    I've been living with this since 2005. And that's all it took. Now to go find every single person who thumbs downed this video. I'm crying tears of happiness and relief

    OH MY GOD I COULD HUG YOU. In our Outback 2012 I had to do the process twice for it to stick and be permanent, but I cannot tell you the amount of yelling and screaming this change will prevent. This infernal beeping even if you are just moving the car around the yard is a neverending source of frustration for my wife and I. Thank you for this.

      Seriously, like it’s very sweet that the car is so concerned for my well being….but it can really piss off with the nonstop forklift alarm 🚨 lol

    You can hold down the release button with one hand, and just push the buckle in 20 times. As long as the buckle goes all the way down. The red button is not where the electric switch is. The switch is pushed open by the buckle tongue.

    After viewing your video, three times I tried disarming the alarm by starting the car and engaging/disengaging the seat belt 20 times with 30 seconds. It didn't work! Then I decided to read some comments from others who did the same thing. That's when I read to turn the key to the ON position rather than starting the engine. It finally worked with my 2005 Subaru Outback.

      weird ernie i had the exact opposite problem with my 07 forester. i had the key in aux mode and it never worked. not till i started the car, did the 20 clicks, turned it off and pulled the key.

    ~ CUTOFF FUNCTION ~
    The warning given after 6 seconds since the ignition switch is turned ON, and the warning function that activates when the seat belt is unfastened while driving can be optionally cut off. The cutoff function is common for both the driver’s seat and passenger’s seat, and can be set with the driver’s seat buckle switch.
    Temporary (TEMP) cutoff
    1) How to cut: Repeat fastening and unfastening the driver’s seat belt for 3 times within 6 seconds after turning the ignition switch ON. (The setting is changed for both the driver’s seat and passenger’s seat.)
    2) Setting lasts: While the ignition switch is turned ON until it is turned OFF. (The cutoff function is canceled when the ignition switch is once turned OFF.)
    ~ Permanent cutoff ~
    1) How to cut: Repeat fastening and unfastening the driver’s seat belt for 20 times within 30 seconds after turning the ignition switch ON. Enabling and disabling cutting is done with the same operation.
    (The setting is changed for both the driver’s seat and passenger’s seat.)
    2) Setting lasts: Until the microprocessor is reset*.
    The cutoff function is reset when the battery is removed (battery positive terminal disconnected) or when the body integrated unit is removed. The cutting function may also be reset when the engine is cranked with low battery voltage. Your dealer can also reengage it.

      I do not see any 2013 kin in the comments. I have tried and tried and tried. 2013 Legacy. I don't know if it's a large variety of sub models, but it has the new transmission. Continuously variable transmission? Somebody called it a rubber band transmission? My dad, who has been rebuilding transmissions for the better part of forty years, told me to f-off transmission? I'm not sure it would make a difference but either I'm special in my brain when it comes to putting these steps to work. Or for some reason my particular year make and model ain't having it

      Justin Bowers I think I did exactly as the video shows except I didn't actually start the ignition before the 20 clicks. I just turned the key enough for the chimes to start. Took me a few tries.

      There are two ways to do it. 1. Start the car and click the seat belt in and out 20 times in 30 secs of turning the ignition switch, then turn key off and remove key, wait a few seconds insert key and start the car. (Same as in video) 2. Just turn the ignition switch to the "ON" position ( don't start car) and click the seat belt in and out 20 times in 30 secs of turning the ignition switch, then turn key off and remove key, wait a few seconds insert key and start the car. Maybe have someone run a timer and see if you get the clicks within the 30 seconds.

  • @GirlFriday916
    @GirlFriday916 2 роки тому +1

    Ok I DID WORK… however the timing is crucial, you have to do & undo belt 20x in UNDER 30 seconds or start over.

Trick is to pull the seatbelt completely out of the socket, not partially, decently quick within 30sec, then pull the key completely out. Thank you so much for adding those comments! I tried it twice without doing it exactly the way that you described, and it did nothing. Then third times a charm, I pulled the seatbelt buckle outs all the way each time and then pulled the key out of the ignition completely after I was done. And the sound, the evil sound is finally gone! By the way I always wear my seatbelt, I just don’t like to be hounded by that noise incessantly when I’m a half second from doing it anyway. Plus I do Ubereats which involves lots of jumping in and out of the car. Thanks a million to you both!!!!

    Thank you so much man - I get out of the car a lot very short stops where I really don't need a seat-belt in between to maintain upmost safety; especially if wearing a thick winter coat. And honestly it's my preference to be beeped at as little as possible... especially unpleasant beeps!

    • @d0rkiishchris
      @d0rkiishchris 6 років тому

      Yes it worked. It has always been so annoying in this car. It even gets louder as you continue on. I have no intention of not wearing my restraint, but just moving the car or repositioning it when you're going to get out in two seconds or when you're at a light and need to reach for something it is super annoying. So I disabled it with this method on a stock 2017 impreza 2.0i. Basically the latest N/A impreza and this method certainly works. Tried it with the engine off but ignition on and that does not work. Get in, shut the door, start the engine and immediately go to town. 20 inserts and removals in 30 seconds is what it takes. And you have to do it fast, I timed myself and it took about 22 seconds. Be sure to undo the seatbelt and turn off the car completely. Open the door because the computer still runs even with the key out on the new models. Until you open the door the radio system will still operate. Close the door, start the engine and if the seatbelt light is off when you haven't done up your seatbelt, it worked.

    Worked great on 2016 Impreza. I didn't test Cruise Control because I never use it anyway. Steps 1): turn key to Accessories position 2) then immediately insert and pop out the seat belt 20 times quickly 3) quickly turn key off and remove it 4) wait 30 seconds 5) start car; chime should sound about 6 times then stop. Done!

    Worked on my 08 Outback 2.5 XT Limited. But I did it with the car off and the key in the run position. the chime would sound even when the seat belt was buckled, but now it's quiet! Thanks for the fix!

    IT WORKED! On our 2015 Forester. Thank you so much for this. Sometimes my wife has to unbuckle to turn around and get something for our child in the back, and the chime drives us both insane.

    Just did this on my 2014 Outback. I always wear my seatbelt but sometimes I have a dog in the passenger seat or enough stuff piled on it that it triggers the chime. Drove me insane. So happy to not have to listen to it anymore

    2014 frs/brz. Worked for me but it Has to be 2 clicks forward but I'm happy with that. Now I can chill with music and no chime in the background. Thanks a million! 😎
    Edit: took the key out and turned 2 clicks many times and seems to be permanent but still ok with that.

  • @kevinsteburg2169

    Successful on a 2017 WRX. FYI, the buckle does not need to click locked. You can hold the button and rapidly insert and release the buckle 20 times. Plenty of time to accomplish 20 inserts in 30 seconds.
