You should tie a wire or something from the shackle itself to the hole on the pin it keeps the shackle from coming off. That way you don’t lose your shackles on the highway and/or throwing them through someone’s car behind you. It’s just to keep the pin from backing out and it makes it a little harder to steal the shackles.
Would love to know if those brackets are engineered tested as an actual recovery point ? Just to let you know if you drive down many off-road tracks and hit wash boards where your truck is going to be rattling a lot you will lose those D shackles, as the vibration will cause them to unscrew and they will drop off I know from experience. To my knowledge as well the brackets you were calling towing points they’re not they’re actually tiedown points for the vehicle to be tied down in shipping you shouldn’t really pull anything on those as they would more than likely rip off.
No capacity ratings. They're good decorations, for tiedown applications, and similar to the unrated factory hardware, but NEVER pull anything with them or use them in any recovery situation.
Just to clarify, anything that is attached to the Tacoma part #51021-04022, Crossmember Sub-Assembly, is NOT the same as attaching something to part #: 51112-04020 Extension, Side Rail, RH; or to #51122-04020 Extension, Side Rail, LH. Those are both directly fastened to the frame side rails. Just take a look with a flashlight under your truck to see the material and structural differences underneath. Also look to see where the front bumper is connected. Yup...to the frame side rail extensions.
I tried to install these on my Tacoma yesterday and something snapped attached to the bolt inside when I was trying to remove the drivers side. Now I can't get the bolt out and something is rattling around inside.
These definitely add looks, but the week link is the point they are connected. The old points I believe are shipping the downs vs recovery. During recovery, frame damage may occur. These will be perfect with an aftermarket steel bumper. Perhaps I'm wrong and these mounting points are designed for recovery.
Question for fellow tacoma owners. I’ve heard and seen people use the demon brackets for looks only and for actual recovery points. Some say they’re not rated and should not be used for recovery. Others say they’re good to go for snatching (recovering) What’s the answer?
I’d say if it’s you Stuck and someone winches on your d brackets it’s ok for slow, light things but if a f150 is stuck in mud and you want to pull it first of you’ll use your rear and second the bar might bend if the force isn’t distributed between the bar. Basically if you pull mostly at an angle you might bend that bar
I modified (grinded a little off) the back of the removable factory hook so I could leave it on with the new shackles and brackets. I basically put the new shackles on for looks. I'd pull something light with them, but I've still got the factory hooks if needed to go heavier and I'd tow from the rear tow package if it was something pretty big. I also put some rubber filler in the bracket so it wouldn't rattle. They look cool!
Awesome vid dude! Question for anyone that may know the answer: my off road only came installed with one of the stock “shackles/tow hooks” … I have one on the passenger side but not driver side. And there’s no pre drilled holes to install one. Basically I can’t install a set of shackles which sucks. Anyone know why my truck only came installed with one?
According to their website the shackles are used for recovery situations. Also, according their website their American made, but the box the shackles come in say made in China haha
Hey man, I’m just curious as to how your raptor lights are still holding up? I’ve bought some off Amazon and they just aren’t great, and never work for very long.
@@ShogunInTheSnow I installed Raptor Lights from Tacoma World a few months back. Holding up well here in PA through the cold weather and snow. They snapped in as they should and the wiring is high quality. Easy install.
Just found your channel today man! I don’t own a Tacoma but I enjoy your videos! Keep up the great work!
Thank you!! I appreciate it!!🙌🏼
Thanks for the video. I don’t know why the didn’t make a 2 bolt mounting bracket.
Do you think you can put the passenger side demon bracket and still keep the recovery hook on as well?
Isnt that a bad spot to use? There are brackets that connect to the frame which are safer. I need to find the video again so I can buy some.

@@guywhosleepallday8194 well I guess I won't be buying those I have no use for things that have no practicality
@@ashesdrivered Well if that's the case it's something I won't be putting on my truck if it's not useful to me it's not necessary

You have one more subscriber now, congratulations on 1000 plus mark!
Thank you so much!!!

So you're removing your factory recovery rated tow hook for something not rated and possibly dangerous?
Yep, and it doesn’t matter now because I have a C4 front bumper
congrats on over 1000!!
Thanks man!!!🙌🏼
Great video and tutorial on this mod installation!!
Thank you!!!
What size and brand of tires do you have?
Thanks
was looking at getting tow hooks up front on my tacoma, definitely going to use these now
Get some! Super quick and easy!

Can these be used to support vehicle weight ?
Love your level of OCD. Glad I'm not alone lol
Just got my 2021 pro! Thanks for the video..super useful. Will be following your videos bro!
Thank you!!
Mexican taco as the food and Japanese taco as the truck
…Did you just removed the front rubber guard ??
Great vid brotha
Thank you!!!🤙🏼
I don’t like my emblem on my trd 2020 white is there any way to take it off and replace it
I’m not sure about replacing it, but you can tape off the area around the “TOYOTA” and spray paint it. That’s what I did to mine
The first bolts that hold the bracket to the frame….needs to be torqued down.

your not using the tow hook points, watch the video again
That’s a recovery hook. Only need One.
These are not for recovery. These are for looks only fyi
Yep👍🏼 wouldn’t use these for an recovery situation
Why not? if you are using grade 8 bolts it wold be just fine.
@@stacksmasher no, not when it's just 1 bolt holding the drivers side bracket in a not so solid mounting frame. Bad idea.
Great info, thanks!
I want smoked taillights in the worse way, but they are illegal in my state. Had to go with the TRD Pro tails.
👍🏽 I like that upgrade
Quick and easy! Adds a little swag haha
Was thinking of doing this. But some people say it's just for looks as it's bone functional and would break off when you use it. Soo...

Nice man….I have BPF recovery tow hook…but now i may have to go with these…thanks And cheaper…..cost $$$
Does this work for the limited tho?
Not sure. You’ll have to check on their website. Might be specific ones for the limited
Thanks.. Appreciate ya
Where did u get your back lights
Tail lights? They’re “Winjet” smoked tail light. Not sure they make them anymore
Do you have a video showing how your tail lights work?
Yep, look back towards my first few videos. I do a full install on them
Can you actually get rescued from the front without getting the frame damaged??
According to Rhino USA, yes. Idk if I’ll do it yet though. Debating on getting stuck at the dunes and testing it out, but I’m a little nervous to ha
Will the demon brackets fit a 2021 Tacoma?
Yeah 👍🏼
Great installation
Thank you!!
Don't use those for recovery or tow , you will bend your frame or you will get hurt.....
Just decorations get the real deal
Yeah they’re just temporary and for looks until I get a new bumper
So where would you tow or pull from the front? If these are just for looks.
If I needed to be towed then I would use the factory tow hook that is on the vehicle still
@@TacoManD4X4 you removed the factory tow hook when placing demon brackets though?
There are two towing points under the front bumper. I left one and removed the other
That much red lock tight and that bolt never coming off ahahaha
I actually checked the other day and they unscrewed easily haha
That looks nice. Easy quick mod for the Tacoma 👍
Super quick and easy!👍🏼
