Here’s an idea for profitable passenger trains: Mail Contracts! The same thing that made passenger rail profitable in real life. Mail Contracts come with the need of an RPO car to take care of scheduling. Mail is like passengers but it already has a specific set of destinations. Therefore, to maximize passenger profit, it would be wise to have a passenger schedule that aligns with the mail schedule. They should also come with the normal knickknacks that freight does (Ex: Derailment damage makes mail less valuable). I think this would be a great idea to add because it adds a layer of complexity to passenger trains, and makes them more than just something to run for fun.
As a conductor irl, I have to say how exciting this project is. Nobody else has done the AI engineer, and I think it is such a brilliant idea, as you can give players the experience of what we do, when normally in train sims you sort of do it all, watching the point and running the engine. Having multiplayer also will allow full 3 man crews (engineer, conductor, brakeman), which is also a great idea. But giving the ai option for those like myself who enjoys the conductor role but doesn't have friends who are interested in this sort of thing is great. Also, the transition era is, in my opinion, an excellent setting as it can appease both steam and diesel fans, all while keeping a very consistent atmosphere.

This game looks absolutely amazing! Hopefully they add reporting marks to the freight cars as they already have numbers. I feel this would help them look more realistic!

Really cool to see you are also focusing on Singleplayer playability. Very important for me next to sounds. Looking forward to it, cant wait. 99,9% Day One purchase ;)
Just stumbled upon this. The game definitely has potential, and from these videos it seems that we will finally have a game where it's not just about locomotives and wagons, but also about the infrastructure, which, in my opinion, is the biggest flaw with all of the current train sim games. One feature that I would love to see implemented into the game is the ability to view how used a line is, as this adds to the realism, but also the lore. My idea of this is to have rails rust over time if they are not used, and maybe even implement a feature where grass would overgrow the tracks. Keep up the work, can't wait to play this!
I love the care you put in to your game, it is really shaping up becoming great. As passenger(and mail) trains RL usually run at a deficit (without government subsidence) it might be smart to have it tied into the upgrading you get a point/token for each passenger delivered that you can use to buy upgrades to industry or towns demand and supply. and maybe a multiplier for longer trips to reward not just back and forth between the 2 nearest stations.
I work for a railroad and I gotta say this looks like an awesome project. Only criticism I could even fathom is 1/2 car to a stop isn't enough notice but otherwise it looks great!

Keep up the great work Adam & the rest of the team. Ya'll are doing a fantastic job and truly are thinking MUCH more about what you want your final product to be for 1.0 for which I greatly appreciate in a world of train or other simulators where the devs barely take time to think out the mechanics. The only thing I, and most other people, can equate Railroader to is Run8 with the time, dedication as well as genuine passion that goes into the development of it. Not just the generic "get rich quick" scheme a lot of these so called "simulators" are trying to be
This is what I have been wanting in a train simulator, and that it is a railroad simulator too. Something with more of a purpose than just moving a train from point to point. I have a neat idea for rerailing. You could have a wreck train spotted somewhere (probably the middle of the line because it makes the most sense) that the player would have to go and get with an engine or two and bring it down to the derailment site, and have a wrecking crane rerail the locomotives and/or cars. Then, if anything is damaged badly enough, have the crane lift the equipment onto flatbeds and with the train take it to the areas where it can be repaired.

This looks like a lot of fun. I especially like the AI engineer feature. What can you say about performance? Some of the streams I've seen looked like the fps was very low and some of this footage as well. Thanks for the update
Thanks! During development performance ebbs and flows as a priority - the game needs to be playable but also the features need to be built (and bugs fixed). Performance is something we've invested a lot in already, and will continue to invest in, particularly as features solidify and the game gets closer to release.
Such a good progress update I’m am happy with the expansion and glad that you guys are on the right track beta testing and other things to get the game right for the public looking forward to playing this as soon as it drops

Nice to see the Gainesville midland, if you need photos of there decaopds please let me know :). Also have you considered possibly added the tallulah falls route ? Its a north georgia legend thats been gone since 1961, very little of it remains apart from archive films and photos and a precious handful of surviving equipment.
Just got recomended this video by YT. Haven't heard about this game before but it peaked my interest and im keen to play it. Comparing it so far with the other only train (i know) that has the same purpose to deliver cargo on time, or lets u derail ur train if u go too fast, this one looks way more impressive. The graphics looks good although i dont know if you guys plan on moving to UE.5 (if its even possible or not) would maybe make it even better. Some of the biggest complains at least for me that the "rival" game has that i hope you guys nail it much better to make way better for a greater experience are the small map that gets boring after a couple of days of gameplays and the poor/outdated graphics and polish. Railroader looks great so far, cant wait to play it
Defo keep my eye one this game the multiplayer is big selling point for me, when it comes to map design i really like the Sim derail valley for its map, cos it built to be a challenge with all sorts of different routes you can take

Between this and Derail Valley, I'm so happy to see competition in the train simulator market. Dovetail has a monopoly and therefore has stagnated and become greedy

I just wanna say I don’t normally comment or leave reviews on stuff but…. Hey this game looks like a game I been waiting for my whole life this is truly amazing and awesome looking I can’t wait to play and be a part of it SUPER COOL !!!!!!!! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Thank you!
@@railroader That's what I assumed but it's good to hear it direct. Thanks for the reply
I am hyped for when this drops. Definitely going to pick it up when I get the chance.
Such a good progress update I’m am happy with the expansion and glad that you guys are on the right track beta testing and other things to get the game right for the public looking forward to playing this as soon as it drops
With how amazing it already looks, I really hope you consider giving it custom rail-laying for sections of the map, kinda like rro, because that would be so cool!
Couldn’t help but to notice all of the bell sfx come from SRC #89. As well as the Decapod models being from G&W / SRC #90
Never heard of this game. Glad YT recommended the video though - this looks like a fun game that's making good progress. Can't wait to give it a try.
My Great Grandmother used to tell me she rode on the Gainesville Midland.
This is looking like a really interesting game. 100% will have to keep an eye on this.
cant wait for this
hopefully i can either convince some of my friends to play with me or find a good group to join
As a rail fan that absolutely loves trains, this sounds and looks like a wet dream!
Railroader looks great so far, cant wait to play it
Same thing just happened to me 15 minutes ago
Defo keep my eye one this game the multiplayer is big selling point for me, when it comes to map design i really like the Sim derail valley for its map, cos it built to be a challenge with all sorts of different routes you can take
Im surprised. I've only just heard of this game despite watching people like Hyce and other train related channels. Im eager to see where this game goes.
This looks like it's going to be light years ahead of railroads online
This is looking so good! And it's going to have actual singleplayer? Colour me excited
Between this and Derail Valley, I'm so happy to see competition in the train simulator market. Dovetail has a monopoly and therefore has stagnated and become greedy
Ok im fully onboard and look forward to future updates and release!
Not gonna lie I was skeptical with the delay. I figured it was starting to be to complex and forgetting the game aspect and more of a sim. But I'm glad the solo game play gonna be flexible to how you want to play and you will be able to grow you're RR.
im so hype for this game! great job so far I cant wait
This looks like it will be amazing! Keep it up! Cant wait to give it a go!
Looks like this is going to be a gem
Looking forward to everything you have shared!!!
