Q: How did you build all of your alt accounts?
A: A few of them were ironman accounts that have since been de-ironed.
Q: How did you make all of that money?
A: I trialed to become a rank in a couple barbarian assault services, BA Services and BA Boosts. Doing leeches is the most efficient way to go for the Penance Queen pet and will also fund a large portion of my gear for pvm.
Q: Will there be a new pet for every video?
A: We're shooting for a bi-weekly upload schedule regardless of whether or not there's a new pet to show. Dry streaks are bound to happen in many different places, so it's not likely that every video will have a new pet.

As someone with a masters in statistics I just want to say that the stats explanation section is explained perfectly!
The explanation was good, but I believe there is one mistake with it. You can't just use the binomial probability function evaluated at x=1. While "you" may only be trying to get the pet once, someone who got two or more pets in the same kc is still luckier than you are. To get accurate probabilities you need to calculate the chance of "at least" one success, not "exactly" one success. Equivalently and easier to calculate though, you can calculate the probability of not having exactly zero successes.
@@slamprogram thank you for calling this out! I absolutely did show the probability of obtaining just 1 pet, excluding people with 0 pets AND 2+ pets. I was already hesitant to actually show the binomial formula because I thought it'd either a) confuse people or b) uninterest many people so I tried to simplify it and just make x=1. Looking back I should've taken the extra 30 seconds to explain how it's actually 1-(chance of obtaining 0 pets) so x=0. Fear not, my computations for the series are still correct though (besides a miniscule rookie error in ToB pets calculation). Despite it being simple stats, it's been almost 5 years since I've graduated undergrad so give me a bit to warm back up to all this 😭 Thank you again!!

One thing I appreciate about Coxies series is the fact he understands the RNG calc and pet hunt grind.. I am so sick and tired of osrs gamers who watch content creators that obsess over drop rates, and they will literally complain about getting a 1/3000 RDT drop like they got robbed of a rare/pet drop because of the rdt table which is completely separated from the main and secondary drops… and people will get triggered and mad at others being lucky even if they got 600 kills on a fucking 1/3000 pet, everyone acts entitled to getting ridiculously lucky on anything that resembles a 10+ hour grind. Honestly 1 of the cleanest and most enjoyable youtube series out there in OSRS’ lifespan🎉🎉

The math here isn't correct. You're trying to compute the probability of receiving a pet in N trials. If X is your binomial(p,N) random variable then $Pr(X = 1) = (N choose 1 )p^1 q^(N-1)$ gives you the probability that you receive EXACTLY 1 pet in as many trials. The event you are considered with is $E = receiving a pet in N trials$ this would be equivalent to $Pr(X >=1)$ so its the summation of receiving 1 through N pets. This is simply equal to the geometric distribution which tells you the probability of receiving a pet in $k$ trials $P(Y = k) = p*(1-p)^k$.
yes, you are correct! For simplicity, and due to the fact that this stats segment was already 2mins+, I left it obtaining just 1 pet in hopes it'd make the most logical sense to the average person. I probably should've just taken the extra 30sec to explain that thinking of it as 1-(chance of obtaining 0 pets) is an easier way to visualize it and the more correct way of actually computing your luck. What I showed was a calculation of obtaining ONLY 1 pet (excluding 0pets and people with 2+ pets).

How i see it, it's rolling a 4,000 sided die but only 1 side says pet, everything else says fk off
I take issue with the idea that you are "no closer to the pet." While I agree that the odds of the roll itself are identical, if you look at the larger picture, you become less and less likely to not receive the pet. I'm rusty on my stats jargon, but I know there is a term for this and I know there's a way to calculate the odds of an event occurring some distance away from the expected value. It's a bell curve. You are "no more likely" to get the pet on kill 4,001, but it is highly unlikely that you will be 16,000 kc dry.
I think it's all just a matter of how you frame it. Independent event probability is only one consideration. :)
I like to think of RNG as a big bag of skittles.. you have 3999 orange skittles and 1 yellow one. Every kill/pull/etc you reach in and pull one skittle. The pet would be the one yellow skittle. (You put the skittle back after every pull ofc)
Feel bad lol, green logged tempoross at 1031 rewards / 234kc and got gotr pet by 604 rift searches / 163 kc.. hope you get both soon. Can’t imagine putting in those types of hours at either lol.
ive tried explaining the drop rate few times to people, EACH role is 1 in X amount, not you SHOULD get in X amount XD. 1 in 4000 is 1 in 4000 for every time you attempt it, be it a clue, a pet, a whip, or a bronze axe XD
I liked the stats segment but it’s nice to remember a quick way to calc how ‘dry’ you are is to do 1-(chance of failure)^(#oftries), since that’s the probablility of having no successes at your current KC
I feel like the coin analogy is easier explained by a dice analogy. if the drop is 1/1000, it's like rolling a one-thousand sided die, expecting to get a 1

People underestimate the utility of statistics. It's a really important branch of math. I have an engineering degree and I wish I had taken more statistics courses. It's valuable to the data we analyze in the field.

Sub 5 trio is a good benchmark for fast kills. My pb is 4:43 and the fastest I've seen is 4:30

Are you saying that you are lucky or unlucky compared to the drop rate, or the 50th percentile of when the average person would get the drop? e.g the 1/3k for the kbd pet, 50th percentile would be around 2080kc unless I got the maths wrong, so I'm not sure if you're calculating if you're lucky or unlucky based on the 50th percentile or the drop rate. Independent rates are the equivalent of having a jar full of 3,999 blue marbles and 1 red marble. Every single time you reach in and grab one marble. If you get a blue marble, you then put it back in the jar, shake it up, and pull out another. The rate never changes, and you always have the exact same chance of pulling the red marble every time. 15:00

I like to think of drop chances like a gigantic prize wheel with thousands of prizes on it with most of the spaces being the same thing; mainly low level drops. Then 1 space for a pet.
Every time you get a KC you spin the wheel and as you land on the prizes they aren't taken off the wheel, rather you can land on the same prize twice or more.

With 56 pets to get at this point. And with so many episodes being petless now, I'm losing interest in the series. Consistant uploads are great for the algorithm, but I'm not going to watch 10 episodes of this length to see 3 pets.
Sorry to hear that. All pets is a very long goal - I’m assuming it’ll take roughly 3 years depending on how many new pets they add. Dry streaks happen and I feel like it’d send a false narrative if I didn’t showcase that in my petless episodes. Finally, if I only ever uploaded when I obtained a pet, due to the nature of pet hunting and rng, this would lead to a wildly inconsistent video schedule. Sometimes going months without an episode. I’ll try my best to keep the petless episodes still entertaining ❤️

Small teams! Duos and trios being best. Nex pet is calculated by 1/500n, where n= the number of players in the room. So it’s roughly 1/1k duos or 1/1.5k trios for nex pet rate
