This man should have played the Emperor in part 2.
Came here to comment this. It would’ve been so cool and he’s the perfect age for it
I agree he would have been fantastic for the emperor, Although it would have been something that takes the viewer out of the movie… but then again, Christopher Walken voice kind of took me out of the movie as well
yes. yes. YES. YES. Y.E.S
Christopher walken gave such a lame performance in an otherwise great film, Kyle would have absolutely served it up
That would have been so freaking cool!
The OG Lisan Al Gaib! He drinks the wine, as it was written
The true Mua'dib wears a stillsuit that changes sweat into wine.
He shall know your ways as if born to them
I wish they give him a cameo in the third movie.
Dune 84 may have been harshed by critics back then and disowned by Lynch but it will always be one of my favorite films. It has a unique feel no other film has achieved.
Dune should be weird. Lynch did it best so far. And that ToTo soundtrack...
I've always enjoyed the original, but there is an awesome edit of the film on YT by SpiceDiver. It makes so much sense.
I loved it. Honestly. Especially the 'extended' version. It is flawed. Lynch was never allowed to finish it, and it was butchered in edit.... But it's this flawed, beautifully weird thing that I have always enjoyed.
Then again, David Lynch is one of my favorite film makers ever. I have loved literally everything that dude has made. I even like the examples of his art that I've seen.... So not a huge shock I am in the minority that loved Lynch's version.
I like to imagine an alternate reality where Lynch actually got to finish it and edit it. Heheh... Maybe it's that way in the reality where Laura Palmer disappears instead of being murdered... ;)
I think that David Lynch's Dune is actually better than the book. Lynch's book also inspired Warhammer 40K along with Starship Troopers.
@@aerochicc Spicediver cut is the best version of that film.
I loved the new Dune and Timothee Chalamet in it... BUT
I still see Kyle Maclachlan as Paul in reading the books....
He just has that natural command 🤷♂
love how he is able to play the youthful teenager for the early scenes yet the steady young adult for the later scenes
Bro, when Kyle yelled silence I felt that.
He should have been the Emperor in Dune Part 2
It would have been cool, but not something Denis would do.
Count Fenring, the almost Kwisatz Haderach
Special Agent Dale Cooper. What a guy. Kyle always comes across as a really decent person in every interview I've ever seen of him.
Love what he said about both Dune adaptations coexisting
If they made coffee or cherry pie flavored wine, that would be Dale’s favorite.
It's so cool that Kyle was such a fan of Dune before getting the part! I like that a lot.
There used to be a magazine called Starlog. They interviewed Kyle and he stated how excited he was to play Paul and he said he believed that was the character he was born to play.
Kyle seems like a REAL class act. Most of his characters come off as sophisticated and enjoyers of the finer things in life, such as Cliff Vandercave (the first thing I had ever seen him in).
I love his knowledge of wine, and that he has his own wine. I wish I knew more people who love wine. 🍷
I had the pleasure of talking to Mr. MacLachlan about his wines at a wine trade tasting in Las Vegas. I am always skeptical about "celebrity wines." But he was clearly passionate about his label and the wines were very good.
That’s wholesome. Reminds me of Dan Aykroyd’s Crystal Head Vodka
Same with Maynard James Keenan. He's very protective of his winery.
I'd pay $40 to have eavesdropped on that conversation between Chalamet and Kyle about Paul. You don't really get to hear too much about actors talking about playing the same character. We only have 1 note from Harrison Ford to Ansel, one sentence from Billy Dee to Donald Glover, and absolutely zilch from Christina Ricci to Jenna Ortega. So to actually hear a real conversation between OG and New Blood would be sweet.
If Kyle isn’t cast in Dune Messiah we riot.
Who should he play?
And credit him as Kale McLaughlin
@@ForceMaximus84 honestly I don’t care. I never read Messiah but from what I’ve heard Denis Villeneuve is gonna have to get ultra creative to turn it into anything on the level of D2.
And clearly that man knows how to cast.
Head of Alia's Priesthood.
Riot then
DUNE 1984 is a well-made classic film based on an incredible book. It has always been known that translating that material to film would be difficult indeed. I have no doubt that the success of the modern-day Dune movies was partially due to the '84 cult classic. Once a fan, always a fan. #LLTF
Kyle is a gentleman
I love David Lynch’s dune.
For the Head of Wine Retail, she’s really a fantastic interviewer. All while uncorking and serving wine. Very impressive
The only thing is, she doesn't give him a moment to actually take a sip! Otherwise a pretty good interviewer, keeps it moving along and keeps it light.
Great Ray Manzareck too
I wish they had mentioned The Doors. I love him as Ray. I became lifelong fans of Kayle and Val, and obviously, the Doors after watching that movie.
@7:04 Fun fact Re: Chateau Montelena... The film "Bottle Shock" follows the story of Chateau Montelena’s triumphant victory at the Paris Wine Tasting of 1976. AND, plus plus good, Alan Rickman is in it! (RIP)
Kyle is the best!
Can I dare say that he is aging like a great wine ?
This is a compliment btw 😁
@@cathyb1273Yess hes aging like fine wine, that's for sure!
Hey Kyle, “The Wine Must Flow” 😂. I always loved you as Paul. 👍🏻
Hes 65!!! Wow!😦
I love both parts of the new dune, but my first love will always be Lynch’s Dune
Fallout looks amazing. Great vid Sotheby's!
Really agree about the Dune film adaptations existing happy in their own places. Lynch's Dune had many of the great quotes from the book and was what led me to read the books
Such a huge fan of Kyle! I was a little kid when I saw the 1980's Dune and still love that movie! Also use to watch Twin Peaks with my mom when I was a kid. He's knocked it out of the park again with Fallout!
I'm not sure if someone has already brought this up, but when they start talking about Dune, the caption in the left lower corner underneath Kyle Maclachlan states that Dune was released in 1985.
That's incorrect. The movie was released in 1984.
Hope not an act, but Karl unlike so many actors came over as a really nice, polite and decent guy without any of the pretentious 'ego' that most film actors have. Could not agree more that he should have played the Emperor because with his film in 1984 and I would say his acting and presence in being able to convey Paul Adredies as Frank Herbert wrote the book, I doubt very much the recent Dune would have got the backing to be made.
Love Kyle to death, but Vanessa deserves huge props for being such a sweet and fun interviewer ☺️ great video!
Lynch and Kyle's Dune is still my favorite version. It's not true to the story but the vibe is spot on.
Ive always enjoyed his work... And when he is working with Lynch? That is simply mandatory viewing for me.
how good was he as Dale Cooper and the great 3 roles in Twin peaks the Event series?
Very nice for the mayor of Portland to take time out of his busy schedule to do this interview. We can’t have the Seattle mayor doing more interviews than Portland.
dude was easily the best part of Dune 84 and I really hope he gets some sort of cameo in Messiah
A Paul Atreides wine that should be spicy should be a Gewurztraminer. Spicy flavor and light yellow like the sands of Dune.
Vanessa is a treasure trove of information and a great interviewer. More please.
Had a few glasses of 🍷 wine there, I see?
Huh, I didn't like her personally. Remind the actors that they're paid good money to answer her dumb questions. That's a great way to put them at ease.
Kyle looks great. I was a fan of the David Lynch Dune, despite a few deviations from the script and he is very classy in his take on the new films and their various interpretations of the books.
What a cool concept Varnamtown sounds like
I got liked by Sotheby's. I'm in the center of our global art world! Yay! Sotheby's, let's be best friends. My discoveries are once-in-millennia, 100% actually.
I’m a bit disappointed that he didn’t go with spiced rum for Paul, but maybe that’s too obvious.
Duke Paul Atreides of Arrakis
Love Kyle!
Can't we bring Agent Cooper back into the Marvel MCU via a Metaverse?
Anything is possible
"Dune 2000 is the best Dune anyway" Lynch
BAHAHAHA no
@@purefoldnz3070 I've actually read that quote in his biography book
@@GEMSofGOD_com doesnt matter what you read its wrong. Dune 2000 is hilarious with its stupid hats and zero budget. Its like if a High School play made it.
@purefoldnz3070 I agree. Doesn't matter what Lynch or common sense say, I trust purefoldnz3070 who likes himself on UA-cam
@@purefoldnz3070 OIC. You've searched what's Dune 2000 on UA-cam and read the first comment there. What a job. No, ofc he's told that about Dune 2000 THE GAME. And yes, he actually said that. Mine's not a joke. The game's GOLD. I don't quite recall, but maybe Lynch called it even better than books.
Cooper, you remind me today of a small, Arrakan muad'dib
😂
Thank you!
Great conversation! The format - Que Bella! ✨️
I wish he was still the mayor of Portland...
to anyone commenting about Kyle not being in Dune 2/wanting him to be in Dune Messiah: maybe he is just respecting David Lynch? I think it would be a bit corny, anyways.
My favorite role of his was in Blue Velvet where he played a simp who got caught up in some funky shitake.
I was hoping for Orson from Desperate Housewives to be mentioned
I’m excited to see him in Fallout 👍🏻
Kyle willl always be Paul Atreides, other guys a weak parody
Have you even seen both the new ones?
@@robbo_96 Yes. They have alot of hype cause Timothy is the new kid in town theyre pushing yet Doesn't have the same DUNE Ambience of the Lynch one which Frank Herbert was at location with on production.
Kyle brang a Dept in Paul that was spot on.
@@robbo_96They were both new ones forgettable and disappointing. True fans like me have a Biase cause we want to promote the book and see something on screen yet wasnt very good. Lots of woke changes
@@jerryjayson67 Man! I haven't seen it yet but all the fuss around it along with being spoiled by all the clips, I already know it won't surpass the Lynch version and the miniseries for me. I see that it has some stunning visuals but there is a lot that is missing along with the woke agenda shenanigans. I sound like I've seen it but I can't get over Zendaya playing Chani.
If the new movies go far enough, we NEED Kyle to show up as The Preacher. The opportunity is too perfect to pass up.
Got a good wine selection in Vault 33…
bruh Paul drinks spiced wine its real easy
Ah yes, the most romantic kiss in all of cinema. When Dennis Hopper serenaded him with Roy Orbison, then promised to write him a love letter.
Now gonna have to go find some Pursued by Bear asap!
The water of life?
"..and on that note: Saved by the Bell!"
Haahaa..I see what you did there..!
The sleeper shall awaken.
His work in 'Twin Peaks The Return' is one of the single greatest acting performances of all time.
The best Dune movie with the best Paul! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
“El - Elixir”..
Thank you.🌺
I just want to ask Kyle what year this is. Because I don't know. I don't understand anything.
"We will kill until no harkkonen breathes arrakeen air".....class line
My history, from spice to wine.
I'm 33 watching Twin Peaks for the first time. Kyle is in his Zaddy Era ❤
i like every movie he´s in.
“Send them back!”
Just saw Dune 84 at my local Cinemark theater just before Dune Part 2 came out! Loved it but hated the fat pus pocketed monster!
They forgot about his role in Blue Velvet.
He’s starting to sound a lot like Jeff Goldblum haha
I’m old school the original dune is the best .. 🇦🇺
What a great chin
Kyle's Dune was the best Dune.
How about Paul as a Gewirtztreminer?
Sting should have been we emperor
You should have been Duke Leto in the new films. Alas.
What a class act.
Didn't talk about Twin Peaks
That insert picture of Kyle as Zack Carey from Showgirls looks like the evil Peter Parker played by Tobey Maguire in Spider-man 3. Kyle’s Zack came before Maguire’s Parker.
Beautiful interview. I prefer the original Dune. Great for the remake but the original is the best for me. Kyle is amazing!
Love him ❤
WTF are you people talking about? “The Captain” from HIMYM never played another part.
I have literally never had wine, just because of how I live, but listening to these two talk about it is fascinating. The dynamic was interesting and it had a great flow... like wine... I assume.
really? you mention spice and don't _immediately_ jump to Gewürztraminer? it's in the bloody name!
If they make another adaptation of the next dune book they should bring him back as a new character. It would be a great callback for fans of the 84 movie
I’m sad we didn’t hear about what Wine Riley’s dad would be. Probably a can of beer.
FATHER! Father... *THE SLEEPER HAS AWAKENED*
Kyle Maclachlan is a national treasure.
He's not a bad Executive Assistant in Fallout. 😁
"Wanna play a game?" ::crazy cut:: "yes!" What the heck was that??
We all know Jeff drinks Heineken.
%$£@ Heineken. Pabst Blue Ribbon!
🤣@@WMSMr
I don't drink wine, I don't like wine, yet most of my work has been related to wines 😄
They should've also let him taste some coffee in between 😋
Dale Cooper would drink coffee...a Damn fine cup of coffee
Дэйвид Линч и Фрост обязаны изготовить 4 й сезон Двух Вершин .😊
I loved him as Paul in the original dune ❤
