Thanks, Just purchased one. I think it's an S2. I shoot a 5d MK IV digital and a 1V HS 35mm but wasn't sure how to load the film. This helped! Great video!

several opportunities to mess up. Pay attention very well, #1 he is taking the tip of the film into the taking spool and making that fold so it grips well. I have made the mistake of not making that anchor point strong enough so then the crank goes without moving the film. #2 when putting back the insert in the film back he pushes the middle rod firmly. If you don't do that then the gears that move the taking spool won't engage correctly. #3 he is testing the film back own crank can move the film by advancing until the arrow reaches the red point. This helps you to make sure your roll will advance smoothly later and if something is wrong at this point you haven't lost any film.

The S2 and S2A don't use batteries, they are fully mechanical.

      No batteries needed.

NO, ONLY the E C, E C TL, E T R S I , SQ a/b & G S models take button cell batteries, ALL others are battery free!! (only the 135 mm nikkor lens doesn't need a battery, as it is a leaf shutter, all you do is set the body shutter (focal plane) for a longer time, so the compur shutter has exposure control).

Hi! I just bought this camera and it seems that i keep rolling the handle on the side but the camera doesn't shoot. It is something i'm doing wrong?

Do you have film in the back? If not that's probably why.
Take off the back and try to wind the camera if the knob doesn't move clockwise at all it's probably wound already.
If the knob does move keep going until you hear a loud clunk but don't force it beyond reason.
If it doesn't does the shutter button go in when you press it? If not the shutter is locked, rotate the "crown" anti-clockwise.
      Let me know what happens.

Hi, I have a S2A, it is working fine except when I insert the darkslide fully, the film back is not released, I will need to wiggle the darkslide a bit to feels some resistance. Then only, the last bit which release the cache can be engaged by the darkslide. Any idea what could have happened that caused the darkslide to miss the cache?

What do you mean by cache?

The darkslide should not fully slide in and there should be a small space so you can press the darkslide to release the film back from the camera. Sometime, my darkslide just fully slides in leaving no space to press and release the darkslide. I will need to wiggle the darkslide a bit to feel more resistance when putting it in.

From what I see I think the back is defective. A film camera repair shop will most likely take a look at it for free. Wish you the best!
