They could have made the door require a key that doesn't actually spawn then just quest-trigger unlock the door - there's dozens of doors like that in Morrowind and Oblivion. Kind of disappointing they didn't take advantage of said mechanic in Skyrim.

I know that one can go and retrieve the Dragonstone in Bleakfalls Barrow early, but this may be pushing. Just as a light on the subject, that house is tied to the Thieves Guild questline. So.. I will be watching to see if that changes any interactions with them. Providing you do the questline.

Yeah, you actually might have broken two quests. The wiki recommends dropping the bust of the grey fox and mercer's plans back in the house as a possible fix.
Although your poor memory is making the quests fun there are some essential and very well voice acted quest mods that many people consider essential! Falskaar, Wyrms Tooth and Helgen Reborn spring to mind.

Well Jon, you just broke the Thieves' Guild questline. It is now impossible to complete a particular quest quite far on in the guild, although you can probably use the 'SetStage' command to fix it when the time comes. If a location seems impossible to enter, that's usually because it is linked to a quest, and forcing your way in may break the quest.
There comes a point in a certain quest where you have to give 'Mercer's Plans' to someone in order to advance to the next stage of the quest. However, if you have already got the plans, the objective to retrieve them is technically incomplete, and it will not allow you to hand them over to the person who wants them, preventing the quest from advancing. The quest being impossible to complete legitimately notwithstanding, it is possible to forcibly complete that objective by using the 'SetStage' command in the console to advance the quest to the next stage, which should allow Jon to complete the quest, although there may be a few hiccups due to the use of the console.
Jon: Lets see if there is a way to ask about your daughter. -Dialog option that will let him talk about the daughter- Jon: Nope, no way to ask about it. - moves on-
Congrats Jon, you just broke the thieves guild main quest line. You didn't "stumble" into a secret. You found an exploit to sequence break into a house that you weren't supposed to enter until almost the end of the main thief guild quest line... I'm impressed.

God damn it Jon! In comments people have already described how you can fix what you've done, so I'll give you advice about something else. Get back to Helga's bunkhouse and speak with other girl - fun quest, join the guild and get a book "shadow symbols" or something like that. Visit Mara's temple, there will be quest "book of love", not only the quest is interesting, reward is awesome. Also find crazy argonian at the pier.
I love you Jon lol. Of anyone that can casually sequence and/or game break a quest I don't any that can just do it the way you do. Only you would think to use Whirlwind Sprint from a neighboring building would work, possibly, into getting into another area. Literally was laughing out loud the entire time. Don't ever change the way you look at obstacles cause somehow you still get it done. Love it.

Another heads up for Jon re: sequence breaking... if you stumble upon the cave that contains the Blades base, DO NOT do the various puzzles to get through. I've had game-ending-glitches there, because an NPC won't advance without solving the puzzle themselves

6:30 Actually Benor is getting progressively weaker as the world continues to level up around him and he stays at his lvl cap of 30. Hope Jon gets a mod to fix this later in the series

Jon, I read that if you drop items of value (like one of the dozens of garnets you carry around) in the town square in Riften, the NPC's will fight over the items you drop. I'd like for you to stage some Peasant Wars in Riften, using the junk you can't stop yourself from picking up.
I can't believe you figured out how to get into that house... Don't know if the game is broken, but it definitely seems like you can just go finish some huge quests right after starting them now... "Here's what Mercer is planning"... "Here's an elder scroll"... "Here's the blood chalice"...
Married Mjoll and stuck her in the north house almost to solitude. Aerin showed up and every night he started walking home to Riften and then walked back during the day. Not that he got all the way there just back and forth.
Jon, two things you should know about the house you robbed in this episode and the Black-Briar lodge in the last episode. The lodge doesn't belong to the brewery, it belongs to its owner: Maven Black-Briar, who is also a very powerful person in Riften (with contacts in the thieves guild and the Dark Brotherhood). The house from this episode? Belongs to the leader of the Thieves guild. You're suppose to enter there during a later mission (also, there was an easier way to get into the house. Once you're in the backyard, fire an arrow or a spell or something at the mechanism underneath the balcony, it'll drop a ramp onto the footpath that leads to the temple and makes it easier to enter the house.)
Yeah, I think that's just a built in dialogue, I don't think Bethesda thought to add an alternative dialogue if the player completed the Dark Brotherhood quest line before meeting with Maven or start the Thieves guild quest line.
re-watching this series, i find it fucking hilarious that he sequence broke into a very obvious quest house, that has a very hacky method of going in. they would never do that because its not a platformer
Also, those marks you see carved everywhere in Riften (and in the rest of Skyrim) are shadowmarks, also part of the thieves guild. I believe you can find a book about it in the Cistern.
Wow, that was even worse than my first interaction with the Guild. I decided to destroy it, broke into the Ragged Flagon, turned into a horrible beast and clawed everyone inside. Too bad they were immortal. It's strange that nobody ever mentioned that incident later xD
The symbols near doors are symbols the thief's guild put to mark which houses are good to rob or avoid. Also for the fetch quest for Marjolene (or whatever she's called) I remember when you first went in there, the centurian blew the sword away, so it was probably somewhere in the room. Annd you just basically did a quest without getting the quest by breaking in that house... niice :)
Jon, after you finish the main quest you should turn this into a kill everything run. Start by joining the Dark Brotherhood and kill everybody they want you to, then install mods to turn off essential tags and disable respawning and then kill everybody else in Skyrim too. You could end the run by shouting Benor off of The Throat of The World, or just live together in one of the countless empty cities.
I didn't think he would actually be able to break into Riftweald Manor long before the Thieves Guild questline actually sends him there. If he does plan to do the quest chain, let's hope he still can!
Jon, before you dismiss working with the Imperials, if you go through the files in the Thalmore embassy you discover that Ulfric is actually a Thalmore agent.
If you're a vampire the Riften bunkhouse is a really quick way to feed up. During the night there's I believe two rooms with around 6 or more people sleeping there all in all. More than enough to get rid of the annoying weakness to fire and reduced regen rates
Everybody down in the comments is bitching that Jon broke the game.. Am I the only one that actually finds these little 'accidental' explorations of his awesomely entertaining?! Emotions of joy all the way as I travelled along with him finding a way to get into this very locked up house. If they wanted to stop people from from breaking that damn quest, well frankly, they should have tried harder :) Well done Jon!
I thought it was okay... in comparison to the other guild questlines, anyway. But you what put it next to the one from Oblivion, it looks half-arsed at best. All the guild quests in this game feel rushed and phoned in. Why did The Psijic Order warn you about being judged for future actions in the Mages Guild? Who the hell are The Silver Hand, and why do they hate the Companions? Where are the fun, multiple path mission in The Dark Brotherhood? Skyrim is a brilliant game, but a lot was rushed or cut to meet the marketing savvy 11/11/11 release deadline, and it shows. It really should have been brushed up for the Special Edition, in my opinion.
The Psijic order were talking about the eye, the silver hand are just werewolf hunters and you can choose to kill the darkbrotherhood but it isn't very intresting if you do...
Jon, there were about 50 locked doors around that house. you might have just broken the thieves guild quest and therefore if you wish to continue it and get awesome exposition and a great plot, you might have to restart from an earlier save. Not trying to be rude, but I have no idea how you didn't get a sense that the house was bloody important to a plot and that the game was meant for you not to get in this early.
Jon continues his epic journey to go to quest locations before he has the quest they are involved in. If a place tries really hard not to let you in, it's probably a quest: Don't force it.

Great work loved the platforming bit (oh what's that Skyrim isn't a platforming game, uh no back seat gaming I'll platform if I want to), I didn't know you could even get into that house early, This will be great for my next play through as soon as I find a good mod that lets me destroy the thieves guild.
Jon, Chillrend is a leveled item. If you grab it at lv 46, it is the second strongest sword in the game. At level 46 it is as strong as a dragonbone sword and does 30 frost damage per hit and paralyzes for 2 seconds..
Ah Jon, You have all the filled soul gems in the world AND Azura's Star and you STILL balk at a super powerful weapon like Chillrend because it may need to be recharged more frequently than your inferior mace. What the hell else are you planning with those soul gems!?!!

For someone who loves Skyrim so much, you really don't seem to know much about it. Did you play as a stealth archer EVERY time?

Also how do you play a stealth archer multiple times and not do a thieves guild storyline? He didn't even recognize the secret tomb guild exit...

I can't believe you figured out how to get into that house... Don't know if the game is broken, but it definitely seems like you can just go finish some huge quests right after starting them now... "Here's what Mercer is planning"... "Here's an elder scroll"... "Here's the blood chalice"...
Seriously you still haven't realized that that was not the meadery, that was where they live. The actual meadery is right in the middle of Riften!

Married Mjoll and stuck her in the north house almost to solitude. Aerin showed up and every night he started walking home to Riften and then walked back during the day. Not that he got all the way there just back and forth.
You should've had Mjoll wait somewhere like Breezehome while you go SNEAK kill Aerin then marry her

Jon, two things you should know about the house you robbed in this episode and the Black-Briar lodge in the last episode. The lodge doesn't belong to the brewery, it belongs to its owner: Maven Black-Briar, who is also a very powerful person in Riften (with contacts in the thieves guild and the Dark Brotherhood). The house from this episode? Belongs to the leader of the Thieves guild. You're suppose to enter there during a later mission (also, there was an easier way to get into the house. Once you're in the backyard, fire an arrow or a spell or something at the mechanism underneath the balcony, it'll drop a ramp onto the footpath that leads to the temple and makes it easier to enter the house.)

Yeah, I think that's just a built in dialogue, I don't think Bethesda thought to add an alternative dialogue if the player completed the Dark Brotherhood quest line before meeting with Maven or start the Thieves guild quest line.
re-watching this series, i find it fucking hilarious that he sequence broke into a very obvious quest house, that has a very hacky method of going in. they would never do that because its not a platformer
Well MAYBE if he'd done the Thieves Guild quest line, then he would also understand what's up with the locked house

Also, those marks you see carved everywhere in Riften (and in the rest of Skyrim) are shadowmarks, also part of the thieves guild. I believe you can find a book about it in the Cistern.
Wow, that was even worse than my first interaction with the Guild. I decided to destroy it, broke into the Ragged Flagon, turned into a horrible beast and clawed everyone inside. Too bad they were immortal. It's strange that nobody ever mentioned that incident later xD
My friend its the Dark Brotherhood you can destroy by killing everyone except Babette
The symbols near doors are symbols the thief's guild put to mark which houses are good to rob or avoid. Also for the fetch quest for Marjolene (or whatever she's called) I remember when you first went in there, the centurian blew the sword away, so it was probably somewhere in the room.
Annd you just basically did a quest without getting the quest by breaking in that house... niice :)

Jon, after you finish the main quest you should turn this into a kill everything run. Start by joining the Dark Brotherhood and kill everybody they want you to, then install mods to turn off essential tags and disable respawning and then kill everybody else in Skyrim too. You could end the run by shouting Benor off of The Throat of The World, or just live together in one of the countless empty cities.
I didn't think he would actually be able to break into Riftweald Manor long before the Thieves Guild questline actually sends him there. If he does plan to do the quest chain, let's hope he still can!
Jon, before you dismiss working with the Imperials, if you go through the files in the Thalmore embassy you discover that Ulfric is actually a Thalmore agent.

If you're a vampire the Riften bunkhouse is a really quick way to feed up. During the night there's I believe two rooms with around 6 or more people sleeping there all in all. More than enough to get rid of the annoying weakness to fire and reduced regen rates
Everybody down in the comments is bitching that Jon broke the game.. Am I the only one that actually finds these little 'accidental' explorations of his awesomely entertaining?! Emotions of joy all the way as I travelled along with him finding a way to get into this very locked up house.
If they wanted to stop people from from breaking that damn quest, well frankly, they should have tried harder :) Well done Jon!

I thought it was okay... in comparison to the other guild questlines, anyway. But you what put it next to the one from Oblivion, it looks half-arsed at best. All the guild quests in this game feel rushed and phoned in.
Why did The Psijic Order warn you about being judged for future actions in the Mages Guild? Who the hell are The Silver Hand, and why do they hate the Companions? Where are the fun, multiple path mission in The Dark Brotherhood?
Skyrim is a brilliant game, but a lot was rushed or cut to meet the marketing savvy 11/11/11 release deadline, and it shows. It really should have been brushed up for the Special Edition, in my opinion.

Jon, that symbol is called a "shadowmark." There's a book in the Thieve's Guild (called "Shadowmarks") that explains what all of them mean.

Jon, there were about 50 locked doors around that house. you might have just broken the thieves guild quest and therefore if you wish to continue it and get awesome exposition and a great plot, you might have to restart from an earlier save. Not trying to be rude, but I have no idea how you didn't get a sense that the house was bloody important to a plot and that the game was meant for you not to get in this early.
Jon continues his epic journey to go to quest locations before he has the quest they are involved in. If a place tries really hard not to let you in, it's probably a quest: Don't force it.
Imagine a stranger getting into your house, in your room, and waking you up with the question "What do you have against Theresa May?"

Great work loved the platforming bit (oh what's that Skyrim isn't a platforming game, uh no back seat gaming I'll platform if I want to), I didn't know you could even get into that house early, This will be great for my next play through as soon as I find a good mod that lets me destroy the thieves guild.

Most complex way I've ever seen someone break into Mercer's house. Rather than just using fus ro dah on the ramp mechanism...mixes it up a bit though.

Jon, Chillrend is a leveled item. If you grab it at lv 46, it is the second strongest sword in the game. At level 46 it is as strong as a dragonbone sword and does 30 frost damage per hit and paralyzes for 2 seconds..
Ah Jon, You have all the filled soul gems in the world AND Azura's Star and you STILL balk at a super powerful weapon like Chillrend because it may need to be recharged more frequently than your inferior mace. What the hell else are you planning with those soul gems!?!!

That house in Riften was supposed to be one of the location of the Thiefs guild quest... That's why u shouldn't visit places that r locked with gates that says "requires the key"... You may had game-break the quest Joh, great job!
