    5, 6 and 7: For warp you need to have the ship 75% max velocity and less than 5º vector with your destination warp point. Its important for undock too after trinity 1.1 patch. Tons of people save the undock wrong this days using the old undock system and teaching the old system to new players.

    Watching an Orca or Charon warping sideways because of webbing, is the funniest thing in Eve! But you did answer some questions I had about align times like undocking. 👍🏻

      yea undocking kinda follows its own set of rules. Unless you have an undock bookmark, you pretty much have to wait the full align time. Orca/Freighter drifting is good fun! lol

    The 4.1 align time vs 4.9 does play a part though. If you for example try to bump someone and youre 4.5 seconds of travel time to the target, the person with 4.1 sec align will be going in a straight line while the 4.9 will still be turning and could miss. Also relevant for general movement while kiting

      as far as I know, your ship is treated as a sphere in space in-game. It shouldnt really matter which way you are facing, your 'hit-box' is the same size and can get bumped the same way. There is a chance a ship could miss you if you are already moving fast and your ship needs to make a wide turn to align, but both ships have a 5 second align time so it wouldn't matter that much imo.

    Using Higgs rig designed for mining ships. Slowing down your maximum velocity allows you to spend more time in range of asteroids while moving at 3/4 of max speed and ready to enter warp.

    #7 and #8 are basicly the same. The alignment of the visual model is not what the server uses to compute align time. Only the motion vector matters.
    I find it very interesting (and kind of a bug), the thing "you're not aligned if your speed is above top speed, unless you already are". Quite inconsistent.
    In short, my understanding is: you can't warp while there's an active command you ships is attepting to execute. Align (to object or a direction in space) is a command that is considered completed only if your speed is below top speed, for reasons.
    The undock bookmark creates a special case, since when you undock the ship is moving on its own, not executing an align command. So you can transition to warp almost immediately even if you're a tad off the direction. I think "stop" isn't considered a command in that sense, but it might be wrong. Not easy to test w/o a freighter.

  • @teeborg1519
    @teeborg1519 Рік тому

    So to sum it up. It doesn't matter which way your ship is facing but it has to move on almost a vector that is less than 5° off from a vector from the ship's location to the destination.
    If that 5° applies it means the way the game is coded is your ship is constantly drifting in space and almost never moving on a vector and to cunter the almost endless time it would take the ship to set itself on a vector they introduced the 5° rule. This explains why it doesn't matter if you web a charon that started moving towards a destination from STANDSTILL and it immediately warps to the next gate and also why it won't work on undock as when you undock to do the same trick the ship is moving on a set direction so if you change that it will start to drift. I don't know how to calculate for drift and it would be very cool if you could tell us.

  • @szpoti
    @szpoti 2 роки тому

    No 7. - the only difference would be if the aligned ship were actually moving towards the destination. If it were additionally at 75% its speed, it would enter warp instantaneously if ordered to warp to the aligned destination. If stationary, indeed no difference.
    No. 8 - I triple-web my Obelisk using the Hynea (yes, a dedicated webbing alt). The freighter enters warp practically instantaneously, minus the time needed for the webbing alt to target the freighter. Once it enters warp, it warps initially sidewise most of the time. Two important notes on that:
    1. This method doesn't work when warping off the station. The gravity of the station frustrates the warp mechanics - mentioned in the video. Use a kick bookmark, and do the webbing off the station. The further away the better, best of course off-grid, so that nobody can see you from the station.
    2. In order to SAFELY web your own ship in High Sec, both pilots need to be in the same fleet AND in a duel!!!! Otherwise, the webber will be concorded.
    3. An additional note on visuals. When recalling drones, they usually are already in the bay but still appear for a split of a second on the screen. What counts is whether you see them in your bay, not what's on the screen.
    No. 10 - It is possible to lock AND point a sub-2sec ship. It is technically NOT possible to lock AND point a sub-1sec ship. It goes down to the mechanics of the server.

    Nice one mate! xD I get more grief over saying 'Geela' than over Hecate/ 'Hecatie'. I am pretty sure you can't use webs to speed up align on the undock either, just on gates / off belts etc I only try it on my bait Orca though. Undock does seem to have it's own rules. I often pre-align and then stop the ship when I am mining / gas harvesting. It may not technically speed up aligning, but I know there will be nothing in the way, and gets me in the appropriately alert state of mind, and in my head at least less to do :)

      @eventon9372  3 роки тому

      exactly! the rules of undocking are weird to say the least. I am the same way, I like to 'pre-align' when mining to make sure nothing is in my way when I try to enter warp.

    IGN Greg Tanner Maybe I was one of the few that knew CCP rounded up the align time but one thing me and my associates use to do and was a hit or miss was bump assist with the larger ships like Battleships, Orca and Frighters where you would bump the ship from behind after it was aligned and that would assist it into warp faster... there is also a rigs that could help out but experiment with them at your own risk, results may vary.

    The thing with the sub 1 second align time... yes, you can get your fit to show less than a 1 second align time... but because its a 1 hertz server tick, meaning every time in the game rounds up in reality, the only way to actually get a sub 1 second align time is to create a fit with a zero second align time. So functionally, due to hardware limitations, it is impossible to get a sub 1 second align time regardless of what you can achieve on a fitting screen.

  • @Armuotas
    @Armuotas 2 роки тому

    Regarding #4. There's a rig for that, called "Higgs Anchor". If you put it on (my case an already fully "inertialy stabilised" T1 frigate) max speed goes down to 100m/s, inertial modifier to 0.95, and align time goes up by 0.2 to 2.83 (which is nothing). It does cut into warp speed quite a bit though.
    With full cycle from 180deg away to warp taking exactly 4 seconds it basically turns into a shuttle with a large cargo bay. Too slow for null-sec but good for hauling small expensive items to trade hubs, where you can hide in the traffic.

    You said "harder to lock you or whatever." It's not so much that orbiting stops you from getting locked, but a moving target is ALWAYS harder to hit than a target standing still. The theory is, no free shots. It's not 100% but it is true.

      True, I could have phrased that or explained it a bit better. I guess I talking mainly for HS mining which if you are locked, usually you are dead anyway. Regardless, I would rather have a consistent align of 5 second than a 50/50 chance at a 4 or 6+ second align due to orbiting. Thanks for clarification.

    Ultimately the 2 sec align time depends on ticks which depends on location, internet service, other factors and not just ccp. Internet speed is not lightspeed and someone physically closer to the servers will have a slight though real advantage. On the average only though. Net signals don't always follow the most efficient pathway route. IGNK Antturas Hawk.

    The webbing trick has some issues/drawbacks, it now flag's you even if your in the same fleet/corp, if its a small system you will be stopped from jumping as you will still have a timer, (unless its been changed) so you need 2 people to scout/web in small systems if speed is the main issue, I think Hateless gaming did some tests with the sib 2 sec align timer, and he found its not totally safe, as I recall he paid out to the guy he was testing with.

    A question about the 4.1 vs 4.9 align time mechanic, if you still read the comments on this video
    I understand that mechanically the game rounds up to the nearest second, that makes sense and is easy to understand
    But does the game "enter" you into warp faster with the 4.1 than the 4.9?
    More clearly, if put side by side entering warp, and someone with a 4.5 second target lock time tries to target and scramble the two ships, will they successfully scramble both ships as a result of this, or only the slower one despite them starting the actual journey at the same time when left alone?
