And the plans are finally ready:

I got the bandsaw sawmill blade from sawblade.com
This is a truly impressive bandsaw Matthias. It isn't just bigger by a couple inches, it gets better with each incarnation. I started building my 16" almost 2 years ago, got frustrated and stalled on the frame glue up and life got in the way. I could have founded the Procrastinators Club of America with all my good intentions of finishing it and I was wanting to get back to it for a long time. But I offer this as a testimonial today, I got going on it again and I am making great progress. I studied the plans for a couple hours and read every word again. I had a few epiphanies along the way and I think I went from "following directions" to "understanding the bandsaw". Thanks again for sharing all your great woodworking videos and tools on UA-cam. It is fantastic to see and a true inspiration to many like me.
Did you ever finish it?
I think what you did there, helping that chap with his wood company, was really nice of you. Symbiotic and all that.
I am always amazed by your work. My cheap 9" bandsaw just bit the dust. You have inspired me to think of building my own.
On this Channel, I am often very impressed with the ingenuity and resourcefulness that I see here. This video is no exeption, Love your work Matthias.
That dryer door... You have just vindicated every packrat who has ever said, "This may come in handy one day..."
Haha - I would definitely be included in that group!
I drive my wife crazy when I say that.

Nice job. It must give you immense satisfaction using a functional, properly working tool that you have made yourself.
Yay plans! When I finally get my woodshop out of storage I'll be using my crappy Craftsman bandsaw to build this fine machine. Thanks as always Matthias.
I just turned 25. I've been watching your stuff since I was 12 years old, it started with the lego marble machines. I'm also a pianist, and love the wooden organ you made.
I think $24 for the plans are a good price. Nice work Matthias! Keep it up! :D
Basically_I_Do hmmmm dont know... I wont buy them, because I will never make it xD but perhaps its a good bargain.
most people that buy the plans, probably don't get time to actually make it
I bought the plans for the first band saw a few years ago, they are worth it just to look at actually, but yeah it will never get built - the materials needed are just not available here in Australia (at least at any sort of reasonable price).
what you cannot buy wood in Australia ?
marble head
Seriously no, it has been locked to the price of gold.
step one of the plans: find a scrapped top loading clothes dryer and salvage the door...
That's another great build, Matthias.
There are top loading washers but I have never seen a top loading dryer.
step two, proofread my comments before posting so I don't make stupid mistakes. "top loading" ... sigh.

peggyt1243 it took literally 2 seconds to go to Google and find one
+Enchanter Tim Hey smart alec, that's a top loading WASHER, still not a dryer. Here's a top loading DRYER. www.lowes.com/pd/Fisher-Paykel-6-2-cu-ft-Top-Load-Electric-Dryer-White/3259954?cm_mmc=search_google-_-FY15%20Appliances-_-Dsa%20Major%20Appliances-_-_cat%3Adryers%2Felectric%20dryers&k_clickID=84ef7386-d24f-4492-b8d1-e193c760000a
Wow Matthias, what a great project to build. Even my wife has enjoyed watching the videos.
I didn't think much of the machine given the materials but the results speak for themselves. Well done, sir.
Great work, Matthias. Breathtaking amount of details in the plans.
I'm taking down a walnut this year, and a few other trees. I already have a large walnut branch that has been down 3 years, and a cedar log that has been down longer. I'm looking forward to building a setup like this. Perhaps not as detailed as anything you've made. But definitely something that can make flat pieces out of round logs. I have an alaskan mill but I don't like wasting wood with it. I prefer cutting wood down to 12/4 or larger and putting slabs up in the shed to forget about. But if I build something like this.. or your horizontal mill.. oh buddy.
Thanks for being an inspiration. I'm going to buy plans from you one of these days just to show my support. You have more than earned all the good things that are coming your way. Keep up the good work!
I bought your bandsaw 2 plans and haven't had a chance to built it yet...now i'm going to buy this one and build this instead! Always love the bandsaw series!
I could swear I read that the plans wouldn't be available until February, so this was a pretty pleasant surprise. Super keen to build one of these bad boys!
Nice! I am definitely buying these plans. I've got a lot of oak I'd like to resaw from my land and this bad boy is perfect. Thanks!
I love old broken washers and dryers.. especially dryers. They are so useful for so many projects. I've already planned what I'm going to do with the next dryer I find.. It's going to be a compost sifter! Which still leaves the tin useful for so many projects. You can do just about anything if you buy/build a metal brake, roller, and other various powered and hand tools.
Holy crap I love this. Especially the "reclaimed" table top and urban log. So exciting.
Well done Matthias, i appreciate your youtube presence.
Another piece of woodworking art..keep up with this amazing work.
You're work is, simply put, Amazing. You're like a small wooden equipment manufacturing plant. Great job.
Now this is getting you as close as possible (with wood) to the big massive old bandsaws made from cast iron. But a lot easier to adjust.
and MUCH easier to move.
Lover your cast iron monster bandsaw, but I wouldn't want to own one like that.
True. It's annoying when you can't move it an inch. Sorry: cm.
That log looked like butter, awesome blade performance.
I can't wait until I finally get to work on my shop, always wanted a resaw bandsaw
I wanna see you make a wooden switch for this just for the aesthetic appeal
yeah that "wood" be really cool : ) in a dark walnut or something naturally darker than the rest..
Wow that is one intense bandsaw blade!!
What a great construction! I'm looking forward to built the same one. Thanks for the plans!
Greetings from South Germany
Well done Matthias ! Another well thought out and built machine
Looks like someone got some nice new Dewalt cordless power tools for Christmas! Happy days....😁
I think it’s funny that it says “made in the USA” in the impact driver, and in the USA, that’s a good thing, but this is in Canada.😂😂😂 too bad nothing ever says “made in canada”😢
@@jacobgraff4667 I have a nice bottle of pure maple syrup in my kitchen that says "Made in Canada".
@@matchstickdesignco Maple syrup. One of Canada's only true exports. There was some big scandal a while back involving a big maple syrup heist worth millions of dollars. It was a pretty big deal I guess. Living down here in the states it all sounds kind of funny though. Maple syrup. Go figure. I will admit pancakes sure are a lot better with true maple syrup on them as opposed to that sugar imitation.
WOW, that dryer door worked out GREAT! nice!
What's that Honey? No, I do not know where our dryer door went!
david tallman 😹
Mirci
To say that you are amazing is an understatement.
Look at that bandsaw, what a beauty.
Many thanks for the plans and your crazyness! It will be a lot of fun to build this bandsaw...
Like your new Dewalt Brushless drill and impact driver. Just bought my own and they're awesome!
Matthias once again a very good job
I bought a makita multitool and it lasted about five minutes over two jobs separated by a few weeks. Got a refund, but kept finding a need for another, so I got a cheapy for £20 and while its noisier and vibrates more, its still going after years of abuse! funny how some things work out. This is an epic bandsaw build man..
"This is a door from a drier that I saved..."
Oh please, Matthias, never change!
Looking forward to the first sawmill misadventure video when the snow is gone!
Another great build! I really like how you use common stuff most of us throw away for parts in your projects. I don't see anything wrong with the way you wired it and used the metal box and light switch. I think I would have done the same. You are amazing in your designs and builds.
Super machine now to provide themselves with wood)))
Thank you Matthias, I looked forward for the plans for a long while!
Looks great. Have waiting for the plans.
Congratulation on being in a popular mechanics article
Awesome saw and beautiful wood
good to see you using some proper sized drills
Make sure you include the model and part number for that dryer door in your plans :)
great job. when I get my new shop in the spring I will be building some tools to fill it using you as some inspiration
You will hear loggers talk about how the trees "open up". That's comparing the sawn lumber with how the log looked on the live tree. It's always exciting for me to go pick up a load of lumber my friend milled for me to see how my logs opened up. You can be either pleasantly surprised or disappointed. If I may make a suggestion, when you do some sawing of logs (and I suspect you will be doing a bunch of it in the months to come!) perhaps you could let the camera linger on the fresh boards so we may see how your log opened up. You get only a little bit of that here. That walnut looks like it was either steamed to bleed some of the pigment into the sapwood, or it might have been laying outside for a while. (Didn't know walnut grew that far north!)
I imagine it's been laying outside for a while. The sapwood does look kind of funny
Good cuts, good machine!
Dewalt (?), Canadian Woodworks, SawBlade. Loads of plugs in this one, fair play to you mate, you deserve the money.
Just trying to help some friends. No money changed hands for any of these.
Beautiful saw. Hope it lasts a while! Now build a blade sharpener!
What's the new big project? Are you going to start building things with the equipment you've built? I figured that would the greatest satisfaction, though design and specification for successful builds probably has to be up there too.
Currentlly assembling materials for one of these Wandel Wonders. I intended to have a 12 " throat height anyway but I'm trying for a 24" width. I do a lot of plywood work and want to be able to rip to the center of a full sheet. Also I want to make the spine a lot heavier because I want to be able to slow the machine down to work metal as well as wood. My shop is so small and my resources such that I can only afford one band saw and it has to do about everything.
Grinding over a box of scrap wood is the best I`ve ever seen o_0
Well Matthias your videos are always great and i watch hundreds of You Tube videos and i really get a lot of knowledge out of your videos so thank you very much. Your daughter is very cute too is Harriot gonna learn how to use all these tools someday too ? : ), its nice you have your family in some of the videos thanks for such great teaching too, thanks to you i am going to try and build this bandsaw soon. Have a wonderful Holiday season with your family . Your much appreciated for sharing your ideas and builds.
wow.... that is some blade! talk about serious bandsawing!
Have you seen topics involving Van-life? It is people living in their car/vans. I think it would be interesting to see your take on it. I like Dreamsideout's take on it due to its practicality. I would like to do something similar one day simply to bring my own hotel/motel wherever I go.
I wish I had the space to build a big bandsaw. good job.
You could add a nice wooden "box" around at least the front switch box to make it blend in and look nice!
Great work as always Sir!
thanks
Now you can just call it Matthais' Maytag or Wandel's Whirlpool! Love the repurposed dryer door!
The DeWalt drill and driver was an unexpected surprise
ONE SWEET JOB!!! WORKS LIKE A CHARM!!!!
man, that bandsaw is a beast!
Sweet! Are you going to make a video about them?
best woodwork bloke in all of canada
Nice saw! Well done on the series!! It makes me want to build my own.
Your channels growing nicely Matthias
I like the rationale that the resaw height only needs to match your jointer width.
My 8 year old engineering son loves your videos. He wanted to know what motor you ended up using in this bandsaw.
Helal olsun sana. Akilli ve becerikli bir insana benziyorsun. Keske bende senin gibi yetenekli olsaydim. Nasib degilmis.
Are you going to make something nice with the sawn log 'planks', Matthias?
Hey Matthias, awesome project as usual. Just a note on your webpage. There's no link back to the main page for people to see and order other plans.
Nice work Matthias!
Its still a pleasure to watch and follow your videos, keep it up :)
congrats on 900k keep up the good work
Master Matthias!
awesome, I really enjoy watching these videos and it has inspired me to build similar equipment
awesome, liked the dryer door top.
Given the wheel size and the blade capacity here, have you considered a riser block mod to increase your milling capacity? Kits are available on a 16" powermatic or grizzly but would seem challenging with your laminated post design... though it would be a really cool follow-up. Love the build.
If I wanted more resaw capacity, I would have built it with more resaw capacity
bout time for some green paint!
Dam am not a wood worker but seen ur video from the start to finish. smart man.
Me agrada mucho ver tus pruebas y errores ...gracias por compartir
I'd love to see a segment on wood grain and how you choose to saw those logs up.
Or are you just going for raw lumber without worring about grain direction on the resultant lumber?
Here's an idea that may improve the safety of your saw as you cut logs, as well as maybe improve the straightness of the cuts. And it may be a fun project.. Build a winch and mount it to the wall that would pull the log through the saw, and all you have to do is guide it. Maybe use a cheap fan motor and some wood gears, and make it controllable with a foot switch.
Matthias, you inspire me man!
Wow that's a huge blade!!
Speechless, just speechless.
That sawblade.com ad placement.... clever!
great work Matthias , greets from slovakia :) i watch your videos everytime :D
It's only just occurred to me how thick that blade is!
I was just thinking how beefy that thing is.
Show de bola. Aqui do Brasil. ..
Parabéns.
Excelente trabalho.
Congratulation ! awesome work and awesome build !
Looks great! A few questions... If you recessed the switch into the frame, how much of a structural issue would that be? And in your next video could you show us how flat the cut is. Thanks 0wl
Wow! wath machine ! very good, Mathías
Just out of curiosity, did DeWalt sponsor a this video? Use their tools to make your own tools! That's awesome.
How do you think of some of this stuff? I'm impressed. Very nice work.
Resewing 13 inch walnut log with 2 inch (or so?) resaw blade with 3/4 hp motor at a smooth rate- any binding or twisting at all? That's a great test and it still sounds like you're mulling at least another ultimate test for this design?
Wow, Matthias, that saw cuts like a dream! Very impressive! I like how you cannibalize scraps and use things like the dryer door. By the way, have you seen this Russian guy Victor on youtube? He has this home made duplication machine that looks like something you might have come up with. He is really talented, but kind of hard to understand for me.
Matthias, now that you have the oscillating tool, you'll find that you will be using it more than you expected.
not trying to sound rude to commenters but why do people feel the need to say what they would do different its not like he posted a video and asked how would you do this differently. he made a video showing us a project and how he did it it works its what he wants obviously so whats the deal. Sorry i rarely comment but i always read comments about how someone could have done it better instead of just enjoying the content
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Law_of_triviality
i read your comment and i think you made a good point, but you could have explained it better by saying that he... oh wait.....hmmmmm
its nice seeing you use those dewalt drills!! love love love your work man!
