I'm English, I live in England, your video made me feel even more English than I already do!!! We live in much smaller homes but they are authentic and beautiful.
What a wonderful husband you have and what a wonderful home. Here on the UK I live in a small but very pretty 17th century flint cottage and like you I love to collect special items!!!. I sometimes think I have over done it but then I watch you and get inspired as to how I can use them in different ways to look less cluttered. Thanks Sherry xxxx My favourite was the coal shuttle I have a repro one which at the moment holds faux flowers but yet again you have inspired me to change it out.😊
My husband and I live in a used to be " Road man's Cottage" built in 1850's and it's full of characters. I am so inspired watching your videos. Thank you Sherry!
I love the way you framed the Lincoln book cover. It really looks good on your Lincoln shelf and that log cabin jewelry box just finished it off perfectly. Great finds Sherry. And your husband is da bomb for his sweet gesture. He's a keeper. My hubby and I will be celebrating 50 years of marriage tomorrow. We are blessed! ❤
I am so happy you got the bookends. They are absolutely perfect in that room. No, it's not weird to have two fruit prints/paintings in your kitchen. haha They look great.❤
Although I now live in New England, I grew up in Aurora, Illinois. I've been to Galena on many occasions and absolutely love it there. It's SO charming!!! I love the Abraham Lincoln photo in the frame. He's one of my favorite Presidents (And would probably be turning in his grave if he saw what Illinois is like now). I really enjoy your video's.....
I agree! That Jenny Lind spool bed is gorgeous, also the story behind the name is great too (Jenny Lind, a singer, was of 'rock star' status in the mid-1800s)
What an absolute sweetheart of a husband! You must have been just sick to realize those bookends had been missed, so glad you got them in the end. Great video, thanks for sharing, much love from California ❤
Your husband is so sweet! I was heartbroken when you said somehow they were left out of your purchases. I'm so happy he was so thoughtful. You thrifted some beautiful things.
First of all, I’m completely obsessed with you and your channel. Seriously, I’m such a humongous fan and feel we are kindred spirits and now I know that to be true! The duo of vintage botanicals in the beautiful scalloped like wooden frames is actually a set of 3! I have them displayed on my living room bookshelves. They were gifted from my grandmas house! I often go “shopping” in her house!
Aweee that melted my heart when your husband got those bookends!!!..made me tear up with joy for you I could hear it in your voice..your stying and taste are superb!
Oh I think I’m going to cry. What a prize of a husband you have! What a perfect way to end a most interesting video. You brought home some real treasures!
I could not imagen your home without the book ends! God blessed you with an awesome husband! I absolutely Love your different styles for your bookshelf and everything you do to decorate or curate your home ! My favorite video!
I, too, loved the bookends; my poor bookcases are so loaded with books, I seldom have room for them! I loved all your treasures and enjoyed seeing how you styled them! I smiled when I noticed you dusting the mantle as you rearranged stuff--the best way to do it in my opinion! Your husband is definitely a keeper; give him a big hug from all of us who appreciate his thoughtfulness!
My favorite was the little "Lincoln cabin.". The coal scuttle was a great find along with all your other goodies. What a thoughtful husband you have. I love those bookends.
Sherry I just love how curated your home is and I am so glad to see another maximalist because it makes a home so cozy! You got some beautiful pieces and it would be toohard to pick a favorite but I have to say your husband was just too sweet to take the time and love to get you those bookends that you wanted so much, he sounds like a very thoughtful man! I enjoyed seeing Grant's home too, thanks Sherry!
How awesome to have a husband who knows how important those bookends are to you; and found a way to bring them to your home where they can be showcased in such a lovely way. The Lincoln frame looks fabulous on the Lincoln shelf. I loved the tour of Grant's home at the end. Thank you for doing that. Your kitchen looks amazing, never stop styling, you never know what will happen!!
My favorite.... was the thoughtful, loving jester your hubby did . It reminded me of something my hubby would do ! And I have known my hubby for 30 years also !!!
I am so tickled that your husband got the bookends for you. That is exactly what my husband would have done. He’s a keeper! I was so crushed on your behalf, I almost cried. Galena is on our list of places to visit.
I’m so glad you have a thoughtful husband, too! I do hope you get to visit Galena. It was such a charming place-good shopping, good food, and so many historical places to visit.
What a wonderful trip!!! Everything you bought was perfect for your use, and those bookends! Oh my, so very happy that you have them. Your husband is very thoughtful and must love you very much! Thanks for sharing.
You do have a wonderfully thoughtful and loving hubby. The bookends go so perfectly with the decor in your vignette. So many great treasures! So glad you had a special time in Gallena. 🤗
I love this tour!!! Thank you! Answer to one question you asked: No, nothing in your kitchen is weird. All lovely, lovely. I will watch again, gladly- it’s always a treat.
I keep reviewing this video because I appreciate your "eye" for how things should fit and function together. Like you, I learned long ago how to make something special out of a whole bunch of "nothing!" And, I "fiddle" with a display until it's just right. I think that women just need a cozy nest and I'm so tickled that your hubby remembered how much you liked the jumping horses. That is just awesome!
We are kindred spirits! I do fiddle with my displays much longer than it appears on video, but I don’t think anyone wants to watch me move things around for 15 minutes!😜
Awe, I loved the carousel horse❤️ you know me! I really enjoyed going shopping with you! Glalena was absolutely beautiful. I know y’all had a great time. I’m so sorry your statuettes got left behind but you got some beautiful things. Much love, T
I am SO glad you got your beautiful book ends!!!! They are my favorite find from your trip❤️, and I was so sorry to hear you had left them behind!! What a wonderful, thoughtful husband you have that he would think to call and get them for you!!❤❤
I think this is my all time favorite video of yours. Former Illinois resident here, now residing in the great Pacific Northwest. I guess I’m still a Midwest girl at heart! Your tour of Galena and Grant’s house makes me long for my beloved Prairie State. Love all of your purchases and how you styled them! Thank you for sharing!
So many wonderful finds! I really liked the frame around the Lincoln picture, the little strawberry jam jar (so cute!), and the mirror. I’m so happy for you, that you get to share your life with such a kind man
No, nothing looked out of place or funny, just beautiful. Loved watching you go through the schoolhouse. The homes are just so gorgeous and the town. Found some really nice pieces. Your husband was so sweet, the bookends are perfect. So glad you got them. This was a great video. Thank you...
What a sweetheart your hubby is, so thoughtful of him to get the bookends for you. I think I like them the best because of the story behind them and they pair so nicely with the fox hunt painting you already have. Beautiful finds!😊
Oh, thank you, Pat! The lady that checked me out that day was new and struggling entering everything into the computer. I know she was doing her best, but I was so sad when I unpacked everything and the bookends were missing. My hubby is a pretty nice guy!
Weird? Absolutely not. Whoever says everything has to be match-y /match-y is wrong. To me, beauty is what pleases your personal taste, and I love your style. My own home reflects my 70+ years of living & traveling. Actually, much like your personal style. I do love all I’ve learned from you these last few years. Thanks so much & keep those DIY’s coming. ❤
That was very considerate and loving what your husband did. You are truly gifted in putting vignettes together. Your home is beautiful (but I’d hate to dust it).😁
Thank you Sherry, for taking on such a wonderful trip. You found lovely treasures and showcased them beautifully. I love the Lincoln display. You also have a very thoughtful husband. I'm so glad you got the bookends. They are fabulous.
I'm a Lincoln fan. I grew up in Illinois and learned a lot about him. We also share an important date. April 15, 1865 was his last day on earth and 88 years later on that date I was born. So I've always felt a connection to him. I've been to Galena so long ago. The streets look the same, even after almost 50 years. I love seeing how you style your home and all the pretty things in it. Thanks for sharing with us! ♥️♥️♥️
Thank you! I am currently reading Bill O’Reilly’s book “Killing Lincoln.” I think you would like it (especially because of your unusual connection). I did not know all of the details of his assassination and have been surprised by a number of things. For instance, Wilkes and his co-conspirators had planned on killing U.S. Grant, too. The Grants were supposed to join the Lincolns in the state box at the Ford Theater that night. However, Julia Grant wanted to get home to her children (and she didn’t like Mary Lincoln), so they left town early. It makes you wonder, what would have happened if Grant had been in the box, too.
I had so much enjoyment from watching this video. It was educational, informative and so much fun. I felt like I was on the trip too. A lot of memories came to mind also. I went to school in the 60's and early 70's and the hard wood floors were the same. The gymnasium floors were so shiny and we had wooden bleachers to watch the games. Antiques were such a part of my home life as my parents owned a store. My Mom had a small room for her crafts like the beaded handbags. Suede vests with fringe beaded and so long. It was the hippy ear, woodstock and all. Getting to your treasued things that you bought. My favorite is the photo of Lincoln and I love how you styled it all. Thank you for sharing this Sherry. It really was very special. Hope to see another one.
How thoughtful and caring of your husband to get those stunning book ends! I love the blue and white sugar canister and the mirror...and everything else!!!
I really like the way you styled the book ends in front of the painting of the fox hunt. It almost looks like the bookends jumped out of the painting. I am really in to functional art and those bookends are both useful and beautiful
I have a feeling that there were a lot more things that you would have wanted to take home. Your husband gave you an amazing surprise with those book ends.
You’re right! I saw nice things in my video footage that I didn’t even notice when I was there! I’m hoping my husband and I can go back there next summer!
I love your channel, the way you find amazing items and put them together. Love the shopping trip and always great that you share how you use the items. I’m English and live in England, so watching you style your home is always a highlight of day. My hubby passed away in May, we had been married a week off our 35th wedding anniversary. Please could you do another kitchen decor video. I just love watching them, let’s face it most of us would not put such beautiful items in the kitchen, but why not. I have a few pieces around my kitchen, but would definitely like to do more. So a kitchen decor video would be great. Xxx
Hello Sherry 😊 I sooo enjoyed this video - to see the lovely little towns you visited and to go browsing the antiques and collectibles with you. I love to see how you style your home with new finds and with the seasons - you have such a good eye for it - that I wish I had! Your husband is a thoughtful man - what a lovely surprise for you when that special package arrived! Bless his heart! That is something we DO have in common Sherry - wonderful husbands! 👍🤗👍 Thank you for sharing your lovely day out with us and for sharing those special photos at the end. Ann xxx 🤗🤗🤗
Oh, thank you so much! This was such a fun trip for us and a fun video to make, too. I shouldn’t have been surprised that my husband bought those bookends, but I was. I had called the store, and they told me they would not ship them to me! Somehow, he convinced them!
Thanks for taking us with you on this very special shopping trip but I can tell that you need to have someone like me 😆to follow around behind you and pick up the items that you love, yet put back on the shelf. When you get ready to check out, you can revisit all the items in your bag and then it's easier to make a decision on what to leave behind. The ability to give each item a special place to shine in your home is clearly your superpower! SO glad that you now have the beautiful bookends. Thanks again, Sherry.
Regardless of what we bought or left behind, a shopping adventure like this would be a ton of fun! Have a great week as summer begins to wind down. @@CanterburyCottage
I especially loved all the changes and additions to your kitchen. I also love fruit and/or floral paintings. I have some thrift store purchases that are still waiting to be hung. I'd better get to it! Although I'm not into the moody, dark decor, I'm always impressed by how you can tweak things and create an entirely different feel. You are so creatively gifted. Like everyone else, I applaud your hubby for his kind, thoughtful effort in getting those book ends. They are superb. See you next time, Sherry.
I drove through Galena once with two of my sisters. We didnt have time for sightseeig though. I do remember driving past Grant's home. 😊. It's beautiful from the outside and can only imagine the inside. Blue and white pieces are my all time favorite to decorate and use in my home. I would have picked up that ton in a heartbeat no matter how much I already have. Love how you used all of your finds
the book ends have to be the most special gift! How thoughtful of your husband. I remember visiting Williamsburg Virginia and the old items were so beautiful. I was not into antiques and older items when i was there. I think someday we will have to go back. There is something about those old historic towns.
Oh my god you have such a flair for decorating and crafting and you’re so imaginative and what a gift for decor transformations! I love watching you!!! 😁😁😁
Love it all! The Trip, snaps of the day & your lovely finds & how you added them to your home! Many ideas in my head now after watching :) Thank You for sharing your Talent & Home with us :)
Absolutely Spectacular! Everything is perfect, from the antique mall to your new finds to your exquisite and perfect decorating. But of course those stunning bookends steal the show. Suvh a good thoughtful and loving husband you have. Your home is always so warm and cozy with your lovely decorating skills. And your vision to create wonderful pieces. ❤
What a sweet husband you have Sherry! Now I have to visit Galena for sure! Thank you for sharing Grants home. No way can I pick a single favorite item - love the sugar canister and I think the 2 fruit pictures are perfect. Thanks for sharing 😊❤️
Everything is so beautiful Sherry! I love all your finds and what a fun trip you had! Love the President Lincoln display! What a sweet husband to get those bookends for you! 👍🥰❤️
I have to say, I think my favorite thing was your very sweet husband doing that for you! Such a precious blessing.
I think so too!
I'm English, I live in England, your video made me feel even more English than I already do!!! We live in much smaller homes but they are authentic and beautiful.
Oh, that is such a lovely compliment! Thank you!
I was overjoyed that you got those bookends…they were meant to be right where you put them! What a loving hubby!!
What a wonderful husband you have and what a wonderful home. Here on the UK I live in a small but very pretty 17th century flint cottage and like you I love to collect special items!!!.

There are only 3 of you women that I really can't wait every week to see. You are one. You are so talented.
May I ask who are the two other ones? I, too, always watch Canterbury Cottage first.
I would like to know too please😅
Yes, Give Us The 411!!! TYIA!!!

I am so happy you got the bookends. They are absolutely perfect in that room. No, it's not weird to have two fruit prints/paintings in your kitchen. haha They look great.❤
Oh, thank you, Vicki! 🥰
Is that a Hummel ashtray I spotted? So cute! I love Hummels. I realize they’ve gone out of fashion but I’m hanging on to mine!

It is so charming! I’ve been to Aurora a few times, too. There is a nice outlet mall there now. 😀
Sherry, you have great taste and I love the way you style your items. Your husband is extra special. Bless you both!
Thank you so much! That store told me they would not ship those bookends, so I was shocked when they arrived! My hubby must have sweet talked them!
Hard to pick a favorite treasure. Oh wait! Your thoughtful husband is the best treasure of all! ❤😊
As a Daughter of the American Revolution I appreciate your honoring the presidents.
I love Grant's bed. I want it :)
I agree! That Jenny Lind spool bed is gorgeous, also the story behind the name is great too (Jenny Lind, a singer, was of 'rock star' status in the mid-1800s)
Yes, but I would definitely need a better mattress! 😜

That was extremely sweet of your husband to get the bookends for you!!
Love that your wonderful husband got the bookends for you. They look great in your room. The fruit art in your kitchen is perfect.

Xxx
Love your bird wall. I actually love that you love birds Your creations are awesome with any bird project
Oh, I do need you to come shopping with me! That store was huge. I think they should have carts! 😜
Such a good visit. Fabulous town, B&B and antique stores. My kind of trip. My favorite is
the pair of bookends. Perfect find. Great husband!!❤
the book ends have to be the most special gift!
Awwww. That was so sweet of your husband!❤ I loved, loved the Abraham frame! Everything in your house looks so beautiful 😍😍
