- TEAM SGG PATREON / somegadgetguy RayNeo Air 2 are here! A subsidiary of TCL, these are some of the most streamlined and inexpensive XR glasses I've used yet. Are there TOO many compromises made to hit a lower price? Let's chat about the fit...

Have you tried the Viture glasses? I would love a comparison between all the different XR glasses out there.
YOU SPEAK WELL SIR
Hopefully you get to play with the updated Air 2s. Also, it'd be nice to have another three-way shootout between the RayNeo, Xreal, and Rokid (or four-way shootout if you manage to get your hand on Viture Pro glasses).
So whats better this or xreal pro 2
That’s what I’m wondering
Xreal are the worst, the real fight is between rayneo air 2 and viture xr pro
@@mikeraptorh6888That is true, the Vitures offer a crisper image and better speakers but have smaller projected image than the rayneos
Fit is definitely important in this conversation. I wear contacts and glasses alternatively. For those who only wear glasses, I wonder how comfortable/possible this would be for them if they absolutely need a lens corrective at all times.
I had lens inserts for a while, just to block blue light, and they seemed fine to me. THey add a bit of bulk, the didn't stick out far from the birdbath optics.
@@SomeGadgetGuy hmmm. I definitely want to get my hands on these
What kind of lens inserts do you use?@@SomeGadgetGuy
Tracking? Can you place the "screen" in space with 3 point tracking?
It stays relative to your head, but the apps will pin content to your position.
@@SomeGadgetGuy gotcha. I've been waiting for you to talk about this device. More competition is great! Just like you said.
It's kind of exciting to see TCL spin off this division under its own brand name too. I'm hoping we're going to see more consumer practical options next year.
Do they handle 720p 120hz? Does the Rokid Max? nxtwear S+? I can say for sure that the Xreal Air 2's do not, so I'm sending them back.
Yeah I dunno why they STILL haven't styled the glasses up yet and made them small-XL sizes . I would probably already took the plunge and bought some Xreal glasses by now if so.
That is what I'm interested in! Good looking out, Juan.
Snagged these with the early bird sale and so far the screen is the best thing about them. The entire software experience is overall incomplete and buggy due it relying on the device to dictate how it shows up. On the iphone, it only mirrors the screen which means if you’re watching content it will be wasting battery displaying on the iphone. The android app is better but is buggy and for my surface phone it requires that it’s fully open to use or it just displays a blue screen. On pc, it gives me good indication that it’s connected but doesn’t work, I plan on trying a hdmi adapter once i get one but its frustrating to have to go through all this troubleshooting. Its a 1.5 gen hardware with beta software and integration.
Do these work with 1 eye? Like let's say someone has an issue where one eye is worse than the other or blind?
I don't see why not? Obviously an individual like that might already be struggling with depth effects and 3D content, but just putting up a screen in your field of view, I believe the effect would be similar for someone with only one eye.
@@SomeGadgetGuy That makes sense
You're a rockstar, my guy.
Video lists the price as 299 but Amazon says they are 379 - Looks like even though you juste posted this video, the early bird discount is gone and I'm not sure they are 'budget' anymore....just badly fitting maybe?
Thanks for the honest review , do you know how can connect the ray neo air 2 to my Rog ally and charge it at the same time knowing that it has only one usb c port ?
I use this amzn.to/3uakIoH
But also, a laptop hub might work too if you can get an adapter for the HDMI to USBC.
@@SomeGadgetGuy thank you Juan , thats what i was looking for
👍
This glasses will sale only some country or world wide?
World wide!!!
Xreal air 2?
The fit is a deal-breaker surprisingly, but, unlike earbuds, You can take full-face scans and make better-fitting headsets/glasses.
How do you think we make molded eartips these days?
@@SomeGadgetGuy I mean custom ear tips are a thing with those IEM earbuds
Can i take pictures and watch videos without plugging it in. Lets say im going on a run and I don't wanna plug in the usb can i still watch youtube?
Think of these as portable monitors. Can you watch something on a portable monitor without connecting it to a host computer?
Privacy?
So long as someone isn't nose to nose with you (and they're good at reading mirror image) you should be fine.
Price has gone up since this video was released.
The day we get a one-size-fits-all prescription glass frame is the day we get a one-size-fits-all XR glasses, aka never.
It's proving to be a DIFFICULT point to get across to all the arm chair techie "reviewers".
Does Windows just detect this as a single output monitor? I was wondering if in Windows you could set it to actually be two monitors.
Windows just sees one display, but the TCL app can set up a virtual space that allows for a quasi- multi-monitor use.
so whats your favorite these or xreal 2 or rokid pro max??
For my face personally? I think the XREAL are still the most comfortable. I haven't gotten my hands on the XREAL Air2/Pro yet.
In terms of tech? Functions, software, capabilities?
Can this device run Netflix?
If the host can run netflix, then the glasses will display netflix.
I have the nextwear g, how do these compare?
these feel cheaper but the image is way better, the only problems are the sides, they are very blurry
Good! More competition! The price was the biggest barrier for me so these have an instant leg up.
I like my good friends Viture Glasses, but it has the proprietary magnetic cable.
I only have the Xreal Air 1 because my job contributed to the purchase of them.
I still rock with those XReal. They got a LOT right on a "gen1" display.
