Cub Cadet XT1 LT50 Inch Lawn Tractor: One Year Review

- Опубліковано 4 жов 2019
- This time at the Quick Speed Shop I'm doing a one year follow up review on my Cub Cadet XT1 LT 50 Inch, Kohler 24 hp lawn tractor. I've mowed all year with it and I'll tell you how it performed and what I like, what I don't like, and any issues that I have had.
Please like, share, and subscribe. I put out new videos every Wednesday and Saturday.

Nice video! It's a 3 gallon gas tank. I bought the XT1 with the 18 hp Kohler and a 42" mowing deck. I originally bought the tractor last February to plow snow with a 46" blade. No issues with mine but tire chains are a must for plowing. Mowing I was pleasantly surprised, I mow 2 - 1/2 properties. What I call half a property I mow the outer perimeter of my neighbors yard across the street. My yard and my nieces yard next door is hilly with lots of obstacles that's why I opted for the 42" deck. Tip....I drilled a small hole at the end of the grass chute to hook a bungee cord which allows me to mow close on that side when I lift it up. Also that allows me more room to park it in my "barn" a 10'x10' Shelter Logic.
Thank you for this great video!
We have an older LT-1050 with about 600 hrs. on it ... she's a bit tired with a bit of slack , but still cuts and runs great ... I am a Mower & ATV mechanic so I stay on top of maintenance etc . I Run Castrol or Valvoline 10W-30 & STP oil filters in mine , with nary an issue !! 👍😉
I cut the lower branches off so I can mow right next to the trunk of the trees. I have the 2020 XT1 42". It's really a great machine. Mine came with the engine designed by Cub Cadet. It is also noisy. I wear ear plugs with hearing protection earmuffs. I also use goggles to protect my eyes from flying debris. First mowing in wind , a really small piece of rock blew into my right eye. I tried several days to get it out. I had to have an eye doctor remove it. That is when I started wearing the goggles. Safety glasses did not stop the piece of rock getting into my eye.
Thank you! We are looking for a mower for our 3 acres.
BAM! There's your review. That's a nice machine. I think that feature of allowing you to back up and cut is great. My mower also requires wearing hearing muffs. Smart move!
Being able to mow in reverse is a must!
@@QuickSpeedShop I agree.
thanks... thinking about it
Nice review and mower. I’m looking at the XT2 for more features. Plus, some of the XT2s do not have the problematic K46 transmissions.
nice hat. i live where Genny is made and remember smelling them brewing it when we'd drive by the plant.
I drink a Genny Light everyday. It keeps you young!
Salesman told me to use the garden hose attachment to clean the deck after each mowing, after the bearings have cooled down, and that way the deck will always be clean and last longer and function better.
Picked one up Friday from tractor supply with the 50”fab deck. Got just under a hour on it so far and like it a lot. Would recommend 👍👍
any updates, looking to get one in spring w/ the fab deck
@@bkbaltes92 still going strong and would still recommend. Out mows my expectations.
Mine is getting delivered in two weeks!!!
I cut the lower branches off my trees so I can walk under them without hitting my head. It makes it easy to mow next to the trunk of the trees.
Awesome 😊 love that tractor I got the lt46 inch one and I love it
Best thing I ever bought.
@@QuickSpeedShop there like bulldozers there very powerful... I love it
I would love if you have videos on how to do maintenance on the mower. We are newbies to riding lawnmowers and no NOTHING about taking care of them etc...
I might make one this year when I put the tractor away with the oil change and winterization.
1. I cut off all lower branches of my trees so I can walk under them and not hit my head or cap I am wearing. I can now mow right up to the trunk of the tree.
2. I cut from the outside edge of the yard all the way around the yard mowing continuously in circles toward the center of the year. I start the mowing with my grass dischage aimed away from the house. When the mower is throwing grass toward the house, I am never closer than 20' from the house.
3. Make sure the ground has dried out enough not to form ruts in the ground. This only applies to riding mowers. Push/power walk mowers are light enough to mow over damp soil.
My wife made me get a bagger because she's always pissed when I blow the grass into the flower beds. I'd rather just mulch it but it does look cleaner when you bag it.
Might try lowering the rpms to reduce noise and the ejection blast of the cut grass.
Bought mine from tractor supply...$1,640...great deal great mower...and mine has the fabricated deck.
Pretty bad ass deal!
I'm paying $2,199 😖
I bought mine for $2,599… inflation!!
$2,899 now 😢
@@codypowell2397currently $2799 at my local TSC
You should be able to get blades with less lift on them so they don't throw the grass as far. I think factory blades have a lot lift so that they can be used with baggers.
Picked mine up yesterday. Question for you. Underneath on the left hand side, can you see the belt that goes to the engine? I was surprised there was not some kind of a protective shroud there. Otherwise I love it.
No cover for the drive belt, but most lawn tractors are built that way.
I might get one of these tomorrow from Tractor Supply. Priced at $2,199
I can't wait!
Just bought mine yesterday from there for the same price. They also offered 0% financing for a year on their card 👍. Wanted the 46 but the 50 was all they had. Can’t wait to try it tomorrow to finish cutting where my Craftsman left off when the engine let loose.
@@stevehorvat69 This machine is amazingly powerful. I bought the 50". Have mowed the lawn twice. I wish I could park it next to my bed.
Its closer to 3k now.
Thanks for the video. Out of curiosity, any idea what the actual deck width is, both chute up and down? Home Depot lists 57” overall width and that might be tight in a 60” shed door.
It's about 57" or so with the shoot up I would guess. I'd go measure one at TSC. Mine is buried away right now.
@@QuickSpeedShop thanks, good idea!
Bought mine new, used it for 100 hours now wont move. Tried everything from cleaning the frame around the pedals to fiddli g with the release......cant get it to move makes a loud hydraulic sound like its out of fluid, any ideas?
I'm not sure what would be wrong with it. Either the drive belt from the engine to the transaxle is not right or the transaxle has something wrong with it.
Thank you for doing a very informative video. I'm in the market for the same mower. Could I load it on a 5x8' trailer without removing the deck?
The deck is about 54 inches wide if you flip up the shoot so I would think that you could.
Thank you very much.
@@markthane8152 51in with the discharge flap up! I just measured it to make sure it fits in my shed. 🇺🇸
The fuel amount it actually 3.3 US Gallons.
Damn, wish I could find it that cheap....have not seen one anywhere near that price. I'm looking at an xt1 50 with fab deck and its 2,099.00. 🤔
@@lukeseidlich2827 I just bought a Gravely zt xl42....best decision I've made
Bought mine yesterday for $2099
It's worth it.
2300 out here in Texas
My new Cub Cadet drives like a tank ! I should have bought another John Deere !
For the tight areas and throwing grass, you can get the mulching blades and mulching plug shown here: ua-cam.com/video/zoo7r7tu-6U/v-deo.html
For Real
Can we add bagger attachment to this ??
I think there is an option. Check with Cub Cadet.
In two years at 300 hours my tractor is great but, the deck just it not adequate it began to crack at the spindle bolt holes. I mow about 6acres every week. Again the tractor is excellent the deck is just to flimsy for mowing in the sticks. I am having trouble finding a replacement deck.
Help me find one.
Your best bet would be the Cub Cadet dealer. If you mow that much you'd be further ahead to invest in a a commercial mower with fabricated deck.
@@QuickSpeedShop ,
Thank you for the information, I’ve been checking on fabricated decks since you posted and It seems to be the best solution.
Thanks again ,
Might want to check EBay.
You paid $1,400.00? Where? I bought one yesterday for $2,199.00 Tracker Supply. Took it home, mowed my 1 acre and love it! It is a bit loud, but I always use my PPE anyway.
I got it on sale almost 2 years ago at TSC.
@@QuickSpeedShop two years ago, 😂. You act like you just got it.
I did just get it in the video, but it was published in 2019, two years ago.
Just bought one for 2800. It over 3 with the cover and taxes. Its been going up and up
I’m having a problem with mine the blades are hitting the ground after I changed the blades on them the blades are right size they’re on right the deck wheels are on right blades run fine untile I lower to 2” then smack
No idea why that would happen. I'd say check to see that the blades aren't on upside down, but you say they are on right so don't know what the problem would be.
Well da! Your scraping the ground
I feel if the louder the mower is, the more powerful it is. AND, it make you feel like you have the neighborhood's best mower! Yes, people show off their mowers.
My neighbor thinks he has the best mower in the neighborhood with one of these XT1's. He doesn't like to see my Hustler Fastrak SD coming though.

Is the wagoner for sale?
No. Its a Cherokee Chief.
Home DEpot has that same Tractor but with the Fabricated deck, 24 hp Kohler, it retails for $2099.00, I think he is mistaken on that $1400.00 price, unless he bought it from Bubba next door:)
The on with the fab deck is alot different. The transmission is completely different.
In 2024 they are closer to 3k. Mine was 2799 on sale.
@@freegeorgia4808just bought one , 5-12-24. 2,645.99. Tractor Supply. 48 months 0%. I rarely do that but free money. Mine is the 50” fab deck.
Purchased same one at tractor supply, first day ran like a dream, second day would not engage in drive or reverse.
Take it back. The warranty is longer than 1 day.
Take it back!
Oh buddy I've had mine about 2-3 years now and on avg. I cut 2-4 acres and I live in the country and partly wooded. Let's just say it gets abused and she still runs like a champ. No problems whatsoever. Still doesn't consume oil. I have changed the spindles just because and the blades obviously but the belt is still original. Also the fuel economy on this thing is superior to anything I've ever owned. I can cut 3 acres on around half a tank
Good to hear. I try to take care of mine because its one of the most expensive things I have ever bought. No complaints here with mine either, its worked great. I just changed the oil and put it away for the winter, but it should be ready to rock and roll in the spring.
@@QuickSpeedShop oh I take good care of her, and I don't think you meant I didn't. That's not to say I don't put her through hell. She just takes it like a champ. My only complaint and I'm not entirely sure if it was my fault or from the factory like that but the left side deck control arm where you remove the pin to remove the deck, that bar has been bent forever and makes it hard to remove the pin but hasn't affected the cutting with the deck
@@QuickSpeedShop I was just looking for a deck adjustment video and saw this and thought I'd post an update. 157.5 hours still no problems and still on the original deck belt
Current price for this is 2649.00
Thank you Bidenomics!
Does it have fast attach blades
That might be an option, but mine doesn't have them.
Don't ever get them blades are super thin and cost 100 dollars for a set only available from cub cadet. That's what I got I'm looking for a fab deck without them so i can replace spindles and blades.
Bought mine yesterday, blades stop every time you move on the seat or hit a bump,, Solution, a pistol in both back pockets,, problem solved
Does anyone know what the “LT” means
I would assume Lawn Tractor.
Lemon Turd
Lawn/Turf??
@@ericpigg2689 this isn't a John Deere, wrong video.
@@mytruthslays1303 I would take a broken John Deere over a new Cub Cadet, and I do not like John Deere.
you need to wear ear protection with any mower you use anyway.
I find it hilarious (and not surprising) that the comments on this video are almost all positive, but the cry baby haters showed up to complain in the first one.
I have no complaints after 2 years and 40 hrs worth of use
The only REASON I've never but a cub cadet is the motor. Why cant they just put a trusted name brand engine in the mower ?
What do you mean? It has a Kohler engine. Kohler has been powering lawn tractors since 1948.
😮mine throws belt done twice not worth price
Never had that problem with mine. Used it several seasons now, no problems.
Any issues after 3 yr..I have a 2019 same model on the hook with 85 hours for 1500
No issues. I only have 40 some hrs on it as my lawn isn't that big.
Still own your XT1 ?
Yes
@QuickSpeedShop nice, mine is 4 years old now and still running strong. Just a little over 70 hours on it. I change the oil, filters and blades every year.
Mine too. 67 hrs, new oil, ready to mow
@@QuickSpeedShop got another question for you. Have you had to replace your drive belt yet? I just recently found out it had one.
