JTS2 Ep 11: Making a pass at Sani - exploring the Underberg and tackling Sani Pass

- It was good to have some down time in Nottingham Road - again - and we used this time to sort out admin like getting the dogs checked and their pawsports stamped by the State Vet in Pietermaritzburg.
We had made the decision to head for the Mountain Kingdom of Lesotho, routing through the famous Sani Pass. But as has now become the norm this season, things didn't quite go to plan and ours got unhitched outside Himeville.
With a forced overnight in Underberg - not the worst place in the world to find yourself stranded - we made a second attempt at Sani Pass and Lesotho.

I really enjoyed this episode. Lesotho is my absolute favourite place on earth.
Marius, I was stationed at Sani Pass, June 1984 to June '88, new basically everybody, Mr Watson, I bought my first horse from him, young bull calves, sheep and pigs for meat, Dennis May, his brother and mother, Mike clarke from Moghotlong transport and Ha Maghagi trade post Ann and everybody, taught me so much of live. Thank you
Regards
Stephan

Spot on Mr. M! 🙌🏼
Thanks Johannes - sorry for the long wait on this one!
Trips got to include GOOD COFFEE ~ lovely stuff as always Marius ~ thanks
Thanks Karen and thank you for all the support and kind words...
Another magic episode…Sani Pass is still on my bucket list 😁
Thanks Justin…it really is spectacular and pretty intense! Can only imagine in snow or rain
I like the theme song 🎉😂
So cool hey! We bumped into Cornelius in Mooi River on a coffee stop - got chatting and he offered to write us a song (check Episode 6) and this is the result - amazing and I love the fact that its local and unique to us!
Another bucket list ticked off. Isnt it great when things go Unplanned. Nice camping spot. Looking forward to next 1.
This trip has certainly taught us to just go with the flow...
Old Hatchery was a gem of a find thanks to Rod - its his mates place - and they have only just started adding camping to their offering. Perfect launch pad to explore the area...
Great content Marius ...I am.hooked
Such an awesome message! Thank you Patrick...
Good to see you back on the road yes Gods country
Lovely video with stunning scenery. That Underberg area is beautiful. Been up & down Sani Pass with bike on same day and had lunch up top. It's a gem of SA but fortunately not as swamped by tourists like Venice or Kilimanjaro (even Mt Everest). Please hurry with the next one. 🥺🙏
Thanks so much Sean!!! Be awesome for us to share some gravel together some time...
I am super committed to spending more time in Lesotho - love the country and the people!
@MariusRobertsProductions I've been to Lesotho a few times as medic for enduros but then it's a tight schedule. I need to go back with my Everest 4x4 (or bike) with no pressure on the itinerary - like you guys. 😎
nice one thanks guys
Thank you!!!
Why does the bad luck keep on following you Marius???
I know why!!! You are travelling without me 😂😅
But you carry on and joke about it. That's the spirit. Keep it going to new places we want to see
Haha maybe that's why! That's life in general - it doesn't always go as planned - so the only choice you have is to go with it or be grumpy about it! We go with it....
Awesome video Marius. Always enjoy watching the channel…It is very special getting to the top and feel slightly accomplished. We did Sani Pass in March 2024…
Next time buy beer from the little blue, white and green shed as u come in toward the lodge. They sell the Maluti beer for half the price🫣. Supporting local is Lekker 😜
100% and now that I have done it, would love to tackle it in winter in some snow! I know the spot you talking about - have great shots of their 'free beer only joking campaign' but being the 1st time we had to do the tourist thing. As you will see in the next episode, support local is very much our vibe!
Thanks for the cool message and for the support
Sani/Lesotho is a must do in winter! 👌
Great video as always, what time of the year we’re you there as beautiful
Thank so much Dean! That was mid November 2023
Very little comes to enjoying a Maluti at the highest pub in the country... Lekke boet.
Was great to get that one ticked off

Thanks Justin but we were actually on the road in November but will keep it on file for future trips
