No, I was never on K-TV! (South African joke)
Some background on me:
My career as a television presenter started way back in 1998 when I joined M-Net as a continuity announcer and have remained in front of the camera in some way, shape or form ever since.
What will you see on the channel?
My mates think my current job is the best - testing and reviewing all the latest motor cars to hit the market - I wont lie, it is pretty cool. Ignition was started back in 2008 with me as the anchor presenter and it remains South Africa's only dedicated 24/7 motoring channel with just under 3 million viewers each week. So yes, expect to see a lot of car related content on my channel!
BUT I am equally passionate about creating content - conceptualising ideas for clients and telling their story. Thats where my production company, MRP, comes into the picture so you will also get to see the work I do from a production perspective and enjoy the moments we create.
Thanks, Marius

JTS2 Ep14: The End of the Road...the final push from Lesotho to Port Elizabeth
Well this is it... we have come to the end of the road!
After 32 days on the road and one episode more than the scheduled 13, the second season of Just To See How Far It Is wraps up here!
And what a fitting way to end things than a truly unique and special wild camping experience at Schotia Safaris Private Game Lodge just outside Port Elizabeth. Thanks to Justin and the Bean family for making this possible.
We had some proper mileage to cover to get there though - leaving Semonkong, Lesotho with an overnight in Queenstown before rolling into Schotia for our final night.
Thank you to all of you for your support, for watching the series and especially for the incredible comments and messages I have received. It took us long enough to make the second season happen but for us, it was most definitely worth fighting for - what a truly incredible adventure!
I really hope you enjoy getting on the road with us one last this season...

JTS2 Ep 13: Living Lesotho Loca - our adventures from Katse to Semonkong
Переглядів 6 тис.Місяць тому
Lesotho is spectacular but traversing the Mountain Kingdom also takes time - something we are rapidly running out of! So to try eek out the most from the places we've chosen to base ourselves meant some marathon sessions in the Pajero and we were in for another - from Katse Village to Semonkong. Heeding local advice, we ended up re-routing and back tracking to Semonkong via Maseru and Roma, ins...

After the thrill of Sani Pass, it was a short drive Sani Stone Lodge. What a spectacular location, with their rondavels perched on the edge of the hilltop overlooking the valley and the river. A chat with the owner in the morning and we had permission to set up camp down at the river for what was a truly incredible wild camping experience...this is why we overland, why we adventure, is to find ...

It was good to have some down time in Nottingham Road - again - and we used this time to sort out admin like getting the dogs checked and their pawsports stamped by the State Vet in Pietermaritzburg. We had made the decision to head for the Mountain Kingdom of Lesotho, routing through the famous Sani Pass. But as has now become the norm this season, things didn't quite go to plan and ours got u...

Переглядів 3,2 тис.3 місяці тому
After 3 incredible days wild camping at Caracal Lodge in the Houtboshoek, it was time to get back on the road again - destination the Battlefields and the Blood River Heritage Site. Well, that was the plan anyway until I took a sho't left when I saw the Westoe Dam only to get us well and truly stuck in the mud! How we got out is a story in itself and forced us into yet another unscheduled stop ...

After all the drama that saw us making an unscheduled overnight stop in Bela Bela, I never thought I would start the new day going for a walk with a warthog and 2 Yorkshire terriers! Isn’t life just great and a constant dark cloud silver lining reminder…what a wonderful treat and cheer me up our short stay at Vlakkieskraal turned out to be. We were back on the road for the 400km drive to my mat...

So just how did I go about gearing up my old Mitsubishi Pajero SWB for our second season of Just To See How Far It Is? There certainly has been a lot of interest shown because old model conversions just aren't that common...so I thought a short series covering the build and the choices we went with may be helpful for those of you also wanting to head off the beaten track without breaking the ba...

After an incredible few days at Die Oog, our routing took us to yet another destination that wasn’t on our original travel plans - the Rooiberg in the Limpopo Province. And we found the perfect place - Doorndraai Lodge & Caravan Park - a privately owned game farm offering a variety of accommodation options including 5 star camping. But what really appealed to us was the recent addition of wild ...

After our major re-routing up to Pretoria to do some running repairs and the subsequent short forced break, we were stoked to be back on the road! New routing - new destinations - nothing quite like just going with the flow! And our first stop is a spot that I honestly didn't even know existed - Marico Oog - a fresh water oasis that is just so unexpected in its location. We also had some mates ...
JTS2 Ep 6: The Long Haul - trekking from Mdumbi to Pretoria

The weather really wasn't playing along and with the forecast looking bleak for the rest of the week, we had some tough decisions to make - continue our Wild Coast wanderings up to Port St Johns as planned or make a run for it up to Pretoria to get our awning repaired? With a brief respite from the rain, we made the most of the sunshine and the beautiful beach setting at Mdumbi before tackling ...

These PUBLIC SERVANTS need to approach people in a PROFESSIONAL manner if they expect respect in return .
So great to have seen that! I'm fortunate enough to have been at two TT's, and like you I need to go back again! Thank you Sir!
Thanks Mike for the message! Was fortunate enough to be back there this year but very different to last year in terms of weather - this year was typical Manx weather so lots of delays and shifting of schedules but still incredible
@@MariusRobertsProductions That’s great Marius!! Well done! I was keeping an eye on the results, and it looked like it was a good one despite the weather setbacks…and you can say you were a part of witnessing history being made as Michael Dunlop broke his Uncle Joey’s record! Awesome stuff!
Marius, I was stationed at Sani Pass, June 1984 to June '88, new basically everybody, Mr Watson, I bought my first horse from him, young bull calves, sheep and pigs for meat, Dennis May, his brother and mother, Mike clarke from Moghotlong transport and Ha Maghagi trade post Ann and everybody, taught me so much of live. Thank you Regards Stephan
I have been to most of the places mentioned - the only difference being that we were not sponsored in any way. It seems that today's travellers cannot go anywhere off the beaten track without being paid to do so.
Firstly, in relation to this video, we stayed at a mate of mines place so I certainly wasn’t ‘paid’ in any way for the story I told or the experiences I shared. But let’s move onto what is really bothering you - people being paid to overland. When you are on your trip, do you document your experiences? I often pop away for a weekend camp and that is a genuine break for me because I don’t take my gear & I am under zero pressure to film anything - I love it because its proper downtime for me. Having said that, it doesn’t mean I don’t love my 32 day epic roadtrips - they are amazing and I get to meet incredible people, share stories and hopefully inspire or encourage other people to do the same or visit the places we went. Now I would love to be absolutely loaded so that I could just travel, but I am not and that’s why I have partners who make that possible for me. In no way, shape or form do they have any influence in what I say or the story I tell - that’s a non negotiable for me. I don’t watch what other people do on UA-cam - not interested really. Broadcasting has been my career for 25 years, it’s what I do, it’s what I love - the overlanding is another extension of that! I may only be on the road for 32 days but these adventures I undertake, take up 6 months of my life - I don’t make money from this, I simply cover my hard costs while juggling my other production projects. Perhaps this will help you understand things a little differently…
well done you guys great team cant wait till next trip 😎🤓🥸
recently seen one in the underground parking lot, next to my toyota hybrid. needless to say i've started being anxious if this shit catches fire.
Epic, epic Marius!!! That Lesotho mountains... Thanks for your commitment to our extraordinary piece of heaven here at the bottom of Africa.. When is season 3?
Thanks so much Gert for the kind words and support! Really loved putting this season together - such beautiful locations and people! Season 3 will be around October again
Absolutely brilliant Marius...I enjoyed each and every moment. If you ever need a BIG BROTHER to journey with you just to see how far it is, give me a shout. My LWB Pajero is chomping at the bit😂
Thanks for all the kind words and support throughout the series - it really means a lot! Well, am working on a short trip (4-6 days) thats people can join us on in September 😊
@@MariusRobertsProductions That sounds like a plan. Please keep me posted😃
Where is S3 4 5 6 7😅❤ Please do make another season nothing beats this we literally travel with you. Awesome views, lovely content love it!
Thank you so much! Such a damn cool message 😊 Busy planning Season 3 - will definitely be on the road again this year
Ha ha haaa . You on the throne !!!!😅
Thank you for this lovely series - really enjoyed it. 😊
Thanks so much Hannelie - glad you enjoyed it and thank you for the support and for watching! Mmmm me and my throne - how could I not!
I agree Marius - we are all so sick of these attitudes ... it is so unnecessary.
Nice video, beautiful countryside. Would the main tar roads in Lesotho be OK for doing a Lesotho roadtrip in my Polo TSi_ 3 or 4 days
Thanks so much for the kind words! For sure your Polo would be good for the tar roads - mates of mine do amazing classic car rides in Lesotho because the roads and scenery are just spectacular! Obviously check your routing and make sure your trip is on the main tar roads because you definitely don't want to be on a beautiful road that ends in dirt!!!!
Great travels, Marius and crew. The lamb rescue is the cherry on top. Such a gentleman.
Thanks so much! Two in two days - the universe trying to tell me something? haha
Another awesome trip Marius👌Well vlogged and the honesty of the trip (not leaving out the challenges or unexpected experiences) made it so much more real! I always look forward to the channel and what you have to share. You've inspired me to see more of Lesotho. A winter trips is definitely on the cards!
Thank you so much for the kind words and the support - super cool! Honestly, I don’t know how other people tell their stories - for me it can only be authentic! If my mates watch, they must come away going thats 💯 Marius - that’s always been my yard stick when I started out in TV. Lesotho was amazing - definitely going back and like you, would love to see it in winter BUT I think that place can bite you if you not experienced or traveling alone - the beauty lies in its rawness.
Seeing you all go is like losing my favorite compass, seeing places I'd never thought of going. One thing I learned is that adventure is just a flat tyre and a cold beer away. I loved this series as much as the previous one. Hope you return with a third.
Heinrich thank you! What a lekker message to receive - it honestly means so much getting positive feedback like this! And I love your outlook to adventure and life - it’s there for the living and the laughs…the plan is to be back on the road towards the end of the year again
So enjoyed JTSHFII1... series 2 equally or if not better, cannot wait for series 3/4/5/.... Marius your story telling is inspiring!
Wow Kevin - thank you! You know how to make a guy happy about a Monday 🤣 Back on the road towards the end of the year again…
It's been a pleasure watching this series. Every episode taught you something about our beautiful country and I have picked up a few interesting places I'd like to check out someday. Thank you and can't wait for more.
That's so awesome to hear - thank you!!! I am guessing we could share some travel notes and tips as I bet there are amazing places you get to explore on two wheels!
Thanks for taking us along, Marius. A love of dogs says a lot about someone. Enjoy
Shot Joe - those are my kids! This adventure is as much for them as it is for me...
Another great episoode now fin. That old lady did u well, really not many issues and well behaved too. Well worth the ride. And just to be clear, im talking about the car. Thanks fir an epic season. Looking forward to the next. Keep safe guys
Haha had a proper chuckle - I had an old lady and an old goat on this trip! 100% about the Pajero though - hopefully it encourages people to look at more affordable ways to access the overlanding world! I would never want to convert a new car or my daily driver. Thanks for joining us and for all the messages along the way...
Marius, you always could have crossed the border a little further up north where there is a low water level crossing through the Caledon river if you needed to. We've done that many years ago on a few adventure bikes. ...just saying that there are options. 🙂 This non-stamp passport thing happens more frequently than you can imagine. They do it on purpose so that you will see a need to bribe the border officials at the next post; complete intentional and corrupt.
So I actually cut out that part out of my rant where I said exactly that - the irony that nobody checks you at your car and how you can literally just walk across further up river. What a laugh...but as amazing as the Lesotho people have been, its clearly a condition that happens when you are given authority because its the same attitude around the world!
Well done Marius. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Joe - such a beautiful part of our country and not an area I know too well either! Love to spend some more time exploring there...

Wow what a lovely message - thank you! I am going to save that….
great filming
I love that you are not a grifter!!!
I adore your channel . Adore your dogs. I lost mine a couple of years ago and have not replace her yet. I miss her terribly.
Thanks so much for your lovely message! My dogs are my kids - they all getting on in years now so the reality of life without is something that comes up more and more…and it breaks my heart! So all I can do is live like them - they only know now so make the most of every moment
Wow, I didn't know Lesotho has such beautiful driving roads!
It’s unbelievable - superb roads and in such good condition too! And such Incredible landscape and scenery

So bloody difficult to tell the difference between the Angora kid and a lamb though! Thanks for the message and for the support - thats super cool
Thank you Marius - God bless you for caring so much about animals. Thanks for another great video - beautiful scenery.
Thanks so much Hannelie…glad you enjoyed the show! How could I not help them? So precious

Thank goodness for UA-cam bringing you to my attention today! Just love this episode and again your way of sharing just exploded with enthusiasm.
Thank you so much Danny - its amazing to receive such positive feedback and comment!
Great video as always, Lesotha is beautiful, please make season 3 soon
I hear you....end of the year soon enough?
@@MariusRobertsProductions yes , great news looking forward to watching it
Thank you once again for a breath taking video your interactions with people along the journeys are amazing your a legend sir,I am still stuck on the last video when spoke of the shepherds “They have nothing but they got everything” it has cause me to deeply reflect on life
Hey Johannes thank you so much for your kind messages and your support - its really so appreciated! Yep, I do find we are all far too busy wanting what we don't have because we think that will give us the better life when in fact having the time to be present in live and appreciate the world around you will give you the better life!
Best way to start the day.😊
And that's the best way to start my day - with a lekker comment like that! Thank you...
Must be an Indian trait.
Whenever a male police man stands next to my window, I visibly make it obvious that I am starring at his manhood. Do you know how to say “very small” by only using facial expression? No man will give you a hard time once he sees you’ve got a 3 incher.
Thank you for sharing your videos the been nothing but therapeutic and one thing that you said that is profound when you say the shepherds “have nothing but they got everything” it is a remind just how much we have and how little you need to be happy in life.
