If you live in Illinois and want to check out my favorite vintage thrift stores, there are two on Main Street (near the Casey’s) in Wyanet and several on Main St. in Princeton (5 minutes from Wyanet). Mattie’s on Main (located in both towns) is the best one. If you visit, tell Michelle, the owner, that I sent you, but don’t buy up all the good stuff! 😜
I grew up in southern Indiana and ima huge Lincoln fan. Lots of places named Lincoln, Lincoln State Park and Lincoln City, Lincoln Ferry Park. And Lincoln Boyhood home very interesting and well preserved.
I live in central Illinois, and yes, I thought everyone shopped at theses kind of shops! I have 40 yrs worth . ones man’s trash is another’s treasure. Enjoyed your post.
You have an outstanding eye for staging. You make beautiful things but they look even better when you include them in a composition. The sum is always greater than its parts. That is my favorite aspect of your videos, to study how you group and arrange your favorite things. That is something I struggle with, my tendency to thrift store clutter. I sincerely think your gifts would be appreciated creating window displays, seasonal displays, furniture arrangements at a high end store.
🇳🇱Dutch-lady✋🏻 here again😉😅. Oh those little white blue ceramic bowls at 12:46 : with holes around the side, give me such nostalgia to my childhood in the late 70s. Mom once bought one of these fir herself. Those were probably bought as souvenirs from a trip to The Netherlands 🇳🇱, as far back as the 70s-going till now?! 🤔 Because those are probably still being sold at Schiphol Airport's duty free & the 'flower market' in downtown Amsterdam. They are 'crocus bulb pots' and are sold with little crocus bulbs planted sideways towards the holes. Through which they grow up and grow horizontal. Next to the top of the bowl, also, being filled with more blooming crocuses. 👋🏻from 🇳🇱😊
I have that same little trunk! It has a tray inside, just like a full-sized trunk. I have always thought of it as a doll trunk, perhaps with the doll stored inside and her clothes in the tray. I am a thrifter and rescuer of beautiful things that others don't seem to see. I wish I lived closer to your amazing stores! You are amazing!
That little vignette based around the basket with the red stripe was just yummy. It was meant to be, especially with the little velvet frames and shoes. I appreciate "seeing" how you think about putting things together. Always a treat.
Love those vintage portraits! I collect the small antique portraits and this year I decorated a small 4’ tree with them. I loved it ! So enjoy your videos!❤
I have William Morris wallpaper…blackthorn in my home. I did board and batten 3/4 of the way up the wall, then put up the William Morris blackthorn wallpaper above it. The board and batten was painted white. It’s stunning.
My Mother had some pots with holes like that. She planted bulbs in them. Whe packed the bulbs in pest moss and would drop water in through the holes. Mini daffodils, Hyacinth and Paperwhites is what she grew. I love placing little framed pictures in a bookcase. It was so warm and homey. I used to live in Rantoul and you cannot beat Illinois for Vintage Shops. Can’t recall the name but there is a little town that is all vintage shops. Great finds.
Hello, and thank you once again. I’m not sure what my purchases might have been, but the lamp at 19:30, I am surprised you didn’t bring it home, the urn shaped “cage” lamp to the left, next to the hobnail. That! Was a find , to me! I enjoy “browsing” the thrift, and vintage shops, what fun! I find it helps the creative brain cells, and when I’m out, I look at things differently. Again, thanks for the journey!and visit into your home.
I grew up in KY and TN . I have all my adult life, loved Abraham Lincoln. I love vintage and have virtually the same taste you have in furniture pieces, and oh my goodness… the blue and white Asian porcelain…love, love, love. I was born in 1948 and there were so many old show places built in our town in the late 1800’s. The elegance of the furnishings, the beautiful decorative touches, colors, artistically grouped together, will forever remain in my memory. You have that knack of pulling things together in the most tasteful way. Thank you for sharing with us
Sherry, the square bamboo thingy is a ginger grater. Commonly sold at Asian grocery shops. Love your channel. Hope you bought all that blue transferware!
I have found that I like my small coffee mugs better than the large ones. I have a couple of mugs that are sentimental to me - they belonged to my mother in law who has passed. I use them all the time and leave the larger mugs to my family or guests.
SIGH!!! I loved every bit of this video, Sherry! Thrifting with you was so fun! And I can't believe the treasures you found! I definitely can't choose a favorite but I especially loved seeing how you displayed each item! So many luscious layers! Thanks for sharing your home and your talent with us! :)
I so admire your taste, talent, and creativity. Your home is so beautifully decorated. I am so impressed and a wee tad envious of your boundless energy. Thanks for the tips.
HA!! Are you kidding, Sherry? ALL of those items would have come home with me! LOL You definitely hit the jackpot with those finds! I wish there were interesting shops like that where I live. This was a really fun video, thanks Sherry!
Those tiny mugs are great (as are demitasse cups) for placing into glass canisters of flour, sugar, oats, etc. I change mine out, seasonally. Right now, I have blue and white ones and red and white ones. At Christmas, they are red and whit. In the spring, I use floral cups.
I use blue and white year-round for the same purpose. Now I’m rethinking…it will be fun to change for the seasons. And give me another excuse to buy sweet little China pieces☺️
I have my mom's small cups, I use them all the time for desserts. Puddings, jello, icecream, fruit cups.... and I always smile because they make me think of my moma.❤❤❤❤❤ thanks Sherri. 😊oh, I forgot. Yesterday I got a crystal chandelier, all glass crystals, brass base at local thrift store for 15 dollars!!!!
Sherry, Sherry, Sherry I follow so many crafters on UA-cam and I am so over the Thrifting videos. There are only a few that I will watch but this is without a doubt one of my favorites and one of my favorite videos of yours. Thank you ☺️
You have GOT to be kidding,! Pick ONE??? Sherry, you have out done yourself! Oh…My…Gosh! I am flabbergasted! First, the vignette with the red books, the basket, the miniatures, and little red shoes, were over-the-top. Then the treats for the eyes, just kept coming! As a subscriber, since a month or so, into your UA-cam journey, I continue to be amazed, and come back, week after week, to be blown away by your creativity and talent. Thank you for sharing your gifts. You are truly inspiring
I love love old things that have history. You found some real jewels on your vintage fines. I really love the two little frames with the red velvet & photos.. just love your channel ❤
Hi Sherry, I too liked everything. I loved your display of your bluevand white stuff and thought you need an old rollingbpin with some blue and white print handles. And you may already have this I just didn't see one in your displays. Thanks for sharing, God bless.
Sherry I love your blue dishware. 💙 When I see your drawers I immediately thought switching out the knobs with blue porcelain ones. I love how you've arranged everything!❤
As usual, Sherry, you did it again! I loved all the things you did, but I especially loved the new bedside table and empty mirror frame. I honestly think that you are gifted with a different kind of sight than I have.....I am always surprised when you do your makeovers because I just could not see that finished item before it was done! You are a wonder to watch, and I enjoy every video to the max!!! I love your home too....but I will just admit right away that there is no way I could decorate like that.....the dusting would just get out of hand! LOL!!! I am so glad you take the time to share your ideas with us.....I am also sure I am not the only one out here that feels the same way!!!
Thank you so much, Sharon! You are so kind! I actually don’t dust that often. I swipe a Swifter duster around.😜 I only actually wipe things down when I am rearranging decor.
The blue and white planters with the holes are for spring flowers like crocus. They pop out through the holes.I love all your repurposed treasures - you have the gift. The mirrorless frame turned out so beautiful!
Sherry, OMG. GENIUS. Can believe all that for $52. You got everything I would have. Was born in IL but raised in Fl. My dad and family still live up there. Girl, I'm about to book a flight just to go to that store. Thank you
i love how u show vintage shopping or thrift but that u also show how u use it...i personally dont like to watch peoples shopping and or haul without seeing how it is used...i just love that ty
The masher, wooden drawers and tiny shoes would have come home with me. The books would have stayed. I have too many already. Love how you displayed them.
Many of the items would have come home with me, especially the clam shell and the little shoes! I love those! I was hoping you'd grab the clam shell, and you did! I just loved the excitement in your voice throughout the video. Thank you for showing us the fabulous time you had at the stores, Sherry!
I always love spending time with you on Monday afternoon. That was quite the antique/thrift store. My favorite was the little trunk and I would have brought home the blue glass jars in a heart beat!!
Thank you! I really wanted today’s video to show how much I love my home state and her vintage treasures! If I could have only bought one thing-I think it would have been the little trunk, but the portrait frames are a close second.
Hi Sherry, This was my favorite video of yours...I grew up in southern Iowa in a Victorian home a couple of blocks from the town square and your finds took me back home . Thank you so much! I appreciate your time and effort in making these charming videos. God bless...Melanie
Hi from Illinois, I love your vintage style and you have a beautiful home to decorate. I'd like to thank you for not bombarding us with promotional items as some influencers do. I realize that is a way to make money and get free stuff but it just gets old having it shoved in your face all the time so thanks for keeping it to a minimum!
Oh my word Sherri what a thrift store. I wish I was closer. Love love love everything you thrifted and how you have incorporated them in your home. Wonderful video Thank you so much for taking us along 💞💕💓🤗💓💕💞
I would have to take up residence in that shop as it would take me a long while to look at everything. You found some wonderful pieces and my favorite part is seeing them in all their glory displayed in your home. Old books, particularly children’s school books have always been a favorite item to thrift, along with lamps and small wooden chairs.
Wow! That was a lot of great pieces for your money! And so many pieces have future potential by simply changing the color or how you are using them! I love every single collection you have and see that WE like a WIDE variety of decor and enjoy our displays! I owned those strawberry canisters (a wedding gift) and stupidly donated when I had way way too much excess decor. Not my brightest moment!🙄 I love anything vintage like crazy and that’s only only one reason I watch you. My top reason is that you have an amazingly creative mind. ❤️
Oh, you are so so sweet! I, too, got rid of some things that I wish I would have kept. When she was downsizing, my mother-in-law gave me several silver serving pieces. I was in my 20’s and stupidly didn’t want her “old lady” stuff!
Not sure on the girl & boy statue, I couldn’t find it either but the clock you got that was black with flowers on it is worth $50!!! You have a great eye for things! But a lot more stuff would have definitely came home with me!!! 🤣
I was born and raised in Illinois too! Born in Chicago but grew up in Elgin. I, too, admire Abraham Lincoln. As a teenager I found out he actually passed away on my birthday and my fate was sealed! I've been following you for a couple years now and, boy, do I wish you were my neighbor!!! I don't live there anymore so unless you move to SC, that, is out of the question. ☹️
I’d love to see more videos Ike this. I struggle with the staging of my items! I’m great at finding perfect vintage item but I always struggle putting things together.
Sherry! You always amaze me with your found treasures! The little square wood looking thing with the jagged cross bars is a Japanese grater. Thanks for sharing so much creativity! Love your videos!
Sherry, your blue and white collection is to die for! I love everything you thrifted, but I would have gotten at least one clock. I look forward to your videos each week 😊
Hi Sherry, another awesome time with you. The planters with the holes are for 'Hens and Chicks' at least that is what we would do with them here in NY. You have a most beautiful home and I love to see your thrifting makeovers.
The Sandburg biographys of Lincoln have always been my favorites. Love all of the lovely victorians in your opening video......Not sure, but I think those little blue and white pots with the holes are for Crocus and other spring bulbs. You plant the bulbs into the holes. That's about all I know about them.
Thanks, Sherry! So envious of your little getaway to the antique store! My favorite is the frame missing the mirror. What a great find! Have a great week ahead!

Wow! Love all your vintage finds! I’m from Chicago and will definitely will visit your favorite stores. Thanks so very much for sharing!
Oh wow! What a great haul! Love all of it! I sure wish you would do a home tour some day! Yes, I’m nosy like that! Haha!
I was raised in Central Illinois, near Arthur, Illinois. That drive brought back some memories. Now I’m in Florida.
Will definitely have to check those out! Enjoyed getting to "shop" with you and see what you did with your purchases!
I grew up in southern Indiana and ima huge Lincoln fan. Lots of places named Lincoln, Lincoln State Park and Lincoln City, Lincoln Ferry Park. And Lincoln Boyhood home very interesting and well preserved.
The little rustic couple figurine is French and it reads OUR LOVE❤
The language is french, but the clothing looks Dutch. So I believe it may be a Belgian figurine.
I live in central Illinois, and yes, I thought everyone shopped at theses kind of shops! I have 40 yrs worth . ones man’s trash is another’s treasure. Enjoyed your post.

Right?!

I am a thrifter and rescuer of beautiful things that others don't seem to see. I wish I lived closer to your amazing stores! You are amazing!
I love William Morris. I recently bought my daughter a table runner and wall display of the strawberry theif.
I just adored the trunk!
Hi Sherry! The little wood scraper thing you asked about is a Chinese ginger grater.
That was a great store!!
That little vignette based around the basket with the red stripe was just yummy. It was meant to be, especially with the little velvet frames and shoes. I appreciate "seeing" how you think about putting things together. Always a treat.

I can’t believe you didn’t come home with a clock!! You are the queen of decorating with clocks!! Wonderful video😍
Thank you so much!! I know. I am really kicking myself!!!
@@CanterburyCottage My mother used to use that expression all the time, usually because she was so indecisive!
Love that large empty frame you painted Tate green. The distressing was wonderful!
The little pots with holes on the sides are for Orchids. Orchids get root rot easily so the holes give it's roots lots of air.
Thank you! I had no idea. I have never tried growing orchids because I can barely keep hearty plants and flowers alive!
@@CanterburyCottage looks more like garlicpots.
I thought they looked like tea light holders
@@Lil-Jack-Jack What a good idea... that would work out well.
I thought orchid pots... Regardless their original purpose, they'd work with orchids.

Hard decision! I love the girl and boy, the wooden shoes and the small trunk. I would have bought all three!
Thanks, Jan!

I absolutely love your home. You display so much but it doesn't look junky. I have lots but mine looks junky. Wish I had your knack.
I have found that I like my small coffee mugs better than the large ones. I have a couple of mugs that are sentimental to me - they belonged to my mother in law who has passed. I use them all the time and leave the larger mugs to my family or guests.

Hi Sherry, I love this video! Naturally I would have purchased the blue and white!
I loved them all! Your house is beautiful!

You are the Queen of vignettes! It gives me so many ideas! I live your channel. One of my favorites for sure!❤ you got alot for $52!
Loved everything you pulled together, up cycled, revamped, re-envisioned, recreated and/or rebuilt. Especially liked your lamp at the end!! Perfect!
The holes in the pots are for crocus bulbs, they are really effective when grown with flowers popping out of the holes! Great video!
You made quite a haul for 52$! You styled them all beautifully ! Live and appreciate your inspiration❤️
Thank you so much!! This small town store has great prices--nothing has a price tag on it.
I love that short story too! I heard it on the radio when I was young and it affected me deeply!
The pots with holes are for orchids. But they work great for storing sponges. The holes allow air flow. Great haul! My mind of shopping. ❤
what a great idea!😁 i have one & was thinking of trying to make it a small strawberry pot but, since i have a large one, 8 like your idea better.😍
Love the Blue Willow china. I have a ton of it
I just bought a Blue Willow dinner plate at her store!!
I just love and admire your gift for styling a space with all these beautiful and unique vintage finds. You really inspire me.❤️
loved everything you did!!!
The delft pots with holes are vintage crocus pots. Great video with wonderful finds!
I love how you use all the vintage finds, but just love the small trunk best!

This was fun, Sherry. Love the blue and white items, the two precious gold frames with the red velvet, and the red frame you painted green.
Thank you so much, Barbara!
Love all the vintage items, especially the architectural salvage piece.
I love the way you incorporate the vintage finds into your home. You have such a knack for decor!
Thank ypu for the shopping and styling video. You have a great eye for creating vignettes!
I love the little Dutch Clogs… I love all your ‘Pretties’
If I only had your eye and vision. You are an inspiration.

Thanks Sherry! The trunk is my favorite today! Thanks for the great video! T'rese 😊
What a fun shopping trip. And you only spent$52!! Amazing. The little trunk would of come home with me for sure!!
Sherry, your blue and white collection is to die for! I love everything you thrifted, but I would have gotten at least one clock. I look forward to your videos each week 😊
Thank you! I don’t know why I didn’t get one of those larger clocks. 🤔 They were both so unique!!!
@@CanterburyCottage especially the black one with the drawers!❤
Hi Sherry, another awesome time with you. The planters with the holes are for 'Hens and Chicks' at least that is what we would do with them here in NY. You have a most beautiful home and I love to see your thrifting makeovers.
Thank you! Oh, that makes sense. I do remember seeing some large pots with holes filled with Hens and Chicks!
I love 💕 the lamp very much , so many beautiful things for so little money
The Sandburg biographys of Lincoln have always been my favorites. Love all of the lovely victorians in your opening video......Not sure, but I think those little blue and white pots with the holes are for Crocus and other spring bulbs. You plant the bulbs into the holes. That's about all I know about them.
Thanks, Sherry! So envious of your little getaway to the antique store! My favorite is the frame missing the mirror. What a great find! Have a great week ahead!
My favourite, though all were fantastic, was the red mirror frame. I loved it even before you painted it.
