The pace at which we're innovating is high because we can create machines to do our tasks, and we have energy sources to run those machines. Many are reminiscent of what a sociologist named Max Weber discussed with his analysis on Bureaucracies, and the potential implications of endless bureaucratic development even past the point of necessity. Weber studied Marx's work, and much of his own work was an expansion on Marx's concepts. I wouldn't say all of what the guy is talking about in the video is Marxist, and he doesn't even mentioned bureaucracies directly, but that lines up with what the original commenter said. This is simply "some" of the basics.

These are all socialist ideas, a lot of people have actually thought this. I’ve thought about the same things he’s said for a long time. But yeah I think a lot of ppl are coming to this realization that eventually there will come a point where we don’t need competition anymore and we will have to transition to an economy for all. Marx, Engels and all these socialist thinkers were a little too early to the party and too ahead of their time. They predicted what would happen eventually but they didn’t take into account that it would take another 100 years for technology to catch up to those predictions.
Kids like this give me faith in the future switched on articulate envisioning better ways. The more people do this the more things go in the right direction!

I halfway agree. The endless consumption has actually stunted our innovation. Instead of solving more difficult problems, we simply incrementally improve pointless stuff. But its the production of this that distracts from solving other problems with innovation.

i need his opinion on how life is now. we have gone even deeper into a mess of a society and I really would benefit from hearing his summary of how things have gone. Noticing the supplements in the background, and in the drawers behind him, I assume he was going through a really tough period. I just can't believe someone could be able to speak on such tough subjects so clearly. Everytime I even try to put into words how our planet has gone horrible lately it doesn't sound right, but he is amazing. I'm not a religous man, but lord I hope he comes back.

Many are reminiscent of what a sociologist named Max Weber discussed with his analysis on Bureaucracies, and the potential implications of endless bureaucratic development even past the point of necessity. Weber studied Marx's work, and much of his own work was an expansion on Marx's concepts. I wouldn't say all of what the guy is talking about in the video is Marxist, and he doesn't even mentioned bureaucracies directly, but that lines up with what the original commenter said. This is simply "some" of the basics.

Italy famously functioned this way in the 1930s. So I am certainly open to capitalism evolving into a more benevolent version that HatGuy is describing.

These are all socialist ideas, a lot of people have actually thought this. I’ve thought about the same things he’s said for a long time. Granted he was probably a lot younger than me when he realized all this. But yeah I think a lot of ppl are coming to this realization that eventually there will come a point where we don’t need competition anymore and we will have to transition to an economy for all. Marx, Engels and all these socialist thinkers were a little too early to the party and too ahead of their time. They predicted what would happen eventually but they didn’t take into account that it would take another 100 years for technology to catch up to those predictions.
