    I wished that CCP would implement damage to bumping, bumping is a stupid non-existing mechanics of the game. Ships should take damage from the bump and smaller ship should take more damage since their mass is smaller and less solid. I know it's just a game and it's how EVE works but it's still really stupid. But I liked the video and the explanation of this. :)

    the pertinent effect of the Higgs Anchor is the change in speed under Navigation
    .. you warp away when you reach 75% of your top speed
    .. with Higgs Anchor your Orca's top speed is 18.8 meters/second
    .. without Higgs this is 75 meters/second

    I used to mine in WH using 2 barges constantly webbing each other. Barges had higs too. I was constantly aligned to base and with higgs and webs ships were slow and therefore i could mine a lot before rockz were out of range. This tactic ofcourse won't work vs bubbles but been good to counter solo gankers in j space without bubbles.

    To be honest, unless I have a very specific question, I usually don't even watch EVE instructional videos shorter than 7 minutes even if I'm subscribed to the channel. I generally assume short videos are just them cutting out goodies. When I have a specific question and the video title suggests it will answer it, I will tolerate a short video because sometimes a specific question really does have only some details... of course with this game sometimes even a very specific question has a 30 minute explanation if you don't want "well X is good and take our word for it because the rest of the details are long"

    • @eventon9372
      @eventon9372  2 роки тому +1

      makes sense. There was a time where I thought about 'giving' the answer in the video within the first 3 mins, then the rest would be a more indepth look as to why, how, and when etc..

    • @alex_zetsu
      @alex_zetsu 2 роки тому +1

      @@eventon9372 I don't mind the format of giving the answer and then doing an in depth look, however unless the question is highly specific, usually a short video for this game means it is only the answer and not much else, or worse the answer is outdated. So for general topics, short videos for this game don't cut it, any that answers the why, how, and when must be long. For specific topics, a short answer could be the complete answer, of course in this game it could still be long.
      For example, if I see a video titled "low sec mining" or even "solo low sec mining" that's short, I know at best it's accurate but incomplete but a 22 minute video might have the details. Something specific like "the low sec Retriever, how to fill it up" and it's about how to fill that up without dying to pirate clans despite being squishy could conceivably be a short video. i know for null sec the answer is really simple, your alliance monitors the space and if something isn't blue, it's trouble. That'd be a 3 minute video at most. I don't know about low sec. It could be a short 7 minute video or a longer one. I know it's more complex than null simply because there is through traffic and not every grey is there to gank you, plenty of people just go through. In fact, I think through traffic greys greatly outnumber the ones you really need to watch for. I don't know the answer. However this question is specific enough that a short video might honestly cover all the details.
      Noooo... don't tell me the answer is in the video. It can't be just as simple as putting on a higgs anchor, warping to the belt, start mining, and then align to a station while slowly moving. It can't be that simple. For one thing, a Retriever's mid slot is almost always a shield hardener, so slow boating from the asteroid belt beacon (or ore anomaly or ice anomaly beacon) to the asteroid, unless range is boosted by an Orca or using the ORE strip miners, means that you waste so much time slowboating it'd be better to use a Procurer (which fills up more often and spends more time moving ore, but at least can slap on an AB/WMD and a shield hardener). I can easily see the anchor being great for closing wormholes and letting Orcas do the slow boat mining. But can the answer be "just do it on your mining barge too" when it comes to low sec mining?

    Strat: any place u mine, keep a frigate with a mwd with u. They are great for bookmarks. Next, go to a belt u wanna mine and find all the roids u wanna mine. Right click on each roid and hit save location. Number them so u know. Then warp to each with your miner. You will be about 1,700m away from it. Align to a station, and keep to about 75-80%. Mine happily knowing u can instawarp with Higgs rig.

      1) go out to belt with survey scanner venture and bookmark a spot in range with a lot of high-volume rocks
      2) reship to higgs covetor, jetcan mining aligned. only need 3 non colinear warpable objects (your area has to be within this triangle tho).
      2.5) laugh at gankers (SAFETY/CODE) since you're already in warp by the time they're allowed to begin target locking. max yield mining go brrr.
      3) fill 5 cans with rocks, then reship to miasmos and scoop dem rock cans
      4) compress ore and stuff your venture with it. haul to trade hub/corp buyback station
      5) ???
      6) profit
      P.S. higgs mining fit is less effective in null since baddies can watch where you're aligned and setup a pre-emptive bubble before spooking you

    Keep in mind for the Orca/Porpoise; If you have an industrial core fitted in order to use ore compressors, you will _not_ be able to warp until the industrial core has been deactivated _and_ reached the end of it's cycle. I believe this video may have been released before the Orca could fit compressors.

    I’ve wanted to try out fits using the rig, but with things like Barges or T1 industrials its better to either throw inertial stabs on it or use an afterburner for the guaranteed 8 second align time. If I ever do get the skills and the isk to use an Orca I’ll remember this video.

      I've found that if you cannot get the align time to be less than with the higgs anchor, just fit the higgs and you can put literally anything else in place of your inertial stabs. It seems like after the mass increase from higgs, there is almost no downside to any other module anymore. Like you can fit as many bulkheads or plates as you want and it won't move your align time by more than like 0.01sec.

    Fun video! I've been using higgs anchor for years! One of my favourite rigs, because it's so weird and seemingly nonsensical.
    I use it on low sec haulers. Warp stabs on the lows, can bring align under 6s on miasmos and mammoth with skills and a 1mn afterburner. Mwd cloak trick seems to be the go-to move these days, but if you can't fit a cloak, higgs can help. T2 haulers don't really need it. If you're long hauling, it'll be tiring, but they can lock you all day and won't catch you.
    Also use on jetcan miasmos fleet support in lowsec. Most useful with a fleet of covetors and porpoise. 4 inertial stabs, higgs anchor, mwd and warp speed rigs, can land on the belt, grab the ore and be back in warp in about 8s with practice. Less need to worry about the fleet getting caught with holds full of ochre and crokite, can even do ore pickup during combat, although it's wise to keep a few warp stabs on hand for "hot" pickups. Maximize time on the rocks. Setting up warpbacks is practically mandatory when using in this manner.
