In real world situation, I think the R8V10 would be the winner. The Viper demands a good driver to fully reach its potential. And of course, if anyone here has driven a manual car, it's a toss up. You're not going to be nailing it every single race. And then there's the question of traction. Viper got lucky here, it looked like it was able to hook, but in the real world? Sometimes pavement and tires don't want to cooperate. All in all, I'd say the Viper is faster, but the R8 will probably be more consistent.
Yeah, Viper has more power but R8 have Vorsprung durch Technik... And sounds amazing!
Traction is not a huge issue with the massive rear tires on the Viper. The shifting is what would make the difference. Watch TX2K and they have 2000hp Vipers running on the street and hooking just fine running low 8's on street conditions.
eichler721 same With UGR they have 3000 Hp R8s and Huracans with low 7s and They have beaten Alpha GTRs
@@eichler721 keep in mind those 2000hp vipers also have sequential shifters. Viper in this video is forsure faster though regardless if the shifting was on point or not.
@@eichler721 surprisingly traction is still a huge issue despite the 355s. My pzero corsas would light up even warmed up in 2nd gear. There is an easy fix though, Toyo R888Rs
Great shifting in the Viper on the 2nd run. Still, if a manual car can beat a dual clutch car over the course of multiple shifts (30-140), the acceleration has to be much stronger in the Viper.
It's the displacement of the Viper that gives it it's acceleration. While yes, the Audi makes similar power with a smaller engine, the Audi also has less torque to work with, nearly 300 lb-ft less than that of a Viper. It really shows how handy displacement can be in terms of acceleration, just by the shear amount of torque they have in lower RPM's.
Also The viper is red where as the Audi is Awd so there’s another advantage that the Audi would have

Loved that game, it was the last nfs that didn’t shy away from police chases, and I have some great memories there. That is a cool connection from present to over a decade later.
All you needed was an LFA and a Huracan to complete the V10 cycle.

Viper wins by a landslide baby. 8.4L of Mopar power with a 6 speed manual destroys a tuned 5.2L V10 Audi R8 with a dual clutch transmission. How awesome is that?
the engine is over 3 liter bigger and its also tuned and still cant hope off the R8 so idk man it looks kinda bad tho
@@kanciastygra it's an automatic vs manual. Automatics are vastly faster now so that's why this is really good for the viper.
@@kanciastygra while the Viper had the handicap of not having a similar shift time to that of a dual clutch, it MORE than made up for that with the shear amount of displacement it has. Those big displacement engines love it when you get low in the RPM's. It was an awesome race!

Great finale Dan. For some reason, I was expecting the Audi to be closer and while they are both incredible machines, there is no doubt the Viper won the race. The Audi definitely jumped the start on the first pass and the Viper was still reeling it in towards the end. I believe if both races have been clean, the Viper would have taken both. While I would drive any of the 6 cars that were in the original races, driving manual is still the most fun you can have with your clothes on. Thanks to all the drivers and thanks for the three part series Dan.
Thanks Francois. I’d like to do these exhibition style races every once in a while just to spruce things up a bit. Hopefully I’ll have some other ones in the works for later in the year. In the past year and a half since starting this channel, these races and performance tests have really solidified the idea for me that manuals are purely for enjoyment of the vehicle and driving itself, while the DCT/Auto gearboxes are for people who want the absolute most out of the performance. It’s hard, and sometimes you can’t have both. Sad to see the manuals going away, but luckily, the next episode will have me in something very pure again.
I think the v10+ would have been a better match up - shorter gearing over all - BUT no question that viper rips...

I'd go with the Viper by the way it was pulling so hard above 100mph. 30 to 170 would really tell the tale as the horsepower and lighter weight of Viper should really walk the Audi. All wheel drive is great for low end punch but horsepower is King for top end. Your vids are great!!

Well, I think that rolling start is all about TORQUE! The Viper just seemed to have some traction problem in the first run. Even the faster DSG gearbox couldn’t save the otherwise very fast R8. By the way, a stg2 Audi TT RS vs that R8 run would be awesome 😉

Wow, that dude driving the Viper can row some gears. His shifts lost no more than about 6" to the R8. His 3-4 shift was insanely fast. Nice job man. And, the Viper is the winner in my book. Astronomically better looking car, too. Never really liked the styling of the R8 - hate the front end.
I have an two Audi's and a Viper, so I'm not biased... with that said, the R8 took off noticeably earlier in the first race. Had that been an even start, the Viper would have won both. Add in the handicap of having only RWD and being a manual running against a MUCH faster DCT and still running the R8 down, the Viper is easily the clear winner.

I still think the ZR1 was supposed to be on there around same price and hp . But here the viper won.. by at least 2 car lengths and was still pulling away.. on the 1st one R8 won by 1 car and the viper was catching up
All the previous ZR1 are amazing cars and performed very well when they came out. I'm saving up for C8 ZR1

Viper will run laps around the r8 on the track. Numbers aside, the viper is more engaging to drive, thus more fun for any driving enthusiast. Great video.
In a straight line, maybe. On track, You'd need the ACR. Not this one.
With the same tire R8 is faster.
@@montro-city9920 the TA is tuned for the track....this was the TA 2.0 with a bigger wing than the regular TA, but a smaller wing than the ACR aka "Time Attack" , its just not as downforce heavy as the ACR.
@@montro-city9920 viper gets 7:01 on the ring. Audi r8 v10 in 7 minutes and 45 seconds... lol. When i was in a gt3 on track last, the viper was the only car in front that was unbeatable by the other cars there.

So let me see. The first race the R8 got the jump but they Viper still reeled it in but not in time. Second race equal start and Viper clearly starts running away. It won by more than 2 car lenghts. Clearly the Viper is the faster car. That's a no brainer. Don't know why y'all don't want to admit that lol. There is nothing to debate here.
It's nice to just take guesses on tuned cars instead of getting them to a dyno.
They're both V10 but they're different engines. The Audi is like a 4.0 liter and the viper is a 7.3 liter

Yo track day, as a Viper owner, the best car to own for the track is the viper. not prone to heatsoak, light-ish weight, ACR trumps all of those in grip too. I have a 15 SRT, not an ACR but still hauls ass. Im going to sell it one day for an ACR.

Viper all day! Yes you need a skilled driver, but at the end of the day its lighter and has more power. The R8 had a jump on round 1 and still got reeled in! The 2nd round was Star Spangled V10 from the drop and cleared the finish by almost 2 1/2 car lengths. Great Video!
Audi V10 plus would have been a better option here. Its definitely faster.
I’d say in this case the viper won. Not only because it got a bad start in the first race and still reeled the Audi in, but because it won the second race outright and while still being a manual. It’s insanely tough to pit a manual car against a dual clutch, regardless of power difference.

I recon the viper by the smallest of margins, the Audi jumps ahead due to shorter gearing but the shear grunt and capacity of the viper quickly pulls it back. You can see at the end of the first race even though the Audi was ahead the viper was quickly pulling it back just before the video ended.

@Koach K It was the driver's dragy and we weren't able to verify the data from him. We prefer, for data purposes to rely on VBOX rather than dragy.
Great videos. The faster version of a C7 Z06 with the auto and stage I aero would've beat them all from that roll.
I think the Viper has the slight edge. If it were a V10 Plus with the different gearing, might be a different story.

And now let's take those 2 cars on a 10 miles long stretch of a twisty rally style wet kind of road ( ie real life conditions ) I wonder which one would win with ease ?
Viper is the clear winner... 1. The Audi jumped slightly and I mean just barely on that 1st run but gets reeled in 2. The 2nd run shows the strengths of both cars and the Viper pulls away mid to top end. Both are amazing cars I would buy either one or both if funds allowed. Now if you could get your hands on a UGR or Dallas R8 and a Calvo or Nth Viper TT that would be hella interesting

Viper due to the first race spin and still reeled the Audi in. I saw maybe a car and a half on the first race. When they both got traction, Viper just pulled away on the top end. I'd would give the winning spot to the Viper and the driver

A tuned R8 will be nowhere near a 700hp 8.4L on a roll lol. On a dig R8 will dump on it. If both were stock R8 V10 plus would take it, even in a rolling start.

The way the Viper started pulling hard towards the end of the first run, and especially winning the second run is super impressive. And even more so with it being a manual. No bias here at all from it being my favorite car ever. It’s simply always gonna surprise with its performance. Viper for the win 🔥
