Horrible take. Drum solos are THE time for drummers to show their technical abilities. The solo shouldn’t be a never ending string of notes, but no drum solo is complete without some chops. The drum beat played here would fit perfectly in a song, not on its own.
I totally agree! There’s like a sliding scale. On one side is holding a solid groove down, on the other is chop city. And depending on the context a drummer finds themselves should play into where they exist on the scale. At a drum clinic or expo, drummers should feel free to go for extended, limit breaking chops and technical display and be more at home on that side of the scale as their audience are likely to be other drummers who will appreciate the technicality of the performance. However at a general show, presumably playing for/with a band, and there’s a space for a proper drum solo. Not just like a 16 bar jam, but like time set aside in the gig for an actual drum solo, I feel the drummer should be holding a clear and solid groove/pulse down, accompanied with flourishes of technical ability and chops because even a general audience is wowed and excited to see a drummer do some wild shit, but never to a point where the audience loses the groove. And look, the solo can transition and evolve to new grooves, feels and tempos, but I believe the focus should be to guide the audience to stay with you as the solo evolves so they can join you on the journey and not be lost in a mishmash of rudiments and patterns they will struggle to connect with. Again it’s a balancing act and highly depends on the audience/context a drummer finds themselves.
@@faultylinedup Wow, that's some great insight. The part about holding a clear and solid groove down is what I meant. You can find the same thing in rap, where on the one hand you can go into dizzingly complex "lyrical miracle" displays of viruosity, but once you master that you start appreciating things like restraint.
This is phenomenal... Max, you are the true master of the laid-back groove! You and your channel are such a huge inspiration... May I ask...you're wearing headphones in this video (some videos you do, and some videos you don't)...what are you listening to in the headphones while you're playing?
Is that the drum throne or bass pedal that is making a counter rhythm? On the 1 e & a, 2 &, and 3. Here and there. Or is it something in my room? I dunno, but I like it! Always a great groove! Thanks much.
Nice, now we get the "Sewer Tunnel Groove" 🌑🥁🌑 Smelly but groovy 👃🥁👃 However, ⚠ beware Max⚠, you never know with these Digital Rats showing-up from 3:00 onward... 🐀🥁🐀 Have you had your rabies shot??? 💉🥁💉 If not, then be on the safe side and add a few diddles to your para-diddles, it is said that those extra diddles scare the rats away. 😁
It's a tight groove but I really wanted to see you transition to the ride, I found myself really longing for that around a third through the video, and it never came. I feel it could have elevated that a bit but who knows.

A beat so cool the temperature just dropped 10 degrees. 🥶
With this heat wave I'll gladly take that
He had to throw a sweater on just to do it.
When you gaze into the pocket and the pocket gazes back
😄
That beat was so infectious my old C64 booted up, and a robot stick man started moon walking to it.
Bro is always so deep in that pocket!
I’m surprised the pocket lining hasn’t unraveled it. Super dense grooves are contained within that pocket.
Not the groove we deserve, but the groove we needed.
First to be blessed by the groove king
Max dropped a heavy peace again. This beat needs to be hugged.
Love that snare; it's like an empty plastic bottle.
Pocket so deep, groove so snug... Indeed doesn't stop in our heads. And souls 🎶🥁✨
Where ever feel, technique, timing and dynamics meet, there is Max.🔥Impeccable groove.💯
Dude's trying to beatbox our brains in.
Gott dayum
This just became my new go-to track for boss fights 🔥
The sweater is back !!! 😅

Man that is a sweet groove. You have a great pocket! Love this groove.
This man is so underrated.. I really enjoyed your Latin funk solo! One of the best!
Much appreciated!
Владимир Ильич. Ну вы даёте. Круто.
Really beautiful man. When I listen to you play it’s everything I love about the drum set.
Happy to hear that!
That change in the middle really grabs you.
Bueno tío..eres una máquina del Groove con un estilazo tremendo. Genial
The FunkMAXter! Feel free to use that one too Max… 😁🎶
Q-Bert would murdalize this beat. It’s got such a grimy tough scratch beat sound.
Great, again.
Great job, Max.
The groove of life
Feels So Good! Thank You!
with your cooking you will make some young lady very happy one day

Muy bueno!! 👏👏👏👏
I'd like to request a livestream where this song loops non-stop. I feel betrayed that it's 4 minutes.

Glad to hear it!
Filthy good! Great work maestro.

I can tell there were a few mistakes that you turned into brilliant turn-around ad libs. Groovy, man.
In my mind i was outrunning cops in a video game. Engine revving and gears shifting just fit perfect with this. 😎

The GROOVE better than any drumsolo
hip as usual
Funk Master Jam. 1981. Streetmix
In my mind, whenever a drummer in a band gets to do a drum solo, it should be something like this
maaaaaan sameee, i hate messy and fast paced drum solos, this should be it

My brain thought this was my heartbeat. I felt dizzy.
Reminds me of the covenant dance from the original halo CE
👌🏼
Slightly Phil Collins-esque.
Never stop grooving, funky dimsunk sansalone.
Your grooves are the dirtiest; gravel and mud are to them what sugar and salt are to man.
good one, Max!
Beat was so cold he had to get that Christmas jumper on.
Pluguei meu baixo aqui e fiz uma jam de puro improviso ah me diverti, valeu hein que viagem boa 😎👍🏻

Thx! I'm just hearing the drums through the mics and sometimes I use them for ear protection.
F R O S T Y
Love it, as ever! Do you always play rimshots on backbeats? Really trying to improve my sound and yours is awesome.
Thx! Not always rimshots , depending for the sound I'm going for . But , mostly rimshots.

Always a great groove! Thanks much.
Ce groove peut durer indéfiniment, on ne s'en lasse pas. Merci beaucoup.

Nice, now we get the "Sewer Tunnel Groove" 🌑🥁🌑
Smelly but groovy 👃🥁👃
However, ⚠ beware Max⚠, you never know with these Digital Rats showing-up from 3:00 onward... 🐀🥁🐀

If not, then be on the safe side and add a few diddles to your para-diddles, it is said that those extra diddles scare the rats away.
😁
kick drum variation was on point, carried the beat
What is the size of these rides?
in the description
Not long enough🙂
the bass is so creamy
It's a tight groove but I really wanted to see you transition to the ride, I found myself really longing for that around a third through the video, and it never came. I feel it could have elevated that a bit but who knows.
Is your nickname Lint? Because you are deep in the pocket, my dude..
Do you wanna join my band? 😮
The drumming is great, but that noise in the back is annoying as hell.
