M blue painters tape. Cover the magnetic charging connection with the blue tape. (The tape leaves no adhesive when removed.) You do not need to cover the speaker but you can seal it with tape if you want to. I wrap the cam locks with tape to keep sand out. Good luck 🍀 Please subscribe...I need 1000 subs.

Welcome! So far I have heard of no Equinox 900 detectors leaking. As long as you were snorkeling in shallow water you should be OK. The manual states 5 meters (16 feet) IP68. I would use it no deeper than 2 meters. Be certain you Register the detector with Minelab and buy an authentic detector. Minelab will replace a flooded detector if registered. Cover the charging port with 3M blue painters tape. Only use a slow charger to reduce heat. Wrap all coil and headphone connections with this tape water tight. Minelab only warrants use of their Koss headphones. You MUST use the velcro strain relief included with the headphones or it will crack and leak the housing. Use only the OEM upper shaft or it will void the warranty. Go find treasure!! I am sending luck to you ! 🌞 my best tip is use dp tones and FE=9. Like all dive gear wash it in fresh water after use and do not leave in the hot sun.
One more snorkeling tip. Try an inexpensive National Geographic plastic scoop. It's tough and won't interfere with the detector. The 6" coil would be easy to swim with.
Ow dear notching out pulltabs 😮 didnt find much gold then 🤔 ive a nox 800 .. i only notch out to +10 iron and nothing else

@@johnnyhiett 1979 first machine when i was 12... c scope 1200D ... made mistake for years notching out bottle tops ring pulls... and wonder why no gold rings 🤔 ...

You got that right! A good suggestion. 😆 but its not needed in the calm clear waters I hunt. Im trying to maintain low drag coefficient. Also I don't want to be pushing down against the flotation. Note, the new carbon fiber shaft is airtight and provides flotation.

Hello to Japan 🤠. No leaks or other issues on the Equinox 900. My local Florida shop has no reports of leaks. It was in the ocean or surf every day and hosed down every day for the last 4 months. Even when used on land in dirt I hose wash it thoroughly. No problems. I think it is the best detector all around. DP tones is a big part of it's capability. Good luck ! 🍀🏝☠️⛱️💍

Yes, vintage white Columbia Nylon fishing shirt to reflect the sun. 🌞 I prefer Nylon over the current Polyester ones. Old Bimini Bay fishing shirts are also Nylon and have big pockets for a cell phone. If you live on the beach a person better stay covered at all times. I've had many precancers removed. 100 sunscreen or a buff over the face. Thanks and good luck !

Great suggestion! Send me one ASAP please 😀. Actually a friend is getting one that I can use. Most of the areas I wade are often too dangerous to even snorkel in because drunks in boats and jetski's will come right in to shore in the crowd.

Hey, its on the sunny, salty, sandy sea every day without a problem or leak. 🏝😎👍 Even when it isn't submerged it gets washed off with the garden hose every day. I always cover the charging port and connectors with Blue 3M tape for protection. No reason to abuse it unneccisarily. The local beach detector shop has not had any reported leaks.

All metal if in notch hit the horse shoe go 50 50. 35 meter notch back over same ground in all metal never hunted out.
True in many dry land places. But these beaches of dredged sand do get hunted out. Hundreds of detectorists a month hitting the same sand. Many talented old pros using the newest machines. We wait for tourists and weather to replenish. 😂 Best of Luck 🍀!
@@johnnyhiett had one beach not a thing storm next day shit never stopped digging unreal last year 22 targets all gold bank was 2meters high targets just leaked out off the chart low areas the same due to massive sand shift . Parks 50 to99 brilliant on one 2 dollar coins on your silver split tones on 2 or 3 types of silver can help then go to all metal on same grounds ya could get a big surprise.
