Grace Kelly with the Davidson College Jazz Ensemble

After a year of not meeting together, our Jazz Ensemble, directed by Bill Lawing, celebrated the spring semester by performing with one of America’s most renowned young jazz musicians, Grace Kelly Music. Her residency with the Jazz Ensemble and our combos culminated in a recorded performance on March 6th. This concert highlighted Kelly's plethora of talents from saxophone to singer to songwriter. Four of the five pieces are her original compositions and two feature her as a singer. Some highlight moments are her incredible saxophone solos and impromptu dancing. To begin the concert, Davidson College alum Ben Allison '11 prepared a short documentary on her visit. We hope you enjoy this marvelous virtual concert!
