    they look cool, they also look like they would break in use. The factory hook you removed had how many bolts?

    • @SOBIsHobbies
      @SOBIsHobbies  3 роки тому +3

      They're rated with ~41K lbs of break strength. Don't think they'll break that easily. They're heavy and have a good quality feel to them when you hold them. One side had one bolt (I believe passenger side) and the other one had two (if I'm not mistaking).

    remove you factory hook up front ...but if your a casual like me that will most likely never use the front of your truck to
    pull someone out of a ditch these are fine ,,,,,,,Lets be honest sometimes we do stuff to our vehicles for the cool factor

    Are you running stock suspension and what size tires? Love the look of your truck!

    • @SOBIsHobbies
      @SOBIsHobbies  2 роки тому +1

      Hi. Thank you! At the time truck was riding on its original suspension and tires were 265/70R17. However, later I upgraded my suspension setup on the truck (went with ARB OME 3” lift kit) and tires (285/70R17 33” A/T). Since mine is a long bed Tacoma I felt like it needed a lift as its rear was sagging after putting the camper shell on. Also now truck rides much more planted and feels more stable than it was with its OEM suspension. Which felt more like wobbly and bouncy ride. Thanks for watching!!

    • @SOBIsHobbies
      @SOBIsHobbies  3 роки тому +1

      Very good question. To be completely honest, I'm not 100% sure. However, I've seen quite a few Tacomas with these brackets and so far I haven't heard from anyone saying that it damaged their frames. According to the item description they've been thoroughly tested prior manufacturing. Nevertheless, just like anything in life there's always a risk with everything. I did use mine to pull out a tree stump not too long ago and there was no harm done in that instance. Granted it wasn't a big stump. 😊

    Will these work on the TRD sport model? Miss the recovery hook on my old off-road.

    • @SOBIsHobbies
      @SOBIsHobbies  3 роки тому

      I believe they do. I see no reason why they shouldn't. Overall frame and body design of these trucks are the same across all trims. The only complication that you may face would probably going to be your plastic air dam piece under your front bumper. And that's just my guess. Otherwise, that may not even be the case. Not only they make the truck look better but also can be useful in some unpredicted situations. Money well spent in my opinion. 😄

    • @aeromedical6750
      @aeromedical6750 2 роки тому

      Understand that these are not designed or rated for recovery. They are fine for light towing operations and to stabilize the truck for tie down during transport. Using these to execute a snatch recovery is rolling the dice and very unsafe. I’m going to be installing these on my TRD Sport 4X2 in the near future primarily for the looks.

      I’ll be honest with you, I’m not 100% sure. However, every website and reviews I went to said they’re rated for towing and recovery but don’t say up to what weight. I mean they’re pretty solidly built from the looks and feel. I’m quite sure they’re at very least of the same built quality as the OEM hooks if not stronger. Hope this helps. Thank you!

    once you install those demon brackets go pull someone out of a ditch...then right after that you can replace the cross member that supports your radiator because you just tore the entire cross member off your nice taco...it will only be a couple of thousand bucks replacing that bracket...Thats what you get when you use pretend recovery points that were meant for show and nothing else
